"Alright, alright," you say. "Because you insist, I'll reveal your magical training progression to you."

You take into account everything Raven has done over the last couple of weeks training with you, assess, and then present them as a radar graph, coloring things for aesthetic appeal.



"Wuh..." she says. "What a weird shape."

"Well, yes, the way I organized them, it isn't the most attractive shape."

"Are these numbers?" she asks as she squints.

"Oh, yes, I guess I didn't take into account incompatible colors... I'll explain what is on there.

"This is all scored on a possible ten levels at most, though we already discussed Summoning is only seven. In Binding, you are at level 2. In-"

"Seriously? Only level 2?" she protests.

"It's fine, I'm only level 3. Let me finish saying everything first, then complain."

She pouts but stays quiet.

"In Disorientation," you continue, "you're a level 10.
"In Summoning, you are level 7.
"In Sound, you are level 5.
"In Illusion, you are level 10.
"In Arcane, you are level 5.
"In Healing, you are level 7.
"In Nature, you are level 4.
"In Other Druidic magics, you are level 6.
"In Transmutation, you are level 8.
"In Transformation, you are level 5.
"In Alchemy, you are level 7.
"In Jewelcrafting, you are level 2.
"In Enchanting, you are level 3.
"In Autonomy, you are level 9.
"And in Elemental, you are level 6."

"Stupid jewels," Raven grumbles.

"Yes, those Jewelcrafting lessons were... rough," you say, remembering back to Raven's blocky sculptures; you still don't have the heart to tell her what you really thought her bear looked like.

"So, do you feel better knowing where you stand?" you ask her.

"A little," she says.

"C'mon, let's get you back to training," you say. "Let's see if you can't improve on that Jewelcrafting."

"Really?" she groans.

"Well, how are you supposed to get better at it?"

"I don't want to get better at it," she pouts.

"Well then what do you want to get better at?"

"Hmm... Binding!"

She casts a spell just as she says it, and you're tied up, like she was just a moment ago. You break out easily, but she spams the spell.

"You aren't going to get any better just using the same one over and over," you say as you break out again. "You need to try and use something stronger."

"Bind!" Raven says as she uses both hands.

A massive clamp grabs you, pressing arms against torso like a vice.

"Well, that certainly works," you say with a bit of a pained groan. "I think this moves you up to level 3 already."

"Cool," she says as she lets you go.

You shake out your arms to make sure there's still feeling in them, then notice your phone is buzzing. You take out your phone and see it's from a text message.

From: Jinx

Wait a tick, when did she get your number? When did she add her number into your phone? A whole week and you didn't even realize she'd done this.

"No, I said you'd gotten skilled quickly," you say. "I'm at level six but I've been working at it- Actually, I haven't actively worked at getting better that much lately."

"Stop qualifying it," she says with a chuckle and playful shoulder slap. "Am I really only two levels behind you in this amount of time?"

"Again, I probably haven't clocked in that much time, or as much time as I should have, but yes you're just behind me."

Raven accepts that, but then gets a new thought in her head.

"Where do I stand in all the other things?"

"Umm..." you say.

"C'mon," she says. "Just tell me!"

"Go!" Raven says as she sends her pair of black wolf constructs at you.

You block with barriers, but the wolves go around and circle you. Raven herself multiplies per Illusion magic, and four Ravens flank you on all sides as well as the wolves. You summon dozens of squirrels to keep the wolves busy, and then you aim and blast the Ravens on your left and right. One of them defends the attack while the other disappears, proving it's the real Raven!

You leap up with the help of chi and get clear of the wolves and squirrels. Raven falls back, you use barriers to block her in now, so she phases into the ground. You create a new barrier as a platform, land on it, stick to it and swing forward to be upside-down and facing the other way. You see Raven as she slips back above ground, you shoot a binding spell!

"Ah!" she yelps as the bolas snare wraps around her. She flops to the ground, working to undo the binding while you drop to the ground and cartwheel towards her.

"You ready to take a break?" you ask.

She uses her legs to spin onto her back and kip-ups to her feet. She jumps and kicks, you block and dodge, her wolves come back around--because your squirrels have all failed--you create a barrier behind you as a wall. You jump back then jump off, go up and over Raven to get behind her, she spins around but you grab her with both arms and hold her tight.

"How about now?" you ask with a grin.

"Well what do you have planned for us next?" Raven smiles as she dangles her feet just off the ground.

"Well," you say as you undo her bindings. "I think we first need to clean up out here."

You look over Raven's shoulder as she looks back, and you both look at quite the mess you've made of the grounds.

"Oh, yeah, that'd probably be best," she says.

You set her down and the two of you walk over to fill in divots, potholes and tiny craters you two made while sparring, as well as restoring any lost grass.

"You've gotten skilled with Druidic Nature magic quite quickly," you say to her.

"Thanks," she smiles. "But, I do have help from some new friends."

The Druidic spirits of Nature that preside over the Western Coast float about her as she smooths out grass that ended up dry and crinkled from earlier arcane magics.

"Ms. Raven is very much like nature," one says in its childlike voice. "Able to be calm as well as furious. It is why she is so capable."

"Thank you, Nal," Raven smiles.

"I think it is Ms. Raven's natural strength in magic that makes her compatible," the other says in its deeper voice.

"I like her wisdom," the third says in its softer voice.

"It's her personality!" Nal insists.

"Her strength!" the deep one says.

"Wisdom!" the soft one says.

"Dwav, Styn, you both have valid points," she says. "And so does Nal. No need to argue. I thank you all for the compliments."

"You're welcome, Ms. Raven," they all say together.

The work is finished, and everything is as close to how it was before the sparring session as it could be.

"Thank you for your help," she says to the three spirits with a bow. "You are dismissed."

"Good bye, Ms. Raven," the three say together before disappearing in bright green poofs.

"I wasn't going to ask this in front of the spirits," Raven says as you two regroup, "but how skilled exactly am I?"

"Hmm... Well, you're progressing very well with spirits of this area, and as you said, those three do have a point that your own attributes of personality, ability and intelligence are a major factor."

With Jinx officially moved back out of the Tower, things go on a rather regular schedule. You practice the waltz with Raven, practice magic with her, have meals with her and everyone, go to sleep, then wake up to repeat the day.

A week goes by peacefully, and it's the very next Monday while you and Raven are working on

You exit the bathroom and head to your door while Raven walks down the hall to hers. You watch her go into her room before going into yours, and you then climb into bed and fall asleep.

The next morning, you get up, go to Ops, and join everyone for breakfast of bacon and eggs. Jinx walks in with her luggage and sets those down by the kitchen counter before serving herself a plate.

"Do you have everything?" Robin asks.

"Yep," Jinx says. "I checked and double-checked last night before going to bed, and then checked again after I showered this morning. Everything is here."

"You were only here a few days, but it'll still be different without you here," Starfire says.

She gives Jinx a big hug.

"Thanks," Jinx says while she's being squeezed.

Everyone eats breakfast, and eventually Jinx's cell rings.

"Oh, it's Argent!" she says.

Jinx answers the phone.

"Hey~!" she says. "Yeah. ... Really? Wow, sweet! Okay yeah we'll meet you on the roof. See you then."

Jinx hangs up and puts her phone away.

"Argent is already on her way," she says. "She got an early start and is already in California. She'll be here in a little bit."

"Well, that actually makes sense," Cyborg says, "Titans North is located in the Central timezone, so her getting up early is getting up extra early for us."

Everyone finishes eating quickly, then heads upstairs to the roof's helipad. You see a helicopter approach, in blue and white like the T-Car, with the circle-T symbole of the Teen Titans to confirm it's the T-Copter.

The copter lands, the rotor whipping up the wind and dust. It lands and powers down, the pilot steps out from inside.

The pilot, who has been established as Argent, is a young woman with jet black hair but the bangs colored pure red to match her eyes, in a shoulderless corset with detached sleeve gloves, a frilled red-and-black skirt and matching red-and-black knee high boots. It all gives you this sense of punk rock "edgy".

Argent herself is a pale grey, almost pure white, making her the palest of you all. She's rather slender, but not as skinny as Jinx.

"Hey~!" Jinx says again as she hauls her luggage over.

"Hey, cuzzie!" Argent says before she and Jinx have a short hug to greet each other.

From her accent, you realize Argent is from New Zealand.

"Argent!" Starfire says as she grabs Argent in a big hug.

"Hey there, Star," she says, taking the strong hug better than Jinx did. "Good to see ya. Hey, everyone."

Everyone greets her back.

"Oh, I see this is the new guy in town," Argent says as she looks at you. "I'm Argent, nice to meet ya."

She holds out a hand, you take it and shake.

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Argent," you say. "I'm Rorek Null the Seventh."

"Oh, that's right," she says. "You're a Limey. And a nice lookin' one, glad I got a squizz at you."

"Um, thank you," you say.

"Well, we better get goin'," Argent says. "The timezone saved me time on the trip out but it'll make things seem longer on the way back."

"Right," Jinx says.

You help load Jinx's luggage on board.

"Chur bro," Argent says as she and Jinx enter the cockpit. "See everyone around!"

You and the others wave good-bye as the rotors start up again and the T-Copter takes off. It turns and heads back East. After the T-Copter is out of sight, everyone goes about their day.

You get up again and put away things in the sink.

"I think we've had our fun," you say. "I officially declare the Limbo bet of full control to be over. We can all go about our nights freely, and I myself feel it's time to turn in."

"Good idea," Jinx says. "I want to be well-rested for the long copter ride tomorrow. G'night."

"Good night," you say as she exits the room.

"Good night," everyone says in turn as they leave Ops.

Only Raven hangs back as she helps wash the dishes.

"Is there something special the fry cooks call washing the dishes?" she asks.

"No, but the person washing the dishes is called the 'bubble dancer', because of all the suds."

"Bubble dancers," Raven repeats with a chuckle.

"Yes, yet another silly and whimsical name," you say.

You stock the dish washing machine with these dishes and have it run.

"So, what're you up to tonight?" you ask as you walk out of Ops closely with Raven.

"Not much," she says with a smirk. "Why do you ask? Have an idea for what to do?"

"Well, I think we should also get some rest tonight," you say. "We'll be seeing Jinx off in the morning, but then we can get back to some dance practice and magical lessons."

"That'd be nice," she smiles. "What would we do first?"

"Whichever you wanted to do first," you say.

"Hmm... Well, I'll sleep on it and let you know in the morning."

You two turn the corner and both head to the bathroom, but then stop when you realize you're both heading to the bathroom.

"Oh, you can go first," she says.

"No, ladies first."

"Well, wait," she says. "We're just going to brush our teeth, right?"

"Well, a little more than just that," you say, scratching the side of your head.

She looks at you, trying not to laugh.

"Then you go first, and I'll join you when you're done," she says.

"Okay," you say.

You go into the bathroom, door closed, and use the toilet. You finish, flush and wash your hands before taking out the toothpaste.

"You may come in now," you say.

Raven slowly opens the door to make sure you are done. She then walks in and takes her toothbrush, and you pass her the toothpaste. You two stand there, brushing your teeth side by side. You are very careful when you spit into the sink, you don't want to seem messy.

"This is a stage I wasn't sure if we'd get to in our relationship," you say.

She takes her turn spitting into the sink.

"Yeah, it's not really something people think about when it comes to relationships, huh?" she says.

"Mhm," you nod as you do more brushing.

"Like," she continues, "people think about dating like 'we're going to go on romantic dates with candle lit dinners or travel the world and watch the sun set on a tropical beach', not 'we can brush our teeth together.'"

"*spit* Very true," you chuckle. "It's the little things in life, y'know?"

You two finish brushing your teeth and rinse out your mouths. You rinse once with very little, while she rinses multiple times.

"You only do it once?" she asks.

"Yes," you say. "It's to keep enough of the flouride on the teeth."

"Oh. Really?"

"Mhm," you say again as you wipe your mouth on a towel.

"Maybe I should do that..." she mutters.

"Whoever steps up to him first, they're not surviving."

With fangs bared and claws out, Rey the wolfman challenges Zed!

"No!" you say. "Not him! Oh, no...!"

Raven teasingly comforts you in your mock despair.

Rey rushes Zed, who throws him aside. Zed takes aim but Rey is fast to recover, he smacks the triangle guns out of Zed's hands and shreds Zed's cloak as Zed evades. Zed takes out a big hunting knife, Rey lunges, and while Rey sinks his teeth into Zed's shoulder, Zed stabs his knife into Rey's side!

"No...!" you say.

Rey doesn't stop there, though, he claws into Zed's sides, and sinks his fangs in deeper. Zed cries out in pain as he stabs Rey more. They roll on the ground, Rey not letting go.

"Rey!" Glynn says as he comes closer, but then has to back off from laser fire by remaining troops of Zed.

Rey keeps biting into Zed, Zed's blood from his shoulder soaking his fatigues. Zed keeps stabbing Rey, but the wolfman his hardier that expected. Rey deadlifts Zed off the ground to then slam Zed back onto the ground. Zed's shoulder is being torn up, but he still uses his other arm to stab the wolfman, getting Rey in the neck now.

"Man this is graphic," Beast Boy says.

"Really bloody," Jinx says.

Rey keeps going, taking a chunk of Zed's shoulder off the bone, and with his last breath, he slashes Zed in the face with his claws before falling to the ground in a heap.

Zed roars and cries in pain, but he drags himself out from under Rey. His troops make their way over to him, with cover fire keeping the League soldiers back.

"Can't you shoot that thing again!?" Curr shouts at Aebe, in reference to the triangular cannon.

"It's taking its time recharging!" Aebe says back. "Just take cover!"

Zed's troops carry him away, patching up as they go, and they use grappling hooks to fly away into the trees.

"Damn it he's getting away!!" Glynn shouts as he turns his aim to the trees.

Glynn goes long range again, scope eyeing Zed's cluster. He aims for Zed's head, fires, but misses only because another troop zipped up into the path.

"No!!" Glynn shouts. "Zed!!"

Glynn roars in anger as Zed and his troops get away. Linea walks over slowly, and holds Glynn as he grits his teeth, tears flowing down, and he drops slowly to his knees. The surviving soldiers gather together, and the camera pans out as the sound of the main spaceship grows louder.

Cut to the flight back, the surviving soldiers sitting solemnly while seven caskets are grouped together on one side. While the group is in a circle, the camera centers Glynn in the frame.

"We'll get him," Linea tells Glynn as she puts her hand on his shoulder and the camera slowly zooms in. "We'll get him."

The camera gets right up to where Glynn's face fills most of the screen, his eyes closed.

"We'll get him," he repeats. "We'll get him... to die."

Glynn's eyes open into a glare, and the movie goes to credits.

"That was pretty good," Raven says.

"Is there a sequel?" you ask.

"Oh, this movie's actually pretty recent," Cyborg says. "They're working on League of Stars 2."

"We'll need to see the premiere," you say. "I want to see Glynn get revenge for Rey."

it only feels long, mostly because I got stuck going in real-time like I do with everything.

"I like that idea," you say. "Definitely something I would try."

"Y'know, this says a lot about who you are," Raven says. "In a way that I don't think I could've gotten out of you no matter how many questions I asked you."

"Really?"

"Yes, really," she chuckles.

"I'll take your word for it."

The soldiers let Zed's troops get close enough to keep visual contact as things move off the cliff and back towards base camp. Chevy and Linea return fire as the group makes their way back, Free carrying Torin up ahead while Glynn, Rica, Rey and South Unit all keep the path clear.

"Careful, this is where we go downhill," Glynn calls out.

The slope approaches, Free is able to fly right over it with Torin, Glynn and the others take it slowly enough as not to topple over and roll down. Zed's troops gain on them in this way, but no one is hit just yet. The return of fire gets more intense now, the League soldiers make it to the bottom and get running as fast as possible to get ahead of the rain of lasers from Zed's troops.

"Almost there," Glynn says. "Aebe, get that triangle cannon ready!"

As the soldiers keep running, Zed's troops head down the slope. They get shot as they go, falling and tumbling down the hill dead. The rest keep going, not caring about the fallen.

"We're ready!" Aebe responds.

"Chevy!" Linea says as the purple-haired man falls.

"Just go," he says from the ground.

Chevy turns over and puts his weapon on full automatic, unloading on all the troops that come close. However, there's too many and they end up flanking him, so one of the troops gets a shot on him from the side, disabling his weapon, then another shot to disable him.

"Oh..." Starfire says sadly.

Free flies into camp, letting Megan get Torin into the pod to tend to his wounds. Marcus becomes a shield as the others file in, but those panels he's been using are getting worn down. Zed's troops form up, Aebe and Soglori take aim and *PEWM!* the yellow bolts blast them away! Any survivors are picked off by regular lasers from the other soldiers.

*PEW PEWM* Big laser bolts fire back from above, stopping the League soldiers from firing out of surprise. They look up, and someone comes swooping in wearing a camo cloak, wielding single triangular barrels!

This man lands and takes aim, the camera gives us a glimpse.

"It's Zed!" Beast Boy says.

"Oh no, someone's dying again," you say.

"I'm going," Glynn says. "Aebe, Soglori, Megan and Free can man the base camp with the triangle cannon we took from Zed's troops, the rest of us go make contact with East Unit."

"Actually," Linea says, "I think-"

"That what?" Glynn says. "That we should instead wait for them here?"

"No," Linea says with a bit of a chuckle. "I was going to suggest we bring Free and have Sibo stay here."

"Oh. Alright, I can agree to that."

With that settled, Glynn, Linea, Free and the full South Unit heads out while the others hold position at the Central Unit pod.

Suresh directs the unit North by Northeast and they eventually climb uphill and find themselves looking down at a huge river.

"I can see why this kept East Unit from getting any closer," Curr says. "Where's East Unit on the other side?"

"Right there," Free says as he points.

Free's bird eye vision spotted the East Unit emerging from the woods but at a run. Rica bunny hops out in front while Rey hauls one soldier on his shoulder and the other brings up the rear. The soldier on Rey's shoulder is able to give cover fire along with the fourth soldier, so no one is dead.

"Free, fly down to help them!" Glynn says. "The rest of us need to give what cover fire we can from up here."

Glynn prepares a long-range format for his rifle while Free flies down and the others take position on the cilff. Glynn is first to fire, hitting the mark on one of Zed's troops. Free swoops down and glides alongside Rey, taking the injured soldier into his bird feet and flying back up, who turns out to be three-eyed Torin.

"What happened?" Free asks Torin.

"Another ambush, like all of you ran into," he says. "But ours had something even more special than the triangle cannon. It had Zed among them."

"Zed? Damian Zed was among them?" Free asks.

"Yes, and he's a lot worse in person," Torin says as they arrive at the top of the cliff. "He's why I can't walk."

"But Zed's down there?" Glynn says as he looks around with his scope.

"He was," Torin says as he's set down by Free. "I think he still is, but that's not exactly all of the unit with him now. Rey did some good damage to them and then we had to run when they brought out the triangle cannon."

"I'll rip him up next time," Rey growls on the communication line. "I swear it."

"That's a good idea," Glynn says. "We need to make sure Zed is part of that unit, and bait him to follow us. We'll use the triangle cannon we have and use it against him."

"Remember what I said!" Linea shouts. "We have a team."

Linea drags and yanks Glynn along as she keeps talking.

"Right again," Raven says to you.

"Sibo," Linea says. "Get Garrett out of the hole!"

"Can not," Sibo replies. "Enemy advancing. They are already upon him."

"Damn it," Linea says. "Then stay underground, find your way back to base camp."

"Understood."

"We're leaving Garrett?!" Glynn shouts.

"We can't risk losing them both," Linea says.

Linea and Glynn return to the pod and she pushes him in. She enters inside and closes the door part way.

"Frohock, Quendra," Linea says. "Do you read?"

"We still read you, Naddeo," Free says.

"Be careful as you approach. This unit's triangle cannon is in the ground but still operational. Try and enter above."

"Flying higher as we speak," Free says.

Cut to where they are, the bird man goes up higher and Megan looks down. They're approaching Zed's troops from the rear, and the camera takes their perspective and focuses on the triangle cannon.

"There's the weapon," Free says. "We need to destroy it before they dig it out."

"Bombs away then," Megan says as she takes off her belt of grenades.

She activates one and drops the whole thing at the triangle cannon.

*CLUNK* The belt flops onto the ground right next to the cannon. *BOOM BOM BOOMBOOM* The grenades all explode and damage the weapon!

"Direct hit!" Megan says.

"But the grunts are returning fire," Free says. "We've gotta get out of here!"

"Good job, you two," Linea says as Free flies off to the left. "Find a long detour around to our position and we can pincer when Aebe and Soglori arrive."

"Will do," Free says. Then she whispers, "I'm sorry, Garrett."

"Central Unit, this is South Unit," Kele says. "We're finally here."

Glynn slides the door open quickly and heads out, Linea hurries after. They see burly Marcus leading the way with the others behind.

"Is he wearing panels as armor?" Glynn says.

Marcus has the attention of Zed's troops, the panels withstand the regular laser fire, so he steamrolls right through them. Curr and Kele use close-quarters combat to finish some of the stragglers, Cray uses freeze breath on others.

Sibo surfaces and regroups with Glynn and Linea. All together, the seven soldiers are able to wipe out Zed's troops.

"Where is Damian Zed?!" Glynn asks a survivor. "Where is he?!"

"It won't matter," Aebe says as he and Soglori come up from the West. "They won't give up anything about him. Whether it's loyalty or fear, none of them is going to give us a thing. What we need to worry about is the weapon he's given them."

Speaking of, Soglori is carrying the barrel of a triangle cannon on his shoulders.

"The damage it did to the metal panels," Glynn says. "How... How bad was it to Kipp?"

Aebe and those of the combined West-North unit are silent.

"It was bad," Megan says. "Real bad."

Glynn is silent now, mourning for his antagonizer.

"Commander Suresh, come in," Linea says. "How far are we from East Unit?"

"Thirty miles out," Suresh responds. "Just as Rica said, a river got in their way and they've been working on a detour. If you choose, we can coordinate a rendezvous from up here."

"That's exactly what we've got here," Glynn says. "And they're almost done setting it up!"

"Free, carry Megan and get there pronto," Aebe says. "Soglori and I will do what we can for Kipp, a... and then catch up to you."

"Roger that," the others reply.

"Central Unit, this is East Unit," Rica calls in finally. "We're slowed down, massive river on our side. Sorry."

"South Unit is still on our way," Kele says.

"This is Suresh," the commander says. "We can see the ETA for South Unit is a few minutes. Do what you can about that triangle weapon, Central Unit."

"Easier said than done, sir," Linea says.

Sibo emerges from underground amidst the group of Zed's troops! He rips their limbs off as he pulls them underground with him, then reappears somewhere else to repeat. He retreats underground when the laser fire concentrates on him, and that gives the others openings to shoot at the enemy, taking them out.

"Sibo, try and get near that weapon," Glynn says. "That's their ace in the hole."

"Understood," Sibo replies.

Sibo does in fact make his way towards the weapon, digging underneath its base and dropping the weapon down a couple feet. The enemy troops try to shoot at Sibo but he's already gotten away underground. The man manning the weapon still aims at all three!

*PEWM!* It fires bright yellow energy, Garrett ducks into the hole while Linea and Glynn get clear of their metal panels before *BOOM!* Explosions cause the hole to cave in, the panels are ripped and twisted!

"Garrett!" Glynn says.

"Fall back!" Linea says as she pulls Glynn up. "To the pod!"

"But we can't leave Garrett and Sibo!" Glynn counters.

A) Expect Linea will concede to Glynn

"He has to go," you say. "Look at his face."

You all watch with anticipation as Glynn grits teeth and clenches fist. But he stays put!

"Ahhh...!" everyone reacts, seeing you guessed wrong.

"Wow," you say. "I didn't think he'd give in."

"Hasibo, Garett," Linea puts out the call. "Continue as we agreed. Free Frohock, Sunny Tenir, and South Unit, if you are out there, please respond to Quendra's response. You are closest and best suited. Please respond to Quendra's aid."

"Wait, what?" Glynn says.

"I said our unit can't go help her unit," Linea says. "That doesn't mean the others couldn't. We have a team to rely on, so let's rely on them."

Glynn comes to realize that, and looks to feel better about this. Glynn and Linea continue setting the panels for their perimeter.

The camera gives us a glimpse of what's going on with the other units. Free and Sunny are changing course to head West, Free gliding between trees while Sunny uses prehensile hair to swing on branches. Megan's unit, which has Aebe, Kipp and fishman Soglori, is taking shelter behind big rocks but they're under fire from men in forest camo gear.

"West unit, this is what's left of North unit," Sunny says as she swings. "Free and I are on our way. Do you know your coordinates?"

"We have them," Suresh says from above. "Alter your route by five degrees West and continue, you'll be there soon enough."

Free and Sunny head slightly to the right and keep moving. The sound of gunfire echoes up ahead and the encounter between the League's soldiers and Zed's own forces. Free flies in fast, Sunny being support from behind as she swings with her hair. Free dive bombs Zed's men, and things cut away again.

Glynn and Linea continue with their panels, Garrett and Sibo return from their part of the mission.

"All units, this is Central," Linea says. "Our base camp is established, those who can should double time to get here. Status report on West Unit?"

"Still here," Megan replies. "Free and Sunny helped us turn the tide, but... We lost Sunny, and Kipp doesn't look so good..."

The news' effect registers on the Central Unit's faces.

"What happened?" Glynn asks.

"Kipp and I were pushing forward," Aebe says. "But Zed's troops, they had something we didn't expect, and Kipp jumped in the way to take the hit."

"Sunny meanwhile," Free says, "she was busy keeping me and the others safe from above, she didn't realize there were enemies above her. They dropped down from higher branches and dropped her out of the trees..."

"From the trees...?" Linea says.

The Central Unit then looks up and around, and sees camo gear troops making their way from the West!

"Contact!" Linea says as the four scramble to nearest panels.

The Zed troops start shooting and others drop down, the Central Unit gives back fire.

"These panels are a bit small for me," Garrett says as he has to sit down.

"Sorry but it couldn't be helped," Glynn says.

"Sibo, dig!" Linea says.

Sibo digs into the dirt, and then digs his way underground and towards the enemy. Garrett hops inside Sibo's hole and uses that as a trench to better take cover while returning fire. Glynn and Linea fire and hit targets, but more of them come down from the trees.

"I think they're setting up something," Glynn says. "West Unit, what was it that they used on you?"

"Some tripod mounted weapon," Aebe says, "three triangular barrels."

"Our orders were to converge only if a unit encountered Zed himself," she says.

"But we've already lost Tenir's unit," Glynn counters. "We can't afford to lose any more."

"I know we can't," she says, "but our unit moving from the center could cause us to be lost. We're too far from Quendra's unit to really be of help, and we might run into our own ambush."

Glynn clearly wants to argue but he knows she has a point he can't refute. But then he does manage to get words out.

"So we're supposed to leave them to their fate?"

Linea looks at him, her own internal conflict showing on her face.

"Look," she says softly as she steps closer. "I know you're a bit younger than the rest of us, but I'm telling you from my own experience. Difficult decisions like this come with the territory. That's something no test can really ever prepare you for. But I assure you, if we stop Zed here, all that happens today will be worth it."

Glynn grits his teeth again.

"I'm expecting it to be the team with Sunny Tenir. We didn't see much out of Free Frohock, Hamilton Jededa, or Trent Eorun. And while a bird person who can fly would be very useful, he was put on a team where there doesn't seem to be any special advantages. Sadly, they're an expendable foursome."

The pods continue flying down towards their destinations, when *BOOM* one of the pods is hit! We get an inside look at Glynn's pod with Linea, and they look out to see the northward pod in flames and thick smoke!

"Dude, no!" Beast Boy says. "You totally jinxed them, dude!"

"Yeah, that's my job," Jinx laughs.

Everyone lets out a laugh in turn as the joke registers with them. But then it's serious again as you all watch that pod break apart. Free Frohock gets free and carries what looks to be Sunny in his bird feet. They try to swoop and get the other two, but the continuing fire coming from the ground forces them off course.

"Don't they have parachutes?!" Robin says.

"They look unconscious," Cyborg says.

"No!" Glynn says in the film. "No!!"

"Glynn, calm down," Linea says. "There's nothing we can do. We can only focus on what we were told to do."

Glynn grits his teeth as he sits back and shuts out the tragic fate of his comrades.

The other four pods are unharmed thanks to the intercept missiles from the League of Stars ship up above. The focus stays with Glynn's pod as they land at the very heart of the continent. The pod uses rockets to slow their decent, and it breaks through tree branches to come to a gentle landing on the ground. The soldiers take a moment inside to steady themselves and gather their gear before exiting the pod.

"Sibo, you're our main scout," Linea says. "Your tongue is better at picking up scents than any of our noses. Garrett, you're tallest so set the proximity alarms in spots Sibo says are safe."

The two nod and head out while Linea and Glynn pull out more equipment from the pod, such as the med kit, tents and military food provisions.

"Our base camp doesn't need to be pretty," Glynn says. "We should just worry about establishing a fall-back perimeter should Zed's people come looking for us."

"Good idea," she says. "But how would we do that?"

"We'll make the pod the exact center, the last resort. We'll establish the outer most barrier with some panels that the pod can spare. We'll make four- no, eight spots around here for any of us to take cover behind while returning fire."

"I like that idea," she says. "But for safety, we should stay close to each other as we set these panels up, we might end up caught alone against too many enemies."

Glynn and Linea go in the pod and pry off eight different panels, some from the walls and a couple from the ceiling. They walk out, Glynn carrying five panels and Linea three. They establish true north and head that way.

"How far should we go from base camp?" Linea asks.

"Let's just make it ten yards, we need to be able to fall back to the pod safely."

They make it the ten yard mark and hammer one panel into the dirt. They go clockwise, calculating that a 45 degree arc from where they were is over 57 meters, or over 60 yards. Another panel, and they move on.

"Megan Quendra to all other units!" comes over the radio. "We've come under fire! I repeat, our unit has come under fire! Please respond."

"We're on our way!" Glynn says as he turns around to head West.

"No we're not," Linea says as she grabs his arm.

"What're you talking about?" he says. "We have to help them!"
