A Hennepin County judge has struck down an ordinance in Dayton, Minn. that restricts where sex offenders can live in the community, saying the measure is trumped by state law. The far-reaching ordinance barred convicted sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of any school, day care provider, park, playground or public bus stop even a pumpkin patch or apple orchard within the city of Dayton, a rural community of about 5,000 residents northwest of the Twin Cities. The measure was hastily passed by the Dayton City Council in late 2016, after local residents raised alarm over plans by the state to move three convicted rapists from the state sex offender program to a group home in the city.

In a recent decision, Hennepin County District Judge Susan Robiner declared the Dayton ordinance void and invalid because it was expressly designed to conflict with a state law that establishes a legal process for releasing civilly committed sex offenders from the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) and reintegrating them back into society. Such local ordinances, the judge added, would have a devastating effect on the MSOPs ability to discharge offenders from the program.

Looks like the another part of the sex offender registry is ruled unconstitutional. Wonder if the whole thing will be gone in a couple years.

After watching a pornographic video Thursday, a 28-year-old man in Las Cruces, N.M. confronted his girlfriend, according to a news release from the Las Cruces Police Department. Daniel Albert Rojas is in jail over his alleged interrogation methods. Rojas stormed into his bedroom shortly before 3 a.m. Friday and began forcefully inspecting his girlfriends body as she lay in bed, according to the Las Cruces Sun News. He thought he was doing some, admittedly rudimentary, forensic analysis after he noticed some marks on a porn actress body he thought looked similar to those on his girlfriends body, the release states. To the girlfriend, who has not been identified by authorities, though, it was assault. She fled the residence and called police. The couple had been together for six years and has one child together, police say.

Despite their long history in the relationship, investigators determined that Rojas became upset because he mistakenly believed his girlfriend was the porn actress, according to the release. It became clear to investigators that the girlfriend is not, in fact, a porn actress, but whats left unclear is how Rojas thought his girlfriend could pull off living such a double-life. Before she could get out, though, Rojas pulled a pocket knife on her and threatened her as she packed her clothes into a bag, KFOX reported. He is being held without bond in the Dona Ana County Jail, according to jail records. He faces one count of assault against a household member, one count of battery against a household member and a third count, of false imprisonment.

You need money to do that. Like, lots of money. Screening them would be harder and more time-consuming too (no idea how the admin screens normal contributions but I seriously doubt that much automation can be involved with the approval process of a video).

The reason nobody has stepped up to dethrone YouTube is because the huge sum of money youd need to do that, let alone the fact that its hard to gain a userbase without already having one. Plus I seriously doubt that it would be worth putting user-submitted guides up against ones produced by industry professionals. Its different when its your job. Having written a FAQ or two I can say that its a lot easier to work on that in free time than a video is. Especially if youre not making a profit off of it.

GameFaqs predates youtube by several years though. So they could have beat them to the punch.

What kind of leak would?

Asking/saying where broke the street date to buy it early, leaked gameplay footage, etc. But just saying it's on more than one disc, that's fine. Basically anything else from an unsanctioned or unauthorized source.

Sean Russell's life savings were among them. Russell rarely played the stock market and had little investing experience when he put around $120,000 into bitcoin in November 2017. He was stunned when that turned into $500,000 in just one month. "I think there was one morning where I woke up, where I made about 12,000 ($15,600) in one morning on my investment and it just kept going," said Russell. "I was thinking, wow, that's mortgages paid, that's holidays that I've always dreamed of." The dream didn't last for Russell, who works as a property developer in the United Kingdom, buying homes and fixing them up. The price of Bitcoin surpassed $20,000 in December before collapsing. It now trades at $6,300.

Russell attempted to mitigate his losses by shifting money from bitcoin (XBT) to an offshoot called Bitcoin Cash and other cryptocurrencies including Ethereum and Ripple. But that didn't work, and Russell says the paper losses on his initial investment have reached 96%. "It was devastating, quite traumatic, really," Russell said. "I've seen stories on the news of billionaires going bankrupt, and you think how can that be? How on earth did you lose that amount of money? And yet, here I am in that position."

I put $3k in as play money last October/November, saw it increase to around $8k, held, and now I'm at $2k. Since I don't need the money, I'll probably keep it in crypto and forget about it until the next time it makes major news. I don't feel bad about holding when I could have made a $5k profit in under two months - better to get smacked on the wrist than to become obsessed and risk losing serious money.

But yeah, I think those golden days of December 2017 are gone for a long while, if not for good. What can really bring Bitcoin back? It's dominated the news cycle for the last nine months, meaning that everyone knows about and the allure it had last year is gone.

I'd be upset if I missed out on over 100% profit. I think nothing will bring it up back. It was in the news every week during those golden days and it led to newbies joining in and pumping in money which increased the value. Now not many new people are joining in.
