NEO: The World Ends With You (PS4)

I loved the original TWEWY and I've always wanted a sequel to it. So when they announced a sequel so many years later, I was hyped but also a bit wary since you never know how it's gonna turn out.

Well, after playing and platinumming it, I can say I was satisfied. I wanted more TWEWY and I got more TWEWY. The original is still better but the sequel managed to live up to it imo.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (PS4)

I played A Way Out relatively recently and my friend said that Brothers was the game director made first, and that it was also worth playing. It was on the PSN Summer Sale so I decided to get it and try it out.

I wasn't that impressed. The gameplay had some neat elements to it and it was cool seeing what elements transferred over to A Way Out, but I really didn't like the dual joystick controls. It was different but not in a good way. I found myself just struggling with the controls a lot. The story was also pretty simple and didn't really resonate with me, so just overall a miss. That said, it was cheap and short, so not terrible I guess.

Undertale (PS4)

I first heard of Undertale from GameFAQs contests and back then I wasn't super interested in playing it. But, it seemed like it had a decent amount of staying power over the years, so I figured I'd give it a shot when it went on sale.

The game was ok I guess. I went through the game completely blind and didn't think it was too special but I beat the game last night and I think my opinion may have changed a bit. The ending was pretty interesting and reading about the other endings now has made me kinda wanna replay it for the other endings. Still on the fence of whether I want to replay or just watch the other endings on YouTube.

Rise of the Tomb Raider (PS4)

The second game of the trilogy. I actually platinum'd this one since it didn't require any multiplayer to get. Was definitely better than the first one in pretty much every way. Story was more interesting and the gameplay was more fun. Looking forward to playing Shadow next.

Wow, ok. So I bought a Japanese set booster box of Strixhaven to split with a friend and with COVID restrictions finally being lifted we got together to open the packs. 15 packs each.

I got a Japanese Mystical Archive Time Warp and Counterspell and also opened up a Kozilek, Butcher of Truth from the List. Those three cards more than paid for my half of the box and that's not even including the other Mystical Archives or rares/mythics. Amazing.

A Way Out (PS4)

Huh, not often that I post twice in a row!

I've been playing a bunch of multiplayer games with a friend of mine over the last year and he said he heard good things about A Way Out. It was on sale so we decided to give it a shot.

Was a very enjoyable game. Dedicated co-op games are pretty rare and I think this game did it well. The story was interesting, the game didn't take itself too seriously, and the co-op component was just pretty awesome. We're probably gonna have to try It Takes Two sometime as well now.

Tell Me Why (PC)

So every Dontnod game I've played so far was on PlayStation and when I found out that Tell Me Why was a PC and Xbox exclusive I was a bit bummed but, it is what it is. I added it to my Steam wishlist and was waiting for it to go on sale when one day I get an email saying the game is on sale for 100% off, and man, those are the best kind of sales.

I really liked this game. For all intensive purposes, it's a Life is Strange game without being called Life is Strange. I thought the story was very well done and that characters are really interesting. The gameplay itself was a bit lacking but I thought the storytelling more than made up for it.

Nah, prerelease promos are always just a random rare/mythic now. It's not guaranteed.

That said I just opened up the rest of my packs and I opened up a Misty Rainforest too. So two fetches in one kit, I'm happy.

So I got my MH2 prerelease kit. My store was giving out a set booster with each kit so I opened that first. Four rares/mythics in that pack including a Karmic Guide and an extended art Thrasta. My prerelease promo is a Verdant Catacombs.

Not a bad start so far.

Burly Men At Sea (PS4)

Wanted a chill short game and I found a couple articles online saying this one was decent, and I already had it because of PS+ so I gave it a try. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for, short and charming.

Yea, that one is super neat. A planeswalker that can't be negated but can be essence scattered. It can also be cheated in with coco and such too. Kinda fun.

Vampyr (PS4)

I enjoyed Life is Strange enough that I wanted to check out some more Dontnod games. Vampyr was free on PS+ one time and I finally got around to playing it. The combat is pretty janky but the setting and and premise is pretty cool. I feel like they dropped the ball in the final two chapters or so but for the most part it was a fun game.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (PS4)

Never played a Tomb Raider game before but I have the most recent reboot trilogy so decided to give it a try. I liked it for the most part, gameplay was fun and the story was ok. Not a huge fan of the supernatural aspect though.

By far the worst part about the game was the camera though. It was so shaky that it made me nauseous.

Played for a couple hours. Roughly half was with mouse/keyboard and the other half was with a controller.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that random planeswalkers appear and you see stuff like hedrons, it doesn't really feel like a MTG game. I guess that's kinda expected given what it is though.

Overall pretty mediocre game so far, can't see myself playing it much more.

Concrete Genie (PS4)

Wanted a quick and easy game to play and this was free on PS+. Was pretty much exactly the kind of game I was looking for. I liked the art style of the game and was generally impressed with the game. It was kinda fun because at the beginning I thought that the game played like an action adventure game with all the climbing and running even though it was an art game. The gameplay twist near the end was cool.

Didn't expect you to go for it so soon but I'm glad you seem to like it. I thought it was nice cause they went back to a more metally sound but also mixed in a ton of different things from other genres to create something pretty unique.
