i'm not huge on EDH, but my understanding is that "fun" commanders draw cards, fetch cards from the library, or reuse stuff from your graveyard

neither drizzt nor bruenor satisfy that requirement, but they could still be all right

drizzt will live for some fun combos that your opponents will never allow to go off. i'd love to execute a one-attack commander damage kill via phyrexian dreadnought

bruenor might be a nice budget equipment commander- competition for that role is already fierce

Yea, that one is super neat. A planeswalker that can't be negated but can be essence scattered. It can also be cheated in with coco and such too. Kinda fun.

Got to mythic in Limited for the first time nice. Did it with a Jeskai Control deck which is not an archetype I usually go for, but I had a ton of good cards for it. It was already looking good with stuff like Lightning Helix, Counterspell and several other good removal spells, and then I managed to find a Crackle With Power in the 3rd pack >.>

I suspect Garth is going to get played a lot, at least in brawl. That's a goofy enough ability for people to want to toy around with it, and brawl players love their 5 color decks.

yeah I started playing at Odyssey or whatever it was that had the squirrel token flashback spell, so as far as I knew squirrels were just a normal part of the game

then they disappeared forever and it bummed me out

(this also applies to Cephalids, but I dont think those guys are ever coming back)

Congratulations! I always seem to plateau in lower plat, getting to mythic is really impressive

Im terrible at remembering card names, but I got absolutely mollywopped by someone with a card that lets them put humans directly off their deck without paying every time a non-human attacks.

Winota has always been a busted card itself--it's just been a matter of finding a critical mass of good non-humans paired with big human targets to hit into. And yeah the nature of the card definitely means that it's going to run way over you if it hits its draws and your deck stumbles a bit. You really need to hope they draw poorly (and to be fair this isn't the most consistent of decks) or have removal ready for their Winota.

I still don't think it's quite tier 1, but it's definitely closer than it's ever been because Strixhaven gave it really good new tools in Blade Historian and Elite Spellbinder.

color aside, that card is bonkers. slower and more predictable version of yawg's will- until it's broken by cascade & other shenanigans

Not being able to double cast fast mana is a big problem (As a single cast will exile)

So this might as well have suspend 100 for all practical purposes.

Having said that I could see it in an as foretold shell I suppose... Wait isn't as foretold only once per turn?

Adding an extra card required to the combo is pretty awful.

I wouldnt be surprised if someone made a good deck with it, but I also wouldnt be surprised if this is mox tantalite 2.0

I love it! Actually, it's almost not even weird enough for me. After they previewed Urza's Saga weeks ago, I was expecting even more off the wall stuff than we've gotten so far.

They wanted to make cards that otherwise they couldn't, but also didn't need to be in an Un- set. They don't get too many opportunities to just go crazy with card design.

Played paper magic for the first time in over a year.

Shuffled lessons into my main deck after game 1 twice

Been playing Historic for the first time since the Mystical Archive cards released. Using Velomachus Lorehold to cast (effectively) infinite Time Warps good times. Deck is quite fun and actually has some really interesting decision points in the games where it can't just pop off on turn 4.

I also got to win a game by casting Perilous Voyage on someone's Jace, Wielder of Mysteries so that was hilarious.
