Whenever outside factors are heavily hitting me (and they kinda are rn) I just don't really post or go do something else. My AMP has consistently been in the double digits over the past year which I consider progress (though this time they aren't cause I got caught up in some large topics). Too many people that have closed their accounts ended up coming back anyway.

Yeah it was a bad idea to come back here at all after a month of not being here.

I've seen pride flags in Arkansas. I went up to camp this weekend and saw a lot of trump signs and one that said trump 2024 fix America again. A few "dont blame me I voted republican" and one really elaborate diorama with democratic leaders dressed up in chain gang uniforms with trump holding the chains

Because they made up the term "true tax rate" and people are going to think that ProPublica is an authority on this. No one in the tax industry uses that term, and if they did, they would not use it as a percentage of net worth.

The "true tax rate" bullshit. They're taking the amount of tax that people paid, and dividing it by their increase in net worth to get the "true tax rate."

Why is that misleading? They specifically compare the very wealthy to the average American. Unsurprisingly, for most of us our overall wealth and overall tax rate track pretty well. It's only the very wealthy that see a big divergence.

They also show how much they pay in taxes in relation to their reported income, and that's low, too. But wouldn't complaining about that be just as misleading? Both things are fine according to our tax system

You guys against it....Bernie, Pelosi, Cuomo, Schumer, are all opposed to the cap and all support SALT.

The only democrats who are against changing the cap seem to be the ones most concerned about optics, not the actual policy. Optics only matter to low IQ people who dont know what they're talking about, but I guess that just happens to be the majority of the country including democrats apparently.

Bernie opposes raising the salt cap, but I don't care about that. The salt deduction is bad policy and benefits the wealthy, which is why you should oppose having one at all, much less raising the cap

I think your idea of wealth distribution is flawed. And that's exemplified by the graph you keep posting. The 15 to 10 percent for example is the least of ur worries. The top 1% own 40% of the nation's wealth. So why not target them... Equally... Rather than targeting the 5 to 15 percent unequally based on their state.

The graph I posted shows that what you want to do primarily benefits the top 1 percent.

Meanwhile, because California has prop 8 and more progresssive tax brackets, you might only benefit from a couple of thousand in extra deductions without a cap.

You need to go higher in income before you start to see the benefits, but that would start to look silly

You can make 120k and live in a 400k house in Arkansas and not meet the cap. In California you hit the cap.

In Arkansas ur living like a king. In california that's probably average.

If you make a million a year, in either place, you're claiming a bigger salt deduction than someone making 120k in either place

I don't view paying taxes as "getting screwed" but even if I did my contention is that the very wealthy are the primary beneficiaries of the salt deduction, especially an uncapped salt deduction.

U really think the Waltons in Arkansas wouldn't/didn't claim a salt deduction?
