And there it is. The group that has somehow become even more rich during the pandemic, lets make sure theyre stimulated and well wait on it to trickle down.

I love how we're now simultaneously whining that the stimulus checks help corporations but also they aren't big enough.

Biden plan:

$2k stimulus check
$400/week federal UI through September
Child tax credit expanded to $3,000/year per child
Minimum wage raised to $15/hr
Eviction moratorium extended to September
$130 billion in school funding
$350 billion for state and local government aid
Expands the earned income tax credit for the lowest income workers ($530 to $1,500 for childless adults)
$400 billion for national vaccine program, testing, and hiring more health workers.

No, that's manipulating the market rates.

Depends on the type of welfare we're talking about but in general something like food stamps has very little market distortion, far less than a high minimum wage would.

Big corporations with workers on food stamp and welfare programs are essentially the biggest welfare queens theyre subsidized by letting government carry their underpaid workers. So if youre mad about government overspending then you need to investigate the mega corporations first and foremost

Paying market rates for wages and then subsidizing the poor is... good though. It's why we do it.

what exactly is the data you were asking for before? That companies can't afford to pay more? Or something else?

What makes you think most companies have high enough profit margins to cover the full living expenses of anyone regardless of the value they bring to the company?

so you're not going to substantiate your claim then

At 3:50 in the video we get two false but often repeated claims: The rich paid far more in taxes during the 50s and incomes for everyone but the wealthy have been stagnant since the 70s.

The first is a half truth, tax rates were higher in the 50s for the wealthy but that is not the same as the effective tax rate (what you actually pay). Meaning no one was actually paying 90% on any part of their income back then. Tax rates were lowered in part to close many of those loopholes and bring the rate more in line with what people were actually paying.

The stagnant wages claim is even more popular, usually because a bad "report" gets parroted by media outlets every month or so. It makes a good headline. When you use two different inflation calculators for wages and GDP growth, leave out non-monetary compensation, take snapshots of groups of people who change over time, etc you get an inaccurate figure of what is actually happening. This paper is a good read on that if you have the time:

You guys have to understand that you're not immune to propaganda. Truth is not what sounds nice to you personally. It's nice that we can see PragerU for what it really is, but we should apply that same skepticism everywhere.
