I meant "justify" as "provide a plausible reason for," if that wasn't clear. If Tifa appealed to you enough for her to get your vote (whether because of TJF or not) more power to you

Nintendo characters are in games people like, yeah, but it's more than that; they're generally, ...fun to play as.They're in an interactive medium so privileging characterization above all else seems like kind of a pretty weird approach. Suppose it depends whether you've viewing them as characters in general or video game characters.

Haven't seen many people try to argue that most popular Nintendo characters or other barely talkative mascots have "compelling character arcs," though whereas apparently whether Tifa gets strength from TJF is in question here?

Gonna be honest. I can sort of see "generic but well-executed love interest with a cool martial artist theme in FREAKING FINAL FANTASY VII" as justifying how strong Tifa is but if you don't like the character (I'm pretty apathetic) it's really hard not to credit TJF as also being a significant factor there - and it's pretty easy to scoff at that.

There is no new generation of players on gamefaqs. Teenagers pretty much don't use message boards anymore so current gamefaqs is basically a steadily dwindling group of the same old farts who were here a decade ago.

If we're fishing for explanations, I will repeat that Snake basically doesn't even have a face in his picture. I don't think that background goes well with his model either.

Snake's boost from 2006 onward wasn't ALL Smash. MGS4's hype and reception also played a big part.

...And with the general decline in MGS4's reputation since I guess it makes sense for Snake to lose ground!

I don't think that Snake picture is an especially good look for him. Even if you're not on mobile where his head gets cut off, some of his facial features (especially his eyes) just...don't seem to quite be there so you don't actually miss much! That would make sense if it was MGS1 Snake but he seems to have a beard so I don't think it is?

The hype of ZSS seems a little silly. I could maybe sorta buy almost any (good) 3D model of Samus being marginally better than any sprites of her, though.

Mega Man's U.S. percentage has been on a huge rise since Crono almost took the lead while Crono seems to be solidly winning most of Europe. Whether it's a rally or weird trend shift, I think that's what's killing Crono here.

I think most of us called Dragon Quest VIII/Persona 3 wrong not despite Persona having some strengthbut but rather exactly because of it. We figured the rising Persona 4 tide would lift all boats and it...didn't. Instead DQVIII/P3 played out pretty much how the GotD x-stats said it would while Persona 4 got a major boost.
