#90 - Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (DS, 2011)

Ghost Trick is a very interesting adventure title where the main character Sissel is a spirit who can possess a corpse, go back in time prior to their death, and perform tricks on the objects around them to prevent the death from happening. These puzzles eventually lead Sissel to some really interesting reveals as the game progresses through the one night the game takes place in. It also has some great animation, especially with Inspector Cabanela's great dance moves.

#89 - Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX (3DS, 2015)

The first (and not the last) Hatsune Miku game on my list here. Like all the titles, this is a rhythm game hat has one press certain buttons in line with the beat while a movie plays in the background. The series however is very bad at continually re-releasing the same songs over and over - many of the songs in this one I had already played in other games in the series (and we'll get to another series that also does this). While I found it to have the best soundtrack overall (especially with adding Gumi to the game alongside the Crypton vocaloids), the chibi visuals and repeat tracks dragged it down to here in my ranking.

#88 - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GC, 2003)

This is the only Zelda game on the list. As many people on the board know, I am not a big fan of the series at all, but this released simply at a time I had the time to explore the world to its fullest and enjoy myself, and this game had a great world to explore. I've actually never been a fan of Zelda dungeons, and having this world you can explore after finishing the first few was a great opportunity. It's the only console Zelda besides Twilight Princess where I beat the game and maxed out my heart containers. I'm sure I would like Breath of the Wild with its world if I had the time to go through it, but the thought of playing a 150+ hour game just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 (PS4)

It's basically the first game with a new adventure mode, and like the first there's a lot of extra missions to get 100% in adventure mode, which is good since the final chapter was ridiculously hard enough that I skipped pretty much all of it. It was just annoying and I wasn't really having any fun anymore, so I just read the story to the end. I don't remember the first game having such a difficulty spike, so this was new - so I wouldn't recommend this game like I did the first.

#94 - Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS, 2013)

Animal Crossing was always one of my favorite series (even though I skipped City Folk all together) so I eventually went to the early release at Nintendo World in NYC and got the game a day early. Since Animal Crossing is very much entrenched in is mandatory tutorials that have you waste days (and is entirely the reason New Horizons won't be making my top 10 this year) it was actually great to have this early. Even had some great online experiences with both board 8 and some players on the Something Awful forums during my 50 hours with it. It was better than the two previous titles at the very least.

#93 - South Park: The Stick of Truth (PS3, 2014)

I haven't watched much South Park in years and only remember a few episodes, but The Stick of Truth is one of the few licensed games that really stick the landing on the humor of the show and bring it into a honestly great turn-based RPG, despite the framerate drops and slowdown on the PS3 version. Beat the game with a Thief the first time through, and then a Jew to get the one trophy and cleanup the collectables missed the first time around. I still have yet to get to Fractured But Whole, but I'll probably enjoy that one once I do!

#92 - Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey (PC, 2014)

This is probably the least recognizable game on my list. It's basically a RPG crossed up with Scrabble in which you have a pool of 15 letters and you spell a word to damage enemies. Several enemies have different conditions, like taking more damage with a word with a certain letter, or they can affect the tiles used by having them inflict poison when using some of them. It's very addicting, and I've gotten the achievements in it three times - the original and remastered versions on Steam, and the Vita version. Sadly the only other game these developers have made is some idle game for mobile devices, and I'm completely uninterested in that.

#91 - Dynasty Warriors 8 (PS3, 2013)

Dynasty Warriors 8 was the first Three Kingdoms Warriors game I've finished, so it's also naturally the highest musou on my list as well. I initially only completed Wu and Shu first and thought the game to be merely average overall, but eventually got to the true heroes in Wei, Jin, and the Others and was much more invested in their stories. This is still one of my favorite videos regarding the series:

I still have not earned the platinum in this because it is ridiculous for how much time it takes to get the last bronze trophy, and I don't think I'll be doing it any time soon. Still, this game caused me to buy many other Warriors games, some of which I've enjoyed (but not as much as this one) and some that are best left forgotten.

I barely remember anything about Hexyz Force. I know I played it, but I couldn't tell you anything that happened in it. Pretty sure I never beat the game either.

#97 - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies (3DS, 2013)

The first of the 3DS Ace Attorney titles, Dual Destinies brings back Phoenix Wright after sidelining him in Apollo Justice, and actually develops both attorneys as well as new character Athena Cykes in various new cases. While the final case is very good, it doesn't quite reach the high points as the original trilogy's final cases. Fortunately, the excellent DLC case does exactly that, being one of the best cases in the entire series (and is best played in between cases 2 and 3 due to a certain character appearance). Without the DLC case this would easily be well off my list; it's that good of a case.

#96 - Cosmic Star Heroine (Vita, 2017)

A short turn-based RPG from Zeboyd Games that saw releases on many consoles, including the Vita a year after its initial release. The game has a short story mode that clocks in at about ten hours long, but there's numerous sidequests for the various characters and references to Zeboyd's other games they've created to continue their interesting battle system. I enjoyed the game enough that after getting the platinum in the Vita version, a year later I did the exact same thing in the PS4 version as well! It's Zeboyd Games' best title and a definite hidden gem to play around with.

#95 - Fate/extella Link (PS4, 2019)

After the release of the first Fate/extella game I wasn't exactly thrilled with the prospect of playing another one but I bought it anyway due to my liking of the Fate series in general. This game though exceeded any expectations I had by completely revamping a lot of the annoyances that plagued the first game and making it actually fun to slash through hordes of enemies like any good musou. Even doing the whole campaign again on very hard difficulty was fun by using Iskandar to just completely destroy everything in his range. Surprisingly enough, it's a musou not made by Omega Force but definitely is just as fun as any of their titles.

#98 - Diablo II (PC, 2000)

Diablo II is one of the many PC games I sunk hundreds of hours into before I even got my first non-handheld console. I still remember the many Baal runs to level up my character and crafting items with the Horadric Cube. Didn't really do much in Hardcore though, I was never really any good at keeping my character alive. I feel like if I went back to it even today I might get hooked again so I've pretty much decided not to go back to it at any time. It really is one of the best Blizzard games to date.

Let's start this topic off with

Grand Kingdom (Vita)

An interesting SRPG made by a relatively unknown developer headed by a former Vanillaware employee who worked on both Muramasa and Grand Knights History, and has some similarities to those. While the online portion has been shut down for over a year now, I started it beforehand to collect one of the trophies that disappeared due to its shutdown. Finally finished the main campaign - there were only 12 battles and I had overleveled myself in the online portion so they weren't much of a big deal anyways! Still a lot of fun to test out different formations and find out which units do well in-game. I mostly used my Rogue, Witch, Fighter and Hunter team. Found that Medics were mostly a waste of a party slot though there are other troops I could have chosen.

#100 - Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc (Vita, 2014)

Like many people, I got into the series through orenronen's Let's Play on the Something Awful forums, well before this was announced to be localized and was still just a PSP game. As such, while I enjoyed this game's take on the murder mysteries, when I actually played it I knew all the twists in it already, so it ranks lower than the other games in the series by default.

I find the first game to really get you into the series with its crazy twists set up throughout, and while the odd cases are a bit weaker than the others, it's a great game to play through.

Case ranking: 4 > 6 > 2 > 3 > 5 > 1

#99 - Style Savvy: Trendsetters (3DS, 2012)

You might be wondering how a dress-up game somehow managed to make my top 100, and I felt the same way when I bought the first game back on the DS. Somehow, the game's loop of getting characters into hilariously mismatched outfits and doing fashion contests was oddly compelling to me. Trendsetters is very much like the first game - with a lot more items and contests, as well as the addition of men's clothes to go with the women's clothes as well.

I maxed out the wallet in this game and cleared every single International contest in the game, so I definitely had my fill. I think there's been a few Style Savvy games since this one but I haven't really been interested in them after this one. It was hilarious that until recently, the series had more music tracks in Smash than Final Fantasy did, but obviously that's not true now.

A surprisingly good game! I played the only other localized game in the series back on the Wii and was not a fan, so I was wary of this one and instead got it as a gift for my birthday. The musou-like battles are definitely not as appealing as the strategy RPG ones in the other games, but they definitely go by much faster - which has its advantages, as the character development and story is the main focus of the game. Unfortunately for the platinum you have to clear every story battle with every character, but that still doesn't take too long anyway. It's also important to keep a guide handy as each intermission has bromides that can be quite hidden without help (there is a way in-game for clues, but it's in a riddle for each intermission) plus many trophies require relationship points with all the characters as well as your party members.

Overall, I still enjoyed going through the story - it was surprisingly good after I was disappointed with the other game in the series I played. I also enjoyed playing koi-koi for five hours or so - but that's a given, as I've enjoyed doing so in every Yakuza title to date.

Next might be that Kingdom Hearts rhythm game. I'm only a few trophies away from that, but I might do something else beforehand.

The intro is the most appreciated part, but the countermelody that begins at around :42 is really quite a wonderful addition to the song. The piece as a whole is masterfully done, a true work of art that reminds us that yes, true art and beauty does exist in this world, and that there is hope for the future.

This is some 3rd-person multiplayer shooting game that was given out for PS+ this month - not the best, but it was fun for some time. Though even with crossplay enabled almost everyone I saw was a PlayStation player so I'm not sure how well this game is actually doing. Trophies include getting one competitor to level 100, five of them to level 25, and then getting 100 KOs with the 10 starting characters. Takes around 25 hours to finish, though I made use of the two double XP weekends that happened since the game was given out to speed up the leveling.

Nothing special overall, but I enjoyed playing with Nick and Wigs for the majority of the ride up to level 100.
