#52 - Tales of Graces f (PS3, 2012)

Otherwise known as one of the games I bought my PS3 for, considering I bought the system a few weeks after this game's localization was announced. What I got was an absolutely amazing battle system, probably the best from any Tales game up to its release. With this, just playing the game and battling to raise the Eleth mixer and farm titles was actually a blast, and I spent over 150 hours with this game. The bad part is the entire plot (which moves at a snail pace and is laughable pretty much 75% of the time) and the main characters, as Asbel is the dumbest JRPG protagonist ever created, and Cheria is boring and only is there to serve as a love interest for him. Every other character is very good, especially in skit conversations and the final post-game chapter. It doesn't matter though, the game is ranked this high because of how much fun I had just fighting through regular battles and boss battles. People say Berseria is good in that regard but I haven't gotten that far yet.

#51 - Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (GameCube, 2004)

I went from Super Mario RPG to this game because I never owned a N64 originally, and when I actually did play the original Paper Mario I found it to be much less enjoyable than this one. Some of my favorite parts of this game is the entirety of Chapters 3, 5, and 6, as well as the 100-floor bonus dungeon at the end. The story and humor is on point throughout the entire game as well. It's also the source of one of my favorite high quality rips from SiIvaGunner:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VzadkLSbyQ

I do feel like playing it again, but I really don't want to go through the absolute mess that Chapter 2 is. It's too bad the series ended here.

#50 - Picross 3D: Round 2 (3DS, 2016)

hi wigs

Given how many Picross games I've bought from Jupiter on the 3DS and Lightwood Games on the Vita, a Picross game was bound to make the list, and this one is the best. It basically has Picross puzzles in 3D, and uses two colors to make the puzzles a bit different (to be honest, it makes it a bit easier than normal). The amount of content for this simple title is well over 350 puzzles (and more if you have certain amiibos), I was surprised when I 'beat' the game and was rewarded with a huge amount of newer puzzles to try out. I originally rated this as my game of the year in 2016, and it definitely deserved that title (though I would place a few games over it now).

#49 - Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd (Vita, 2014)

The Miku game we got that was more for overseas fans, like myself, as it had a very large track list - but many of the songs are from previous Project Diva titles (including every DLC song). Since those titles were never released overseas, it was a nice addition to the series to get the songs we never had a chance to play. This game also brought in English subtitles, which was great to not having to look online to find out what the songs were actually about. Roshin Yukai is probably my favorite Vocaloid song featured in any of the Miku games, it was my PSN avatar for a few years as well.

#56 - Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (DS, 2010)

999 is the first game in the Zero Escape trilogy, and it definitely starts off with a compelling story of nine people trapped in a submarine looking for a door with a 9. The puzzles are all well done, though you have to solve many of them multiple times to get all the endings. I, of course, went right for the true ending with absolutely no guidance and was predictably locked off because I hadn't gotten another ending. The way the story and the very last puzzle interact with the DS's two screens is something extremely special, and it's why I haven't played any of the newer ports as this functionality is lost, despite additions like the flowchart and voice acting.

#55 - Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman (PSP, 2010)

What do you get when you mix a superhero show with a roguelike and NIS Disgaea humor, you get a dungeon crawler similar to this one! A lot of the NIS comedy is similar to CAPTAIN GORDON, DEFENDER OF EARTH from Disgaea which works extremely well here with the main character training to beat Darkdeath Evilman. Like any reoguelike, you go through randomly-generated dungeons starting at level 1 - this game allows you to power up your character's base stats after every successful run. You get to fight Darkdeath Evilman at the end of each chapter, and the game's depiction of it starts with a simple turn based battle like Dragon Quest and eventually gets more modernized the farther you get into the game. Also added in this game are dungeons based off of worlds from Dengeki Bunko manga titles, each with their own gimmicks to wrestle with. These award costumes based on the characters from the manga that the dungeon is based after.

#54 - Until Dawn (PS4, 2015)

It's rare when you get an adventure game that claims all choices matter and that all your choices actually do matter in the end, and that's what Until Dawn actually does. It places a lot of its choices on the butterfly effect, where your decisions can lead to unintended consequences in future chapters, even death to any of the eight main characters. My first run I only had four characters survive the initial run, and then I actually looked up what happened and what I eventually did wrong. The only annoying part are the stand still QTE prompts that I somewhat cheesed by pushing my controller against the ground. I could never pass any of them the way they actually wanted me to do so.

#53 - Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (Wii, 2007)

The best Fire Emblem game, but also the one no one played because no one can find a copy of it. It follows three different teams - Micaiah's group of the Dawn Brigade in Daein, Elincia's Royal Knights in Crimea, and the Greil Mercenaries from the previous game. As it's a sequel to Path of Radiance and many characters in there were promoted already, this game allows for a third tier of classes over the original promotions, allowing for even higher stats on the characters. The bonus EXP system from Path of Radiance was reworked so that it always gave stat ups if it was possible to do so. The map design is one of the best of the series, and very few of them were reused from Path of Radiance.

#60 - Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS, 2013)

A very good Fire Emblem game! It was pretty easy and had pretty boring map design but we hadn't had a Fire Emblem for five years and that one was Shadow Dragon so it was definitely a pick up for me. I had to get the download copy because Gamestop fucked me over by not getting enough copies to fulfill the preorders. They really crammed whatever mechanics they could into this title as it was probably going to be the last one had it not sold well, so we had the marriage/child character system, skills, pair up, and many references to the past games in the series which was a nice touch for people who had been with the series for a while. The DLC maps are some of the best ones in the series as well, touching on Lucina's actual past and bringing in battles between armies from previous Fire Emblem titles.

#59 - Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F (PS3, 2013)

In 2013 I had barely any knowledge of what a vocaloid even was, so this game was not even on my radar at the time. Though I learned about the demo going through some video game news, and since it was a rhythm game, I decided to try it out. This led me to purchasing the game and not just platinuming it once but actually getting it three times - the PS3 and Vita versions in the US and the JP version shared list. I actually am the first achiever for some of the NA Vita trophies. Check it out:

https://psnprofiles.com/trophy/2478-hatsune-miku-project-diva-f/15-a-place-to-unwind
https://psnprofiles.com/trophy/2478-hatsune-miku-project-diva-f/16-fabulous-furniture

This game also actually balances out the Vocaloids so while Miku does dominate the songs like always, you get to see a lot of the other ones as well.

#58 - Lost Dimension (Vita, 2015)

This game had a lot of potential. The basic example is you have multiple characters with various psychic abilities to defeat a boss known as The End. You have a number of traitors on your team, and every floor you must find the one traitor by bonding with your party members through the various quests at each floor. I don't actually remember the mechanic on how this worked, but I do remember having to do multiple playthroughs because one character kept getting chosen as a traitor before I could get their bond maxed out. This game also allows for you to sequence break in battle very well; there's one mission with a boss behind a locked door, with switches located all over the map. You could activate all the switches to unlock the room... or use the psychic who has a teleport ability and teleport your entire party into the boss room instead (though, like anyone else, he could be chosen as a traitor and could render this pointless.) There's several missions that have alternate ways to play and I felt it was very interesting to keep playing through the multiple times I went through the game.

#57 - Yakuza Kiwami (PS4, 2017)

This is actually the first Yakuza game I played. And I thought it was really good! Enjoyed pretty much all of it, the story, minigames, combat, and Majima. The climax battles were also a nice challenge - I felt none were too hard and they really tested how much you knew the combat system (well, except for the one where you play as Date). I feel like going from 0 to this game would make you like it a lot less, but that did not happen to me. Even taught myself how to play mahjong, oichi-kabu, and koi-koi (the best minigame) through this. It does have a lot of the stupid mini-games like cee-lo ported over from Yakuza 0 just to inflate the completion list, so that lowers it a bit in my rankings. And screw the car chase, doing it on Legend is still my the only thing standing in the way of getting the platinum in this, and I've tried it too many times to count.

I really enjoyed Atelier Iris and have played a couple of these since then. They've gone too far into anime girl game I think for me. Which is too bad because I want to like them.

The series has always been like this from the beginning, but the first five games that were like that were never released overseas. The Iris trilogy was a shift towards a traditional JRPG more than the other games.

#64 - EarthBound (SNES, 1995)

EarthBound is one of the most unique RPGs ever created, taking place in a modern world (well, modern for the 90s) and bringing its own blend of humor to a great RPG. I've played through the game three times and have tried the Rock Candy trick on one of those, leading to some hilarious stats at the end of the game. I even ran an EarthBound mafia game here on Board 8 at some point, where I put a lot of thought on assigning each role as best as possible. The rolling HP bars also add a degree of strategy to the turn based aspect, where you can save a party member from collapsing by healing them before the HP rolls down to 0. The final boss is also a very unique battle - probably a bit similar to Earthbound Beginnings, but this was the first game we got!

#63 - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Switch, 2018)

Ultimate is the best Smash game, and probably the only one besides Melee that I've put a significant amount of time into. I like how the game, while still more of a Nintendo collection with the majority of its roster, is more of a crossover between many video game franchises - most of the long, well-known third-party franchises that have games on Nintendo systems have one or more characters included in Smash. The sticker battles have a lot of thought put into them as each fight references the sticker character as best as it can (and I still have many of these to finish). Playing online is very well done for parties as well, as I've played online with many of the people making writeups in this very topic!

#62 - Final Fantasy VI (SNES, 1994)

This is the highest mainline Final Fantasy game, but not the highest Final Fantasy on my list. Remember that for much later. It's the first Final Fantasy that I played a significant amount, and even though I never beat it originally, I eventually did manage to finish everything in it years later. So for me, it's the title I have the most significant memories of, more than any of the other titles. I am a big fan of many of the supporting cast in this game as well, it's a shame Square never really brought back some of the commands that some of the characters have, like Sabin's blitzes, which were unique to this game.

Edgar > Locke > Sabin > Celes > Shadow > Relm > Mog > Terra > Cyan > Gogo > Gau > Strago > Setzer > Umaro

#61 - Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland (PS3, 2011)

The funniest thing about Atelier Totori as I ordered it with Disgaea 4 from NIS's shop shortly after getting my first PS3. I've played through Totori at least four times yet have never gotten past chapter 5 in Disgaea 4. Anyway, Gust's 2nd Atelier game for the PS3 here is a much better game than its predecessor Rorona as they actually made exploring the huge world in it fun, and the adventurer tasks gave a lot more freedom than the restrictive castle assignments. Totori is also one of the better protagonists in the series, better than her counterparts in the Arland quadrilogy. I've enjoyed every time I've gone through this game, and I recently just started it again on the PS4!

It's Puyo Puyo Tetris 2! It's exactly like the first one, even the trophy list is the same. The only difference is a new story mode that is somewhat frustrating at times. Other than that, there's basically nothing new if you already have the first game. Skill battles are pretty dumb.

I still don't know why I bought this one. Finished the story mode last night. Pretty similar to Valkyria Chronicles if everyone was a tank instead of having some (overpowered) foot soldiers and a few tanks. Nothing in the story mode was too challenging, except the one mission where you have to traverse an entire mountain stage in five minutes, where falling off or getting bombed from above is instant game over. Made it with only a few seconds on the clock.

Along with the previously mentioned Mercury Hg, I was heavy into leaderboards when I rarely pay attention to them. I was racing early on, and I remember finishing in the Top 100. This was a game that had a player base at least in the hundreds of thousands, so I came to the conclusion that I was somehow a natural at this game and worked hard at refining my technique. I routinely finished in the Top 250. With the game being 12 years old and Disney having shut down Black Rock Studios almost 10 years ago, I have to assume that online servers have been shut down, but every now in then, I wonder if they still exist and what my global rankings look like now.

The online server for Pure is still up and functional, if you actually do want to check!

Taking the base game in Theatrhythm and turning it into a similar rhythm game for the Kingdom Hearts series makes for a very good game. Even me, whose Kingdom Hearts knowledge amounts to Kingdom Hearts I's plot up to Hollow Bastion and the Kingdom Hearts in a nutshell videos by Just A Pancake, found a lot to like from this game. Not a fan of Melody of Memory's accuracy-based score system, as it really cheapens the worth of a full chain overall and I found myself getting FCs with points below other runs where I didn't hit all the notes, but hit the ones I did with better accuracy. Overall though, this is an easy rhythm game especially compared to a lot of the titles I tend to play in this genre. The platinum requires a bit of a grind with its 100,000 enemies defeated trophy, but it's not much of a problem. Hope you like Xehanort's boss battle theme!

Even with this platinum collected I don't plan on going back to Kingdom Hearts I as I feel the game has aged extremely poorly and just isn't a good game to finish - if I do play any other games in the series it will probably be whatever comes next after this one. My next platinum will probably be Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 when I get its grind of Mino clears out of the way.

#68 - Chrono Trigger (SNES, 1995)

ranking it lower than both MSG and Bartz, oh no now Nick is disappointed

In all seriousness, Chrono Trigger is a very solid SNES RPG that still plays well today. While I do find the initial 2300 AD portion to be very long (and have had several replays die there) the game itself is very well presented, and explores time travel in a way that makes some sense unlike some other games that use it. The game having the enemies visible to fight and having multiple tech attacks between party members still leads into great gameplay today. It's why many games try to copy from Chrono Trigger and few seem to actually succeed due to various reasons (though Cosmic Star Heroine did fine! That's why it's on my list as well.)

#67 - Tales of Xillia (PS3, 2013)

This has always been one of the lower points of the series, was definitely unfinished and had to rush to an ending somewhere, and yet I still think of it as my second favorite Tales title, The battle system being a mix between the more classic titles and Graces f (the best combat in the series) was definitely a factor, plus having a battle system where every character is actually fun to play. Most Tales games have only a few of the characters be actually usable by the player. The plot is sometimes laughable even when it isn't rushing ahead and the characters can be frustrating at times, but the overall game is very fun to just keep playing through the end. It's also nice to have a lead that isn't dumb as rocks, and while Jude fits that mold, Milla definitely does not.

#66 - Final Fantasy VII (PS1, 1997)

While Final Fantasy VII is definitely overrated, I still like it even though I only finished it many, many years after it was initially released. I still enjoyed myself as the Materia system still works and it's definitely satisfying taking out some of the harder bosses like Carry Armor. It's weird that there's so much talk about that one spoiler when other Final Fantasy characters have done the same in much better scenes, and that there's an even bigger spoiler when you get midway through disc two. There's a huge amount of side content here but I never managed to finish it all, and I never did get Knights of the Round either. Still, I expect I'll finally do it someday when I play through the PS4 port.

I do also like Final Fantasy VII Remake, but that seems to be carving out its own path. More on that when I post my top 10 for 2020 in a separate topic!

#65 - Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, 2007)

Galaxy has always been my favorite of the Mario platformers, so no surprise that it is the highest one on my list. It is the only one of the 3D platformers where I've actually collected all of the base game's stars, something I haven't done in any of the others (I didn't really do much as Luigi, didn't feel like playing through the entire game again.) The game still holds up today as I played a bit of it in the 3D All-Stars remaster and I still found it fun, unlike the other two games in the collection. I don't think another game will ever unseat Galaxy here as I've generally moved farther away from platforming games since, only playing a few titles like Super Mario Odyssey. It definitely isn't my genre so Galaxy being this high is quite an accomplishment.

#72 - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (Vita, 2015)

Even after enjoying the first two Trails games I played I sat on this one for way too long; didn't play it for a year and then set it down for almost three years before finally beating it this year. I'm not sure why I waited so long as it's very similar in structure to how the original Trails in the Sky was - building and explaining a new region to players while setting up a large plot happening behind the scenes. The bonding point mechanics are almost a complete ripoff from Persona, but like that series it helps develop the side characters and other party members very well. The battle system is very easy to break apart, and it's always fun to make characters with 100% dodge just to laugh at bosses.

#71 - Super Mario Odyssey (Switch, 2017)

There are a lot of moons in this game. Maybe a bit too many.

In all seriousness, I did enjoy my time with Super Mario Odyssey. It has probably the best level in any Mario game with Metro Kingdom / New Donk City. I definitely like a lot of the 2D moons as well as it was an interesting addition to the game as well. I also like both of the vocal themes in this game, and occasionally listen to each of them outside of playing the game.

#70 - DJMAX Respect (PS4, 2018)

DJMAX Respect, on top of being a new release in a series that was pretty forgotten overall (especially outside of Korea), is actually a huge project that spans the entire series and an example on what most rhythm game franchises should try to do eventually. DJMAX Respect takes all the songs from the first two games and adds a number of its own tracks to provide an amazing experience. It continues to add songs from other games in the series through DLC: we never had official releases of Clazziquai, Black Square, Trilogy and others, but all of them are represented here. Also added in Respect is various collaborations with other games like adding songs from Guilty Gear, Girls' Frontline, Deemo, and others. It's truly one of the largest libraries in any rhythm game; not as expansive as Rock Band or Rocksmith, but it's definitely continually updating.

#69 - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (PC, 2000 and GBA, 2001)

My favorite Tony Hawk game, and the one I spent the most time with as a kid is easily Pro Skater 2, of which I played on both the PC and the GBA versions. I still remember all the secrets from each of the levels, and seeing them all implemented in 1+2 this year was pretty cool. I think, through all of the plays I did, that I completed the Career with every skater at least once, including Spider-Man. The computer I did it on is obviously long gone, though, so I can't check it. I did buy all of the Tony Hawk games up to the first Underground when I disliked where the series was going and dropped it, but it was one of my favorite series when I was a kid. The GBA version was very similar to the main games, even, and while it had to remove some of the levels and shrink some of the others, it was a worthwhile addition and still played very well.

#76 - Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES, 1996)

One of the best of the various Mario RPGs, this one by Square is one of the first RPGs I played, with me playing on ZSNES since I never owned the original console. I must have beaten the game three or four times during that span. I have tried replaying it since with the Wii's VC but the beginning is extremely slow and I'm not sure how I ever managed to get through that part. I could never figure out how to win at the Yoshi races. Geno (and Mallow too, I guess) is a boring character and doesn't really need to be in Smash. Speaking of Smash,

#75 - Super Smash Bros. Melee (GC, 2001)

I never did own a N64 so Melee was the first Super Smash Bros. game I owned, and what a game it was. I normally dislike most fighting games, but Smash is the one series I can still enjoy due to its party style. Back in Melee I mostly played Falco, Kirby, and Ness (I've used Ness in every Smash game). Cleared all 51 events, beat classic/adventure/all-star with all characters, etc. I did never get all the trophies in this one, I felt some requirements were either too hard or too tedious, not sure which at the time. This was always one of the games my friends and I would play at each other's houses throughout middle and high school.

#74 - Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (DS, 2010)

The best game in the Layton series, Unwound Future takes Layton and Luke to London in the future, accompanied by Luke's future self. As with every Layton plot, nothing is as it seems to be here. This game delves a lot into Layton's past which was missing from the other two games preceding this one, and still delivers a great amount of good puzzles throughout the adventure. It's unfortunate that the prequel trilogy never really hits the same impact that this game does.

#73 - Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum (DS, 2007)

The 4th generation Pokemon games, along with HG/SS which I already ranked. The big thing about this generation was the physical/special split for moves which allowed for several Pokemon to be a lot more useful - like a water Pokemon having a high attack stat. I mostly played Pearl and Platinum, and this generation is somewhat special for me as it's the first generation where I actually did catch them all with all 493 Pokemon in the dex. Team Galactic's theme is also the best evil team music in any Pokemon game.

#80 - The World Ends With You (DS, 2008)

The World Ends With You is one DS game where the stylus matters a lot, and is hard to master. The game stars Neku, an extremely introverted boy who recently died and is forced to play in the Reapers' Game to return to life. The main gimmick of the game is that there is combat on both screens of the DS, and it forces you to both use the buttons to control the top screen and the stylus to control the bottom. It's a very rewarding experience and I enjoyed a good amount of the game, especially the soundtrack - Three Minutes Clapping is still one of my favorite video game songs.

#79 - Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory (Vita, 2018)

Digimon Story has been mentioned quite a few times already, they are a bunch of JRPGs released recently with a very self-aware translation. This game in particular has a worse storyline and more annoying side characters than the first game, but the core turn-based combat and monster collecting/raising is still just as good. Only annoyance for me is the platinum took two trips through almost the entire game, and it's a long one. I still remember getting this one finished in an airplane flying back from Extra Life back in 2018, it was quite the experience.

#78 - The Walking Dead Season One (Vita, 2012)

Nick just went over this one; this is the best Telltale game released and none of their other titles come close. Even with Telltale's continuance throughout their games of choices that barely matter in the end, this one has the best story line and characters and wraps it up with a successful final episode. The Vita version runs like absolute garbage but it didn't detract from the game too much. I played Season Two but was ultimately disappointed in how it played out - for me, the story basically ends here.

#77 - Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale (PC, 2010)

Capitalism, ho! One of the more unique games on this list, Recettear stars a young girl named Recette tasked with running an item shop to pay off a huge debt accumulated by her father. The item shop portion of the game has a surprising amount of depth, with different ways to accumulate more money through several random events, haggling with customers, and crafting more items through materials gained from dungeon crawling. Speaking of the dungeons, this is probably the one section that could have used more improvement, as the dungeons are somewhat boring to traverse as you continue through the game as they all consist of the same corridors and most enemies are simply palette swaps of each other. The game however is the only one of its kind to gain any success here, and I definitely sinked a good amount of hours into it myself.

#328
#84 - Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland (PS3, 2012)

The 3rd game in the now tetralogy of the Arland games in the Atelier series, Atelier Meruru was originally made to be a send-off to the Arland games by bringing back characters from the 1st and 2nd games to tie everything together. The PS3 and Vita versions I've played both have various (and completely different) problems ranging from pop-in of enemies and age regression of a character, but the end result is another solid entry in the series, with both great music and one of the best alchemy systems in the series - so much that when they remade Atelier Rorona they took this game's system to use as its base.

#83 - The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC (PSP, 2011)

The Trails series that Board 8 has been raving about started here, with a very overlooked PSP title that started as a commercial failure for XSEED. The game itself starts as two young bracers traveling through the kingdom in order to become full-fledged bracers and eventually develops into a much bigger plot behind the scenes. By the end of the second chapter I was hooked on this series, and placed this title at 2nd on my top 10 games of 2011. The characterization of all characters - including NPCs - has been one of the series' highlights, with dialogue constantly changing as major events in the story happen. A lot also carries over through a save import to the sequel - but I'll talk about that when we get to that game.

#82 - Kirby Super Star (SNES, 1996; version played - DS, 2008)

The only Kirby game on my list but still the best one - this title places Kirby in a number of different scenarios, with even more added into the DS remake that I played. My save file is permanently at 98% - I've tried many times to finish the True Arena but I have not been able to do it. Even with that, the various scenarios in the game are all fun to play through, fitting Kirby perfectly. My favorite scenarios are actually the ones added in Ultra, the Revenge of the King and Meta Knightmare Ultra, with The Great Cave Offensive in 3rd (though the Smash stage based on it is terrible).

#81 - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS, 2001)

I still remember getting into this series as one of my friends in high school lended his copy to me one day. That night I played all the way through the first four cases, and eventually finished the fifth two days later. The game still holds up even today, as I replayed the game last year. 1-4 is still one of my favorite cases in the series - though, I am very indifferent towards 1-5 as it is still too easy to get lost in the investigation and it really drags on with some of the most annoying witnesses in the game (though the villain is one of the best!) I eventually got my own copy years later when they reprinted it alongside Ghost Trick.

#87 - Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (3DS, 2014)

A very unlikely crossover gives a pretty great game! It's not as good as the better games of either franchise (you'll see more from both of these later in the list), but it does a good job of combining the gameplay of both series very well. The plot twist at the end is such a ridiculous twist right out of the Layton series and I still liked it. I never went back and did the extra DLC chapters in this one though, for some reason. Not much to say about this without delving too much into spoiler territory, though!

#86 - Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver (DS, 2010)

The first Pokemon game, and it's the remake of the generation 2 games. Generation 2 was one of the best games that missed my list, and the remakes improve on it in practically every way. So much of the additions in HG/SS have never returned in the series (as Game Freak tends to do) such as the toggable Running Shoes and the Pokeathlon, which I can admit I spent way too much time enjoying my time with. I also really enjoyed Voltorb Flip much better than any of the slot machines - shame that it was taken out of any future titles.

#85 - Taiko no Tatsujin: V Version (Vita, 2015 (JP))

The first game on this list that was not released in NA. This was my first game in the Taiko series and I still haven't played a version with the drum controller, but this was a good game to playa round with and a very difficult challenge to get the platinum with the need to go very far in its adventure mode (when I couldn't understand what was going on) as well as completing 25 songs on Oni difficulty (though I did use shin-uchi mode to cut that in half). Looking forward to playing the Switch version of the DS adventure games since they seem similar to this one.
