Instead, I went with the 'canon' route of Hijikata here and got a much better tale, even if Chizuru is kind of a doormat half the time in the story, I still enjoyed it enough. Anyway, I'll take my write-up from the beaten games topic I made a few days ago, since most of it still applies here: "Definitely a very good visual novel. It doesn't surprise me that the director of this game was also the director for Ever17, as the game shares a lot of similar themes, similar pacing issues, and a final route that reveals everything going on behind the scenes. I feel that most of the Before route could be completely cut from the game and it would still work out extremely well - however the rest of the game is excellent and definitely worth a read, though the unique way of accessing certain scenes may require a guide. I initially got a normal ending which resolved nothing in the final chapter my first time through." To continue from that, the epilogues for each character require accessing every scene between the characters throughout all the routes, and some can be tricky to get as you have to increase their bonding with the other characters through the game's choices, which is easy to screw up. I did this in the Before route as I disliked it as shown above, and missed both character's exclusive scenes - still got the good ending for that chapter, but then the game skipped the epilogues at the end. Luckily, accessing all of these extra scenes is required for the view all scenes trophy at the end as well (and doesn't take much time when you choose to skip all read dialogue). Finally, at the time of the above paragraph, I hadn't done the Xtend Episode yet - it's basically a recap of the past events from different character's points of view, however it adds more scenes to further the character development of everyone, which is a nice edition that wasn't in the original version released in Japan only. It also unlocks a short information tip for each character, which explained their past and what happened to each of them after the game's events. If you've ever played DJMAX you'll feel right at home, though it's more similar to the recent rhythm release MUSYNX with the top-down chart. It was done pretty well in my opinion, and the puzzles are definitely well made and require some good thinking to get past.
