You could stay in a $500 a night hotel every day and still not some close to running out of money. Over 50 years that is about 9 million dollars. I think about $500 is what a very nice 5 star charges.

I thought it was great, one of the best Stephen King adaptations. Kids were all great, and I think Pennywise was really good too. Tim Curry was great, but I don't think you should be so quick to take away from the new one.

Apparently massive hidden conflicts of interest and then playing the victim card for massive profits isn't enough to annoy people? She cheated on her boyfriend with a journalist at a publication which then gave her game good reviews and, when she was confronted, she accused all gamers of being misogynist before repeatedly attacking them to build up a huge pile of cash for herself. She's a pile of shit and, if you don't "get" that, there's something wrong with you.

That link you posted does not show in correlation that she slept with a journalist for a good review. It says she had a relationship with someone that works at Kotaku, but that he did not even review her game, and only wrote one piece on a game she worked on.

Regardless of that, I don't know that much about her, or if she profited on playing the victim card, if she did, then the people who paid her are stupid, and maybe she is good at marketing herself?

I still don't see how, even if all that is true, her getting death threats is OK. Honestly, I would of never even heard of her or that Anita lady if it wasn't for super angry gamer dudes.

There are a lot of really stupid people in the world. Unfortunately, they are the ones that have the most kids for the most part.

This is one of the reasons I am glad I won't be having any kids. It has to be hard with the internet today to really monitor everything, eventually they will just go to a friends house that has unlimited access so they will watch whatever they want anyhow.

Glad you try to keep track and watch what they are consuming, sometimes I am shocked at how oblivious most parents are.

My suggestion would be don't even let them watch anything on youtube. Stick to netflix and other streaming services you may more control of.

Broadcast television is not even in 1080p yet. Streaming is doing better, and there are some 4k broadcasts and the HDR does make a difference, but that is still kind of limited.

I don't think 4k is anywhere near considered a must have, but it is very nice. Gaming is moving that way quicker though, so it may be the next generation of consoles where you would want to seriously consider upgrading if you haven't already.

I just find it irritating that people think they can make an informed opinion on something they have actually not seen or read.

To be fair, when a movie has been in development hell for years, and then when it finally comes out the trailer that is meant to sell it as a must-see film makes it look absolutely terrible, and then critical reviews start pouring in and its approval rating is bottoming out in the teens, pretty much every single sign is pointing at it being a huge turd.

Is it possible for a movie to overcome all of that and still manage to be good? Sure. But it's also incredibly unlikely.

And in a world where we're being constantly bombarded all year long by massive blockbuster movies, and there are thousands of hours of quality film, shows, games, or other forms of entertainment available almost instantaneously on a whim, a lot of people are no longer willing to waste a few hours and spend $10+ to go see a movie in an actual movie theater if all signs are pointing to it being crap.

20 years ago "See it for yourself before you make any judgments!" might have been a valid argument, but it isn't now, and it really hasn't been for years.

Like it or not, in a world of functionally infinite entertainment options, any movie needs to do everything in its power to win you over long before the time comes to put your money down to see it.

Sorry to raise this from the dead, but you kind of missed my point. I understand why you may not want to go see a movie that has gotten bad reviews and rumors of behind the scenes issues. I skip a lot of movies like that too, if I didn't have interest in the Dark Tower before, most likely would of skipped this as well.

My point is that people talk trash on something they didn't see. So, they don't want to go see it and waste their time, but they spend their time spewing hate about it on the internet. Seems so pointless to me.

When Batman vs Superman came out, it got terrible reviews and I thought it did not look good from the previews, so I chose to not waste my time and money and go see it. That is it, I did not get on a message board and talk about how it failed and it was crap. I have no problem with some skipping a movie, or even saying I don't have any interest in seeing. It just bothers me when people talk about a movie like they have already seen it because other people said they did not like it.

I personally love both of the prequel movies. I think they get too much hate, and people are too critical of them. They are just movies, horror films usually have plot holes and people doing stupid things.

Hearing other people shitting on it is just sort of gratifying in a way, because it kind of confirms that I wasn't just taking crazy pills when it looked like garbage to me, because a lot of other people seem to agree.

Though I'm waiting to see how long it takes before people start spinning this and blaming the movie's (presumed) failure on casting Idris Elba as a white character who is supposed to look like a young Clint Eastwood, because mumble mumble racism something (in spite of nearly every critic saying he was about the only redeeming feature IN the movie).

Speaking of Idris Elba, if you have issues with the movie, I don't see how he can be it. He was really good. I don't think acting is the issue with the movie, it is just kind of rushed and they tried to put a bit too much from a large series into one movie. Overall though, I think it is entertaining if you kind of think of it like a fan fiction take on a Stephen King story.

You probably need to work on your interviewing skills. Not sure what kind of jobs you are interviewing for, so not much else I can say on that.

You don't even have the best 2 on the list. #1 is Ace Ventura 2, one of the greatest comedies of all time, #2 is The Cable Guy.. on the list I guess Dumb and Dumber. Heck, Me, Myself, and Irene is better than a lot on the list.

In boxing, fights that match up a slugger versus a boxer, usually the boxer has the advantage. Same type of thing here. I am not a Mayweather fan, but he will win this easy.

Mayweather will probably knock him out and will probably do it pretty early in the fight. This fight is a farce and kind of a fart in the face of other boxers. McGregor is not an experienced boxer.

Absolutely DVD to Blu-ray. I have a 4k player, and they look amazing, but blu-ray still looks amazing as well. HDR makes a bigger difference in 4k.

Eh, is Sam Adams really that bad, or is there a bit of a confirmation bias going on since they're pretty big? I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't think they're anything special, but I'm guilty of resenting them a bit over their size (particularly in how they influence the definition of a "craft brewer" so they can include themselves), so that could cloud my judgment. It's not something like Coors or Budweiser when you can clearly taste that it's cheap beer. There are probably plenty of Sam Adams beers you could give me in a blind tasting that I wouldn't realize were theirs.

They definitely make some good beers, their specialty beers are good. The regular boston lager is nothing special, but beats your generic American pilsner every day and is easy to drink. I definitely wouldn't have a corona over one as Jiggy said, that is just nasty.

I won't argue with you that it's a little annoying that stores are overrun with mostly IPAs but it just seems that a lot of people I know drank stouts and porters more when they first started getting into good beet myself included. They're sweeter and more accessible overall whereas the bitterness of IPAs is more offputting to a casual drinker I think

Fair enough, but I know plenty of people very off-put by the darker beers as well. Certain IPAs I like a lot, but I find a lot of them are just not very good, so I tend to avoid trying new ones lately. I am certainly up for any recommendations though. I still like an IPA over a Hefe any day.

I have never been a big fan of IPAs. There are some that I like a lot, but others that are just kind of hard to drink. I am more of a porter or stout fan, but like a lot of different styles. Kolsch is a good beer style I recommend giving a try if you haven't had one before. If you can find Franconia Kolsch where you live, give it a try.
