It took me months of doing Newegg shuffle, but I finally got an EVGA 3070 at a decent price from it about a month ago. It was actually my second time "winning", but the first was for a 3080 and monitor combo at a ridiculous markup.
This except it was a Gigabyte 3070ti and I bought the ridiculous gpu + monitor combo. My buddy was in the market for a ridiculous monitor so I ended up pawning it off to him at cost.

How does Face ID work in a pandemic where everyone is wearing masks? I guess the "premium" is Apple wanting you to buy a $400 watch to do what Face ID cannot.
I believe you can update your Face ID to work with a mask (so it just checks the top 1/3-1/2 of your face), but I haven't tried it.

I voted Apple because it just feels better to use and I don't really customize my phone at all other than the wallpaper (which I never change after setting). Also the fact that if anything goes wrong with it (which has happened once) I can just go to literally any apple store and have it fixed right then and there is nice.

If you can get away with that in the office, imagine what you can get away with with WFH. I've spent entire Fridays watching Netflix before
Nah you need to balance your WFH and Office productivity. When I WFH there's some days where I just log in and check my email every few hours, but in the office on Fridays you don't need to even pretend to be productive whereas most other days you do.

Fridays are pretty chill in the office imo. Everyone's just pumped for the weekend and a bunch of other people are WFH so you can basically just fuck around all day since the workplace productivity is at its lowest

Any tips for speedleveling? Im like 72 hours in and only level 38 lol. No queue times on my world.
The best way to level is just to spam town board quests, but it gets pretty boring. I basically just slammed the main quests and then finished area quests in the regions I liked (WW, EF, BW, ER) or had good rewards (WF, RS). For BW in particular I wanted my first house to be there so I would just do all the town board quests + PVE faction quests (since my server is 90% purple and I am green, no PVP).

Your first house gets a 50% discount and to buy the best house (most storage opportunities, shortest TP cooldown) you need 30 territory rep, hence the BW grind since it saves 10k gold.

EDIT: The town board quests are the best because they can range from something simple like "get water" to quests that scale to your level (e.g. use hard to find cooking mats to make a specific item). The simple ones are... well simple and are basically just free exp. The harder ones might require you to buy some mats but can give more xp than some of the harder quests. I skip the ones that I find annoying/too expensive (aka like all the fishing ones and then a few misc ones)

Hit 60 today, it was nice. Main complaints:

  1. I wish fucking EVERYTHING didn't require basic mats. "Oh cool I can make starmetal tools, oh it's like 50 iron per starmetal bar and I need 50 bars for a full set of tools". It's not necessarily hard to get that much iron, but it is a bit annoying and just make prices very bottom heavy (iron ore is like .80g each on my server, starmetal ore is .15g). This is kind of helped later on with reagents since you can basically guarantee steel bars x2, except...
  2. I wish it was easier to target farm reagents rather than just making money and buying them. I'm working on furnishing now and the amount of sandpaper (and to a lesser extent flux) I'm using is frankly disgusting.

Wait, they have to earn a bonus in order to repair their work vans?

What the actual fuck?
My buddy is actually a supervisor at one of the DSPs near me. His boss purchased the work vans and then the employees just drive them. There's usually a small team of employees that just spend the day driving various vans to a shop they have a contract with for everything from oil changes to new paint (all on company dime afaik).

I do know my buddy's manager had to use the work auto insurance after some teens smashed up a brand new van. They had asked Amazon about covering it and they basically said "it happens" and paid nothing. This did lead to the manager blacklisting that area for deliveries until Amazon started offering more money lmao

But I will say that Dragon Slayer is pretty iconic, and I wish I could play it again, or that it could get a sequel.
I believe it does have a sequel in OSRS. Congrats though!

i've heard that coding boot camps are a scam, but i'm guessing it's one of those ymmv types of things

-

anyway, do you mind sharing how the experience was? grueling? strenuous?

i've always been (or at least i think i am) a math-centric person (have never received lower than an A in any math class i've ever taken), but i've also never taken anything above some calculus (got a b.a. in something completely unrelated to math)
I think it depends what one you go to, but I remember them talking to us when we finished the bootcamp and being like "hey yeah hopefully you guys know we're legit now so please leave a review".

It was pretty chill in all honesty. I had some coding experience from college and our "batch" was learning full-stack Java (html/css -> javascript -> typescript -> postgresql -> java -> spring boot -> AWS -> docker) which wasn't particularly difficult. We'd basically just go to "class" for 8 hours a day and then get a project every once in awhile.

Project 1) Basic html/css website, solo assignment. "Hi my name is Apodyopsist, here's my background, here's some links to songs I like"

Project 2) Make a website for a made up restaurant, partner assignment. Basically the same as project 1 as far as website complexity html/css wise, but you needed to have some javascript so people could order online and get their totals.

Project 3) Full stack website with a login page and 2 main pages (one for a lower level user, one for a higher level user), partner assignment. For ours we did an employee reimbursement system. You'd log in as an employee or manager: employees could submit a reimbursement request ("I want $200 for travel expenses, here's a lil note about what I spent money on") and managers could approve/deny them.

Project 4) Full stack website with multiple pages hosted on AWS, group assignment (your project 3 partner + one other team from project 3). We did a hotel with multiple user levels and guest registration where you could check out floor plans/pricing/ask for a viewing.

Projects usually had ample class time but sometimes you'd have to go home to finish it. We had homework assigned maybe 2-3x in the 4-5 months I was in the bootcamp. After we finished the boot camp we had an interview with someone from Revature to make sure we knew enough to get by in an interview, and then we interviewed with companies until we got picked up.

I did a coding boot camp (Revature) and then had a 2yr contract with them. Ended up getting 2 projects where I did fuck all (but pretty underpaid) but could work from home like half of the week. Covid made me permanently WFH. Once the contract was up I got a new job where I make 60% more and somehow do even less work.

Of the people I still talk with from the boot camp (my roommates) we have:
  • 1 guy at the same place I used to be at. He works 60hrs/week minimum. He always had to be in office prior to Covid and they're very eager for him to stop being WFH.
  • 1 guy who worked at a different place but also does fuck all. He recently got a new job where he kind of works - maybe 15hrs/week? With Covid he's now permanently WFH.
  • 1 guy who had a contract with the TSA and got bought out. WFH because of Covid, but his "office" can be any number of cities where they have an office.

Huh I've never had one that beeped. All of mine will just have a flashing LED or an LED screen that gives you a code to determine the issue.

As others have said, probably best to let the company take care of it for you.
