If I'm at a casino for like a work convention I'll play a couple hands of blackjack.

I don't really make special trips to them now though. I am heavily positive at every casino I've been to though, except Vegas.

Let's be real, nobody expects to be positive in Vegas.

I played a few hands of blackjack and some slots at the MGM at the National Harbor near DC. Got charged $20 for using an ATM, so I will never set foot into another casino.

Yep, worked at one for many years as well. I had to sign a form banning me from gambling because I had inside information while working in finance.

i've gone to vegas twice. Didn't have any expectation to win. The first time i had $300 to lose and I lost $300, mostly on blackjack. The last time i lost maybe $100 in slots and $60 on sports bets.

I have a few times on a riverboat and down in Vegas. Maybe lost a few hundred bucks total overall.

Just not really my thing.

Only a few times. Once on a cruise, once when I was staying in Vegas, and once at a bachelor party. I have shit luck so each time I go in with a set amount I'm willing to gamble with and once it's gone I'm done.

I don't know much about the slots. I worked the tables. If there was any funny business going on it was pretty minimal. The odds for some of the games are just not in the player's favor.

I went to get he Jack casino once in Cleveland about 2 years ago lost $20 on a video slot machine in no time, I didnt know how to play the other games

My games of choice are blackjack and craps.

I work at one. Seen enough to know better. It ruins lives and families. And casinos love problem gamblers. Dont let thode little "got a gambling problem?" Brochires fool you. They only put those out because theyre required to.

welp given I've essentially supported myself and my family with online poker and good live events since 2007 I would say I have many many times yeah, I haven't played the casino games very often though, they're all -EV and generally pretty boring

Hardly ever play slots.

It's never my idea to go because it's not really my thing, but I'll tag along with some friends when they go sometimes. I usually just put some money in a slot machine to take advantage of the free alcohol or watch my friends play more serious games.

So I guess technically yes I gamble somewhat rarely, but I don't consider it that since the amount of money that I lose is about as much as I'd spend on a bar tab, and I'm only playing the cheap slots for the drinks anyway lol.

I liked to play poker at one for a few years. id pretty much play poker for 3 or 4 hours, then take my winnings over to the black jack table and try to double up a few times...worked maybe 50% of the time.

no real desire to do anything else there.

I only took $20 each time since I know casinos are designed to drain idiots and gambling addicts of every cent. It wasn't even fun and I got depressed looking at all those poor hoping to get rich.

Went once, played Blackjack for a few hours because you got free drinks while playing. Entered with $60, had as high as $100 and finished with $0 because I told myself before leaving I'd either double or nothing. Went over to a slot machine and hit $200 on my 3rd or 4th pull. Cashed out and immediately left lmao

I enjoy going to the horse track and all the tracks around here have small casinos attached to them so I'll usually go in after the races.

As long as you go into it with the mindset of "I'm spending x amount on a night out" and make sure you only spend what you intend to spend, it's really no different then anything else you can spend on a night out. Like I typically spend $20 at the track and $20 at the casino, about 6 hours of entertainment on a Saturday night out for $40. I've had people laugh at me for "wasting" my money on gambling, then turn around and spend almost the same amount at a movie theater for a mere 2 hours of their Saturday night.

I'm a surveillance operator. We watch all the cameras around the establishment and call in any weird shit we see or respond to calls about shit going down. Super fun job because casinos attract a very wide array of people and a good chunk are crazy. I'm also dealer trained because we watch a lot of the card games to catch errors or cheating. Lots of fun stories though

I love Craps, and I'm pretty solid at Blackjack as well. The other games are 90% bullshit aside from roulette and poker.

I used to go to a bar(it's gone now, had amazing pizza, me and gfs first date was there ;_;) and the owner and his wife were both Blackjack dealers. Lotsa great stories

How often do you catch someone ACTUALLY cheating and not just doing dumb stuff on the floor, phones etc

It's pretty rare. Honestly in the history of all our reports we have only had like 5 instances across the 7 years of the new system. We've had a bunch of card counters and shit, but very rarely is anyone actually card marking or some shit.

In terms of more exciting shit we get a fair bit of fights, and when we had face shields on the tables during the covid shutdown we had two people punch them and they shattered. Same dealer at the table both times too, dude was pissed.

I played a sort of computerized roulette, but the actual spinny roulette thing was real with a ball and whatnot, just the betting was done on a computer, and I had to put my chips in a receptacle to bet while choosing the numbers (in my case I only put money on red) I wanted to bet on the screen. I was the only one there, no one spun the roulette, it got spun by itself every turn.

I went in there with 5 and won like 100. I used this technique where I'd only bet on red and every time I lost, I'd bet double the previous amount, until I'd win, and then I'd bet the minimum again, every time until I lost again.
Did that a couple of times, realized I was lucky I didn't lose three times in a row and left with 100 bucks. It was nice.

Yeah that's a classic technique

Backfired badly on me once. I think I started with 5 minimum, and kept doubling, betting on black as it hadn't been coming up vs like 4 reds in row and then one black, one red, that type of thing.

Lose the first one. Double to 10, lose the second. Double again, lose the third(all reds) and now the bet is at 40. ALSO lose this one(red). I keep with the strategy, I double again and LOSE to red on 80$ bet. It is now 5 reds in a row. I double again, 160$ bet keeping the strategy, because the odds are just so against a- FUCKING 00 COMES UP. WTF dear christ, at this point the bet is 320$ and black hasn't come up in 6 SPINS. The odds are now like one in a 250,000 or so iirc of it hitting seven in a row... But I don't have 320$ dollars... I bet the max I could which was like 240, and FINALLY black comes up. I put 5$ on black, quietly shitting my pants, and it hits 0.

That was it for me, I fucked off and played video blackjack. Never again, I do not trust the robots lol.
