It makes me sick to my stomach thinking about how China is going to apply (and already applies) increasingly more powerful surveillance and tracking technology. That combined with companies bending over backwards to please China for even a chance to gain a taste of their large population/consumer base makes China dangerously powerful. All dissent is crushed one way or another. What's possible now makes Nineteen Eighty-Four look like a joke by comparison. --- |

It didn't pan out exactly how they wanted, but still. The fall of the USSR was a prime opportunity for cooperation, but instead the west mostly just exploited the weakened state. NATO, for example, should've been dissolved, at the very least as a show of genuine cooperation. Instead they kept the machine going because they need enemies and people to exploit. As for killing the Romanov children, I wouldn't call it justice, but it's obvious that killing their parents and throwing them out of their highly elevated status would only serve to make them thirst for revenge as they grow up. It's unfortunate that it had to come to that, but it's a consequence of long-held misused power. Capitalists are out here killing and using children as slaves (nestle was recently in court defending themselves on this), but you are selective in your outrage because you're a good little consumer. --- |
