Yeah but then you'd have to seriously sit down and do the work to argue that they're more influential than Super Mario Bros. I never said SMB was the only influential game! You can name a bunch of games, but like honestly the only one out of the ones you named that I'd put in the same tier as SMB1 is Dragon Quest (Wizardry and Ultima just do not have the same level of reach)

DDR wouldn't be in the top 100, Guitar Hero wouldn't be in the top 1000

I find MM6 to be a mess because the slide in that game feels really bad compared to 3-5, and the level design is SUPER uneven. Some parts of the levels are great, but then you have parts that are clearly unfinished - walk through Yamato Man's stage again sometime and notice how many times they just forgot to do anything interesting. It's a bit disheartening.

It's probably less that Combatants is "too difficult" and rather that the game is so bad and unfun that the difficulty lies in tolerating it for any period of time. That's not even really a joke; a game's difficulty is mitigated or amplified by the player's willingness to actually stick with the game!

Quibble Race, Part 2

I did manage to get this cherry done at least. The whole thing is really just luck which gets annoying really quickly; you have to just place some max bets and hope for the best. If you're lucky you can get up to 5000 before the final bet and go all-in on a 1:1 to get to the necessary 10000, but in most cases I have to go for a 2:1 or worse in order to have a chance. If you hit the final bet you win but boy I had a rough time getting there consistently. As I played I realized the Quibbles aren't random and knowing all the names helps you know who to bet on, but still, the outcomes are very random. After a couple of narrow close calls I finally had a win.

Lords of Diskonia, Part 8

This game is really wearing me down, man. Like, the game is fun, but this one sort of broke my will so bad that I haven't even played the game for two weeks, lol. I think I finally broke at this one moment where the AI managed to shoot a miner from across the board, bounce it off a rock, and get it perfectly wedged in a gold rock so it could hit it twice and also hit me twice, and it was just like, the most absurdly precise thing possible. It's like playing against Stockfish in chess - it's just going to make the perfect move every time. In this case, it fucks up like 5% of the time, but really the only way to win is to just be strategically more sound, but sometimes you just really bad map gens. Yeah, I don't know if I'm going to get the cherry for this one. It's really hard and really time consuming. I might grind it off stream, I don't even know.

I've been struggling with this game since I only have 14 cherries left at this point. Five of them are too difficult for me to get (Combatants, Star Waspir, Hot Foot, Fist Hell, and Lords of Diskonia), two of them I don't want to do (Valbrace, Rock On Island), and Campanella 3 and Cyber Owls I'm still trying to "unlock" by finishing more cherries. That means I have five feasible cherries left to go for - Campanella 2, Mooncat, Mortol II, Seaside Drive, and Pingolf. Campanella 2 and Seaside Drive should be simple enough, Mooncat and Mortol II are just a matter of playing games that I've not gone back to, and Pingolf should be challenging but I think it's doable and I'd actually enjoy playing it.

Fun fact about Mega Man 10's soundtrack: each of the eight stage themes were written by a different composer from the series! One theme from MM1, MM3, MM4, MM5, MM6, MM7, MM8, and MM&B's composers (MM2's composer is mostly retired though he has since done at least a project or two).

I don't want you to mislead people here btw, MM&B does reuse some enemy graphics but it's a completely new game unrelated to MM8, the two games don't even play similar imo. MM&B is much harder

Mega Man & Bass is pretty good and it really annoys me that it's not on the collection! I basically consider it to be Mega Man 8.5 - it's not really a spinoff. I think an early translation of the game called it Mega Man 9 lol, and I'd honestly say that's accurate

I think that in the NFL (and other team sports) dynasties used to draw fans from all over because there wasn't regional TV coverage of every single team all the time. Now there is, so there isn't as much of a reason to latch onto a team because there is no team that's just on TV more than the others.

I watched Emilia Perez like the day before the whole controversy started and like... yeah the criticism of the movie is all accurate, it's not just the controversy fueling negative opinions. I really hated the movie, I understand if it clicked for someone and everyone's entitled to having a positive opinion of it but gosh I did not like the movie at all
