There are three playable female archetypes in the series. There's the quiet solemn type that is usually passive, a white mage, and/or the romantic lead. Then the stoic badass, and of course the wacky girl. They don't all fit those criteria exactly but you can see which angle they're going for.

Terra is my favorite character in VI. She learns how to love (and I was glad it wasn't romantic love because VI proved with Locke/Celes it didn't know how to write that). The stuff with the orphans was the best part about her, that was her big moment where she took initiative! She found people who made her feel love and wanted to protect them. Pre-character development Terra wouldn't have cared about those kids at all.

Just saying, this was foreshadowed well before most of the plot even happens.

The next Final Fantasy game in the pixel remasters. It's finally great to play a version of FFIII that is closer to the NES original rather than the DS version which has many other problems. Like the other FF pixel remaster lists, this one has you collect all the chests, hidden items, locations, and bestiary entries with many of them being missable. FFIII also adds some trophies related to the job system, with raising a single job to 99 and equipping all summons to a single character. Had a bit of a scare because the Saronia courtyard never triggered its location on my map, but the game actually erased one of my chocobo forest locations on the minimap, which I used to trigger the trophy anyway. Not sure if that's a failsafe or not but it helped that I didn't have to play through half the game again.

I'll probably start the SNES pixel remasters during the summer!

I like FFII more than most people on board 8 but I can't defend this either. Replaying it in the pixel remasters I turned on all of the boosts because the story and characters are still good, especially for a NES game. The gameplay is still garbage

Another PSNProfiles Ultra Rare platinum added to the count (ignore the fact that I played this on and off for over six years). I can understand the rarity after actually doing it, given the mindless grinding and ridiculously large dungeon maps that take hours to traverse through. I actually like dungeon crawling most of the time, but even I was sick of how big the maps got in the end. Some floors just feel pointless as well, especially the floor that is literally just a big rectangular room with a ton of chests, mimics, and stairs upwards (of which most led to a room of nothing at all). Not even really good design there.

The grinding requires all of this:
Level 999 with all five mages (184 million EXP each)
Level 99 with all ten guardians (100 million EXP each)
9,900 battles (or more if you were foolish enough to download the DLC)
30,000 enemy kills (which unlocks some parts needed to complete the item encyclopedia)
Beating the game on Normal, Hard, and Devil (no stacking), each rewarding with you with an item for a postgame dungeon. You also need to beat the game on Hell difficulty, but it doesn't have an item needed, so you can reload a save and change the difficulty.

A lot of the grinding involves stacking as many EXP gems on your characters, using the EXP doubler item, and spawning some of the more lucrative enemies to get EXP. I think I hit 21 million EXP in one battle, but that was somewhat of an outlier compared to the others. All of that said, I finished the EXP and enemy kills well before hitting 9,900 battles so I just went back to the first dungeon and walked in a circle until I had finished.

The only other thing to note is that one of the story dungeons disappears in the postgame. Didn't get all the quests, items, or enemies filled in before finishing it? Well screw you, you missed them and will have to do them on another cycle. My first play through ended up with this problem, but thankfully I got it all done in the second.

Glad it's finally over. It will probably not be a game I revisit anytime soon.
