No doubt, but had the Ukrainians kept them Russia wouldn't be fucking with them right now. I agree that the agreement itself is toothless, but that doesn't change that we signed it. Ukraine's sovereignty likely depends on us to live up to our end of the deal. Failure to at least pretend to live up to it should be frowned upon though. The entire world pretty much knows this country's word is worth fuck all but letting Russia invade Ukraine would essentially seal the deal. It's as if the world learned nothing after Czechoslovakia. Or hell even anything after Russia invaded Chechnya, Georgia, or the chunk of Ukraine they've already annexed. Appeasement of tyrants is a shitty policy.

Russia won't do anything if they think war with NATO is possible. It's a game of chicken. They'll only invade if NATO appears weak and unwilling to defend Ukraine.

I do not understand why I have to explain multiple times a day that Ukraine is not protected by NATO. They aren't a member, they are a partner, which doesn't provide article 5 protections. Russia has nothing to fear from in regards to article 5 protections for Ukraine. Only the US and the UK are bound by the Budapest Memorandum. Not fucking NATO.

No they wouldn't. This is part of the problem. Russia isn't Iraq. If the UK and France send their air forces to bomb the Russian military in Ukraine they are going to get shot down. Russia has a massive amount of anti-air equipment. They have a large and relatively modern air force. They have a massive amount of armor compared the rest of Europe.

Yeah people have gotten spoiled as to what modern warfare should look like honestly. Peer forces fighting each other openly hasn't happened in a long time. Last one I can think of was Iran/Iraq war.

The Budapest memorandum wasn't NATO. It was signed by the US, the UK, Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Ukraine. Belarus, Kazak, and Ukraine signed over their nukes in exchange for guarantees of their territorial sovereignty. The US and the UK are obligated to defend it in the face of Russian aggression.
The US and the UK's word are worth shit though, so don't expect much other than "strong disapproval". There is zero political will in either country for armed conflict even in a treaty obligated situation. Ukraine should have kept it's nukes.

There is a reason Russia picked now to finally make this move. Ukraine isn't in NATO, so unless NATO grants them an emergency membership they aren't protected under article 5. Because of the political situation in the US, combined with being on the losing end of 2 very unpopular and expensive wars, there is absolutely zero political will for another armed conflict. Especially one that doesn't have anything to do with rhe US directly.

This is mostly about testing the waters for moving into all of the other former soviet republics. If you are going to let them take Ukraine, why wouldn't they be allowed to take Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan,and places like that? The ultimate goal being The Baltic states. Who are NATO members, but Putin's government has stated multiple times that they have no right to exist free of Russia.

This is the modern day equivalent of the German occupation of Czechoslovakia. If you let them have it, it will only embolden them. Germany was absolutely not prepared to fight in 1938, and either would have had to back down, and thus their Government would have collapsed, or gone to a war they were guaranteed to lose, had the West shown any spine.

Poaching isn't illegal. No poaching clauses exist in contracts, but without it there is literally nothing a company can do. Also, non-compete and non-poaching agreements shouldn't be legal. Give employees better compensation than your competitors and you won't lose employees.

When I was doing chemo for my lymphoma it was a week on chemo (R-EPOCH regimen) 2 weeks off. Repeat 4 times. After the second round you were supposed to get another PT scan to see if the cancer is responding to the treatment. My insurance refused and informed the oncologist that I had to get a CT scan instead and then if it showed anything then they wpuld authorize a PT scan. He's like "it's not as good for this type of cancer and if it shows anything and he has to get a PT scan then that will be more unnecessary exposure to radiation, this guys on 37, he might not want cancer later in life because of all this radiation". Insurance company basically said tough shit. So fucking stupid.

I enjoy 3 but they made some really awkward gameplay choices. Especially the whole pairing party members for combat thing. I did sort of like the way they did skills. There is however way too much running back and forth across the fucking maps.

Whew Talisker is pricey! That's the bad thing about scotch. Hard for me to justify the price. My wife got me Lagavulin Distillers edition for my birthday a couple years back. Ran us $145 and didn't care for it compared to the standard Lagavulin. It was made in Sherry casks so it had a sweetness to it I wasnt used to.

I'm not sure where you buy your liqour but here in Saint Louis there are a few Total Wine and More stores that carry Talisker Storm which is their small cask batch, no age statement, for 45 bucks or so, which is about 20 less than the Talsiker 10 year. It's pretty similar in flavor profile if you want to try it but not pay the full price.

I haven't drank rum in almost 20 years. When I was around 20 or so a buddy and I got hammered, drinking beer and playing Axis and Allies in his parents basement. We ended up deciding we wanted to do shots of something so we raided his parents pantry and found a bottle of Rum they had picked up on a Caribbean cruise. I can't remember the brand this many years later though. We got even more hammered drinking it, then got hungry and made and ate like 3 bags of super greasy buttery popcorn. The rest of the evening nor the next day went well, and I have not drank rum ever since ;p.

I stick to Scotch, Bourbon, the occasional bit of Tequila (El Padrino usually), and a beer here and there.

Same. Johnnie Walker Double Black is worth a mention though. What's your opinion on non-Islay scotches? I love Islay but have trouble getting into other varieties. I really like Monkey Shoulder but that's about it.

Double black is probably my favorite blended. My favorite Non Islay scotches are Talisker and Oban. Talisker very much has the full flavor of an Islay but with the lightness of a Highland scotch. Give it a shot, you'll likely enjoy it.

I almost made it to the Talisker Distellery when I was in Scotland in 2019 but our train arrived late to Fort William (we got stuck at a station up in the highlands for about 4 hours because another train broke down) so we didn't take the train up to Mallaig the next day with enough time take the ferry over to Isle of Skye where the distellery was.

My 3 personal Islay faves are Lagavulin, Laphroaig, and Ardbeg (in no particular order).
