While in embargos, forcing the press and youtubers to play certain parts of the game while under their control so they couldn't see the actual problems.

Showing trailers right before release that had so much content, which in fact the actual game did NOT have a fraction of what they were promising.

Literally lying to the press that the PS4 and Xbox one versions were totally fine up until release, not letting people know what the situation actually was.

Lying that Keanu Reeves played the game and loved it. He said afterwards he didn't even touch the game.

Just their recent remarks of not having police chases in the game. The guy tried to say its not in Elden Ring either (Probably jokingly?). Except its not hard to input that kind of technology as you can literally have police chases in PS1 games.

Here are some comments I saw on this:

He completely dodged the question, there are NO car chases in CP beyond the main story missions, cops dont even drive their own cars. If you shoot a cop in the head and drive away cops with just spawn on foot you as you drive away, FFS GTA1 had car chases nailed down on the PS1, CP doesnt even have driver AI, which even the LEGO games have

The guy that provided the excuse was also the guy I remember speaking the highest amount of marketing bullshit prior to the game's release

But what I'm referring to is all the broken promises, lies in the interview, controlled embargo with reviewers ect.

They intentionally, or at least their PR and higher ups, lied to everyone and sold a product that wasn't real.

Endwalker had some very tense scenes.

Yup. Literally went from fighting some bad guys and imperials to Cosmic lovecraftian horrors.

A Realm Reborn: Aside from a few void storylines and the World of Darkness, the plot was mainly focused on some big bad guys (Ascians) and fighting back the imperials off Eorzea. (We had the Edda story which started things off).

Heavensward: The Dragonsong war was horrible yes, however it was not as much horror as it was tragic. A few horror themes could be derived from the heretics giving their flesh to transform into dragons. One of the first 'horror' vibes you get was from Void Ark. It was like a ride complete with some pretty scary looking creatures. But still not up there on the terror scale.

Stormblood: This was when we were going more in depth with the absolutely horrendous experiments the Garleans were conducting on people and their effect on societies they subjugated (Social elitism, racism, ect). This in turn reflected the abhorrent acts the Allagans did back in the past. You could probably make numerous body horror stories with some of the creatures (or former people) you encounter here.

Shadowbringers: Here is where it truly gets horrible. The whole concept of Sin Eaters and their effect on Novrandt and its people. How it twists and turns people into pure monstrosities (Tesleen) and the Eulmorians did to their poor (slaves, turning them into monsters or meals for the population). You have Vaulthry and his rule with the Lightwardens. Then you have an introduction to the Nier Raids and story themes which doesnt really need explanation here. Lastly, the Sorrow of Werlyt storyline. One of the worst things in this game. What Valens did to those children included emotional abuse and child abuse, turning them into beings who killed themselves fighting for their own freedoms. And what the bastard did to one of the children (literally fusing him with a weapon while his sister was piloting it trying to save him but ultimately realizing that she is too late, emotionally scarring her).

Endwalker: And here is where it gets to the extreme. Imagine living in a world where Terminus creatures exist. Where if you feel enough anger, pain or sorrow, you could see loved ones turn into lovecraftian horrors in front of your eyes. The creatures in the game looked like it could literally be pulled from dead space or silent hill games. And they instantly turn on you, trying to kill you. What's even worse is that when you die, your soul doesnt even survive. You literally seize to exist.

There is even one scene where a kid gets turned in front of his father, only for the small monstrosity to be crushed by an even bigger one while the kid cries out in pain for his dad. And another one involving a mother and baby being thrown into a river with the mother dying and baby almost turning into a monster because of the stress.

And dont get me started on Meteion. The horror she turned into and what she brought. The planets she showed us and the terrifying tragedies that befell them all.

In the end, FFXIV really delved deep into horrific themes. I could bet you could take so much material from it and people would believe it to be from a horror story.

Maybe someone can beat us!

an inability to get it working in the game before launch and that they eventually gave up on having it.

Like a hundred other promises for the game. It's actually sad.

Bump, just drew my second warrior of light (My FFXIV character) and botched part of it. Decided to start again. I'm planning on getting up in the morning to do shit and fix my sleeping schedule, and I'll probably start drawing while watching Supernatural or something and queuing for FFXIV.

Well I had what they were in spoilers underneath. You both guessed skin, neither of you guessed 2 or 3 (cant blame you) as hard and gummy candy. Last was glass. Hard to tell if I didnt do them well, or if its just hard to guess without context.

Ohhh sorry didnt see that. I can see it now, although it's hard to distinguish glass and hard candy personally lol

It isn't even long, it's just that dumb "find 8 people to help" quest that had 6 other NPCs thrown in that's don't count towards progress. :l Makes those "NPC follows you but can't teleport with you" quests seem tame in comparison.

But yeah, it is odd they'd have waited so long for the Urianger arc conclusion stuff. :/

Some of the quests in Endwalker were absolute tear-jerkers. One of the best expansions ever.

On the topic of Urianger, the part where Moenbrydas mother and father confront him, and you see her mother step up, all of a sudden hug him, I instantly started to tear up big time and I had no idea I would regarding that story thread. It hit me so hard it was unexpected.

Is there any way to play through it without having to do all the tedious MMO shit? I loved what little I played of the story, and I love the world building and lore, but MMO mechanics literally make me feel sick.

Unfortunately its an RPG first but still an MMO. So theres no way around the questing and instances.

It was pretty good, hung a bit around level 84 and 88 due to a certain element of the story that probably didn't need so much detail, but a small hiccup otherwise

Yeah some things were dragged but I personally wanted more and more, I just didn't want it to end.

Granted this story was exceptionally long, they wern't kidding.

Worst expansion

I'd rate it:

Endwalker >> Shadowbringers >>> Heavensward > Stormblood > ARR

I won't spoil anything, If I do I'll put it in a spoiler tag. But yeah, I was literally shouting behind my keyboard at certain scenes. I must have teared up a total of 6-7 times throughout this expansion.

The characterization, story, writing. Everything was so good till the end. The ending fights and scenes gave me some of the biggest hype highs I've ever experienced in a videogame.

I know some people might think its weird to have this much of an emotional connection to a game, but I've been playing this story since 2013 and to see it finally come to an end, wrapping everything up which was a set-up ALL the way back from 2010, was such a grand thing to witness.

I don't know why but I'm having a lot of fun drawing chibi characters. Maybe because they don't require as much effort, which takes a bit of stress off my mind!

Theres a free trial encompassing the whole of the base game and first expansion. Also up to level 60 with no limit to gametime. This has been suspended right now.

They've already explained it in the link and before. Lack of semiconductor shortages and Covid has effected every company, including them. They've also put more money than usual towards securing new servers but all these restrictions has prevented them to do so for the time being.

I remember this, the context was he was referring to a fictional novel one of his students wrote. Still insanely stupid for him to tweet that.

Also I said myself that I haven't agreed with some of his tweets and views as well. He also posts some articles about Palestine or the middle east which are questionable. And he doesn't even elaborate on them.

At least show some context of what you mean whenever you tweet, and if you're dangling articles like that in our faces, it would lead a lot of people to believe your views are one thing, when it could be another.

Also before someone goes on the topic of race, please don't assume I'm caucasian like a number of people have previously whenever we get into these kinds of debates.

Cant speak for others, but he's personally motivated me to spend my time more wisely. Stop doubting myself and actually try new things. Don't stay stagnate or comfortable. Pick up new hobbies and apply yourself to them.

I have three things I'm doing currently, pushing myself to learn more. Part of the reason I even attempted was because of his advice. Granted I wasn't in the worst of situations but I certainly started to make MUCH more use of my time.
