Asking the hard hitting questions here. I have a friend whose father is around but didn't provide him guidance when he was younger, so he's filling the void with other podcasters like Kevin Samuel for male guidance. I really wish he'd go to Jordan Petersen because as it is now, he's getting a warped view on women (this isn't to say that there's a societal crisis in the dating world), reinforced by his previously failed relationship.

Theres nothing wrong with Kevin Samuel either, modern dating is largely transactional and should be approached in a pragmatic way. Take the world for how it is and not how you wish it was.

I dunno, I think dating has never been more romantic. People don't stay together anymore just because they don't want to hurt the kids.

He's a way more complicated figure than most of CE would be willing to admit. He does do some good things and other things I simply won't defend. There are far worse talking heads out there is all I will say.

My issue is how he handwaves or condones cheating. Yes, we know it happens. Yes, we know with highly successful persons, chances are the guy might have a mistress. But you don't condone these things, as monogamy is what makes civilization work, else we'd devolve back to harems (which is partially what's going on right now). So now my friend is convinced as soon as he hits $100K in salary, he can do whatever he wants and the next girl he gets needs to STFU or GTFO.

On top of that, 95% of the girls who come onto his show, my friend wouldn't be interested in anyway so I don't know why he's trying to make himself more appealing to them.

Ive seen him described as a stupid persons idea of a smart person and yeah, that sounds about right.

I don't remember all the details because it was like 4 years ago (around this time of year too -- January I believe), but it was framed as something like "This University of Toronto Professor Says Bill C-16 Is Dangerous." it was a live video of him with... I think he was on a stage with a microphone, though I might be remembering incorrectly. and he was saying things like "they're forcing us to use their language" in reference to pronoun use (which wasn't even mentioned in the bill in the first place)

the first time i ever heard of him was when he was arguing that women shouldnt work because they wear lipstick designed to attract men which forces men to sexually harass them so they should quit to stop distracting men.

This isn't the site to have a discussion on this, but I understand a lot of people would not have the necessary background information to understand what Petersen is talking about here. Contraception is one of critical component that allows the current dating market in the Western world to exist as it is.

I never pretended anything dude. On the contrary, I see the good he does but I've also seen some videos that make me question his beliefs, so chill.

Cant speak for others, but he's personally motivated me to spend my time more wisely. Stop doubting myself and actually try new things. Don't stay stagnate or comfortable. Pick up new hobbies and apply yourself to them.

I have three things I'm doing currently, pushing myself to learn more. Part of the reason I even attempted was because of his advice. Granted I wasn't in the worst of situations but I certainly started to make MUCH more use of my time.

this speaks more volumes about society and your environmental influences, since thats all extremely common knowledge and something pretty much basic after-school PSAs covered, along with every other medium.

Im happy for you dont get me wrong but its concerning and sad you were raise in an environment where those were foreign concepts to you.

How does he do that? Genuinely curious as I've not heard of this before.

I personally didn't have problem. I have a law degree, was working in a lawfirm but found it unfulfilling. I was just wasting free time at home.

I remember this, the context was he was referring to a fictional novel one of his students wrote. Still insanely stupid for him to tweet that.

Also I said myself that I haven't agreed with some of his tweets and views as well. He also posts some articles about Palestine or the middle east which are questionable. And he doesn't even elaborate on them.

At least show some context of what you mean whenever you tweet, and if you're dangling articles like that in our faces, it would lead a lot of people to believe your views are one thing, when it could be another.
