I don't play Battlefield games, but this is the game with that trailer a few months ago with that guy guy ejecting from his fighter and takes out another fighter with a bazooka which everyone and their pet dog was hyping up to be the most super awesome Battlefield game to ever be created, right?

lol it's the standard Battlefield deal - every release there's a lot of glitches and people get upset and then the community settles down and people start having fun with it.

This one does feel like it got the streamlined Ubisoft treatment though. I think 3 and 4 were peak Battlefield as far as innovation with the series goes and particularly the Battlelog system. After that they started pushing players towards standard matchmaking as opposed to server browser navigation, and this game doesn't even have a server browser for the standard game modes :(

Also there's the fact that they made some weird decisions like there's no server or team scoreboards, you can only see some basic stats in game about how you and your squad are doing. There's also currently no VOIP which is particularly bad since it is cross-platform so a lot of the people you are playing with don't have any way to communicate with you lol.

*And* they got rid of server-wide text chat, you can only communicate with your team and squadmates now. I guess with 128 players a server-wide chat would be annoying maybe, but I also want to trash talk a little or congratulate people on certain things and I can't :(

Yeah when you release a new game every year in a genre that hasn't seen anything new or fresh in over 20 years, it's bound to get stale. I mean I literally can't tell the difference between any modern Battlefield screenshots. Same guns, same reticles, same graphical style. Same gameplay.

Shooter fans just get milked every November. I used to play COD like 15 years ago, but I think I caught on to the grift after my 3rd or 4th year.

Battlefield isn't an annual release, it's on a 2-3 year release cycle.

Also I don't know how you can't tell the difference between them, the interfaces are noticeably different (not that the interface in the new game is too outstanding lawl) and they take place in distinctly different time periods >_>

Yeah I've noticed a few times now I seem to get stuck in a loop where I'm just playing the same three maps like you're describing, but there are seven. And some have a nighttime setting, plus there's the random dynamic weather effects which are pretty awesome.

I didn't think I would like it but actually I've been loving it.

3 maps? It has 7 in the regular modes and I think 6 in Portal so far.

And normally I'd complain about the lack of mode variety but actually I think this is fine, you have Conquest, Rush and then a Battle Royale-style squad-based... thing. Keeps the community concentrated and consolidated instead of split up over like 10 different modes.

Ugh why am I defending this.

Music has always been a major part of the Archie universe, but the badly auto-tuned, forced musical numbers Riverdale pumps out are eye-roll inducing.

The show almost reminds me of Glee at times. Horrible dialogue and all.

It is particularly bad when they are performing with microphones but then obviously not using the microphones at all, like when they're on stage lmao. It looks so awkward.

I am still trying to get my definitive edition refunded, just really upset with Rockstar's business practices and lack of communication and respect for paying customers. I don't like acting entitled or getting belligerent over stuff but this is a case where it just doesn't feel right.

And yeah I loved the hell out of those games, also have the PS2 discs still. And GTA2 on Dreamcast. Don't think I still have the disc for GTA1 though.

It's funny you mention sex, since my wife also thought there was a lot of it in the earlier seasons. All the sex has been replaced by musical sequences in Season 5 apparently.

Yeah the first season was solid. Then the stories started becoming more obscure and they lost focus, hard.

Didn't even think about the lack of interaction between characters but that's an interesting point. No one seems to care about each other at all lmao.

Exactly. They did an episode about Hyrum's origin story and I realized I don't care about any of these characters... there has been zero character development at all over the span of the show.

Combined with the fact that it's just the worst sort of anthology collection of shit happening... I am hoping it's the final season but I can't imagine how they would close it.

Last season would have been the best ending point tbh

Well I don't know about this mod specifically but I know there are some out there that are basically trying to create updated versions of classic GTA games, so I could see why the company would want to shut that down.

Though honestly they should just hire the modders, re-release the mods as the Definitive Editions and give them a cut :\

I like how there are a few versions of each map, so sometimes you're playing in the daytime and sometimes it's night and sometimes it's clear and as you're playing a sandstorm rolls in...

On Orbital there's a hurricane that sweeps in and I made the dumb mistake of stepping outside and it launched me immediately as high as the game will let you go, and I was whirling around in and out of the game boundaries, didn't know if I was going to survive or not lmao

I'm like 2/3 of the way through it and there is no discernible plot. Any time they introduce a plot, it's either forgotten or resolved within an episode or two and they forget about it all. Also the writing is somehow even worse now than it was before (like, why do they give a shit about rescuing Hyrum from the bad guys if the whole point is that Hyrum is destroying their town and high school and shit lmao let him rot. Probably the biggest headscratcher i've ever seen in TV history.).

The last season or two were also pretty shit but at least there was some central thing they were writing to that could be resolved somehow.

Nah, they fixed the launcher, but they had to pull it entirely because whoops they left in the uncompiled source code with dev comments and - more importantly - the full music tracks for SA and some missing songs for VC. It turns out the songs were still in the code, just scripted not to play.

Which is, funnily enough, the exact same thing that got them in trouble when SA first came out.

When it works it is actually pretty fun. Enemy team kept abandoning their vehicles on our side so I'd hop in the gunner seat and just mow people down.

Doesn't seem like there's a lot to unlock though. Like two or three weapons per weapon type.

I don't mind big cities, but NYC is just... too much. Maybe living there is different, but visiting it can be a pain in the ass. You have to take transportation in because if you drive you're gonna get slammed by like 5 different toll roads and bridges. The people are just pushy, it's just... meh.

Been in playing GTA 3 so far. Just as fun as I remember but better looking.

Only issue is the few dips here and there which is more side of optimization which could be fixed in an update.

Already deleted the ps2-ps4 versions off my external. If you have those, keep playing them. No one is forcing you or forced me to buy it.

I was also enjoying GTA3 yesterday.

And then the game launcher said I was offline and I tried restarting it and it wouldn't let me reconnect and so I can't play.

It's been offline for almost a full day apparently and they removed the PC version from the store, and there's zero word on Twitter or anywhere else that would indicate they are aware of this.

Just really shitty PR., They know better and they have the money to pay someone to say "Hey sorry the system is down".

Yeah of all the launchers I've used, it's probably the worst (I have no experience with EGS though).
