I actually found Dracula boring beyond the coffin blood shower. Young Frankenstein, though, that's a shame.

FFXIV raiding is basically "trials, but harder." Savage prog/farming is roughly equal to the time commitment you'd throw on a WoW raid a few weeks in when everyone's on farm.

If something ingame both provided and logged recipes, or you could infer from the missing spots on the log some experiments, I'd be okay with it unless 100% completion was a requirement.

Remember you can always spend bicolor gems in the ShB zones instead, I decked my house out with some of the Amaurot lamps/Lakeland flowerbed/Rak'tika planters.

Plus if you level them to 3 you can get La-Hee on Orchestrion to sell

I do like the Bard gear, but I generally leave the pants, gloves, and boots undyed. Metal yellow dye on hat and jacket gives big killer bee energy.

I dunno, my Scholar queues are near instant.

Which is... interesting. I'm so used to being able to bring people back an inch from death as WHM that I still struggle if I've blown all my cooldowns and Aetherflow.

Recitation Excog can only get me so far.

ninkendo closely mirrors my situation, except my dad cheated on my mom with my now-stepmom and they divorced when I was 3.

I was basically raised fatherless, since although my mom remarried, it wasnt until I was 12 and my stepdad was a dick to me until I went to college.

5 is my favorite, but XIV's a single player story with an MMO community. I'd still recommend it, once the servers reopen to newbies, but it is a time commitment for the worst part of the game (the start)

Doma Castle is basically my second favorite Stormblood dungeon, because it's Yanxia music, but funky.

Bumping for visibility, because although I wanna sign up, I start traveling on the 22nd and would inadvertently screw over my recipient. :(

SAME. Odd considering most skipped the winter coat in Garlemald, but then so did your NPC party the second Tower of Babil was about to be breached.

lol man I basically had the worst experience possible with the level 83 duty.

For some reason it worked different in this duty than it does in trials. My WASD keys still worked after a moment of panic, so I used those.

So, fellow XIV-goers, what have we learned?

- trial fights are overdone
- dungeon music underrepresented
- open world music even less so, but the melancholy pianos seldom vote well, so nighttime themes are mostly out.

I bring this up because of some of the Endwalker offerings, and I'm definitely considering some tunes for later contests/nominations- XIV musical spoilers for zones and events.

I said it in Discord but I very much want a mashup of that and City Ruins (Rays of Light) from NieR:Automata.

89/90 MSQ: perhaps it's the sleep deprivation but I ugly-cried a bit when the music hit the vocal layer. I mean, yeah, they've done this "deprive you of party" thing to the point where I saw it coming a mile away, but then you do the slow walk to a theme that started as ambient dreadful droning and became... that.

I'm no trained musician but it was just gorgeous.

I'll grant their reaction was probably the exception rather than the norm, but it has made me leery.

I thought the Ivalice story was just incredibly word-salad that gave you an excuse to dress up like Tactics classes and call this incarnation of Ramza a useless nerd.

I find myself remarkably open to gender politics (a good FtM-friend-and-coworker once complimented me on just how open-minded I was for flat out asking him things, though it was a bit undermined by the "at your age" comment.);

I am unfortunately going to follow this up with: neopronouns irk me on a fundamental level. I guess I'm more just waiting for someone to go off the rails because someone accidentally, not maliciously, misgenders, and suddenly we have a situation not unlike someone I know (and have since stopped speaking to) who "attention whore" was a kind descriptor, who was initially MtF but then amended to gender-fluid, back to solidly MtF again to "plural" (we/them) and at that point my eyes threatened to roll out of my skull, and is probably the only time I maliciously *did* misgender her. Them. Whatever.

Y'all, I hated feeling confused enough with myself for years being "cis-bis(exual)" to try and feel out someone else's opinions of whom, ultimately, sexually identified as belligerent.

TL:DR neopronouns are suspicious to me, but okay if kept noncombative.

Roulette gives you the shiny materia-givers as a DPS though.

I do wish that I could have the dungeon music override the fifth zone's music, though.

Normal music is a bit too idyllic for me even if natural floating elysian continents are very much my aesthetic. The light DnB that is in the dungeon theme, though, which is a huge reason I love Woe that is Madness... I want it.
