When the QTE came up to mash to regain consciousness, I mashed all of my keys like you're supposed to do for literally every non-Cruise Chaser QTE in the game but instead it opened up my map and a billion other windows. I panicked and wasn't able to close them all so I had to do the entire thing again. Almost failed again on the second try since I was feebly clicking my mouse instead of any keys since I didn't want to repeat that error. Sucks because that was a great idea for a duty and the moment kind of got spoiled by that. :(

Finally getting back to this. Playing what little I can while the queues are still awful because I REALLY want to finish before normal raids launch next week

- never going to get over the scene where you explain the plot of the entire game to the gang and they just start nitpicking the details for not making sense, culminating in Emet declaring the whole thing to be bullshit and storming out. Wonderful stuff. Also love Emet's confession at the very end that he doesn't believe you because he refuses to be a doomer. This does actually add more depth to his character even though the memory wipe stuff has to happen as a plot contrivance.

I forget how explicit they made it in ShB that the WoL is sundered Azem and Im wondering how many people are playing through Elpis without that key piece of context!

All Crafters and Gathers maxed with all gear and equipment HQ crafted across the board.

I have to say that the Eas' nihilism is falling pretty flat with me. I can't really comprehend the "the universe will eventually expand enough to be unable to support life, therefore our whole society decided that life is obviously meaningless" logic train! Otherwise this zone is pretty cool so far. I don't buy our friends sacrifices being permanent at the moment, though I guess in theory they could want a clean slate for the new saga in 6.1...

A lot of people seem to miss the point of the Ea, they aren't nihilistic because of that one thing. It's the fact that they not only discovered the inevitable heat death of the universe, something they were entirely powerless to prevent, but the fact that they learned this not long after successfully discarding their physical bodies and becoming immortal. An achievement that was supposed to ensure that a scholarly race like the Ea could forever preserve their knowledge and accomplishments had succeeded in nothing but making themselves their own jailers to an apocalypse they hadn't foreseen. They'd essentially doomed themselves to be idle bystanders whilst everything they'd ever strove towards was rendered pointless, played out over thousands upon thousands of years. It's no surprise that this burden drove them kind of crazy and led to them trying to regain their mortal status so that they could die normally before this all came to pass.

So actually, I have a bit of trouble understanding that post 87 dungeon MSQ scene. Youre talking about the one where we see Venat summoning/becoming Hydaelen, right? So ok, after the dungeon you and Venat escape with your memories in tact. And she says she cant just tell everyone whats going to happen because. I dont know, Fandaniel might mess things up??? Dont truly get it, but whatever. Shes going to try to help stop whats about to happen with her new knowledge but later on we see that she wasnt able to help at all and basically, everything happened how it did before anyway.

Yep. Closed time loop, just like Alexander's storyline. The reason she felt she had to be clandestine about who she told is because she was afraid of causing a panic that could itself trigger the Final Days early, iirc. I'll need to rewatch those scenes.

Basically, everything in her future/your past led to you coming back to tell her about the Final Days, so she had to make sure everything happened the way it did in your past or else you wouldn't have come back to tell her about what happened. Can't go causing any time paradoxes!

It's this from a logistical standpoint but I don't know WHY they don't outright state it at this point. Her stated reasons in-universe are what Ganon says and are pretty flimsy. Not trusting Fandaniel is one thing but why not Emet or at least Hythlodeus? It creates this weirdly written half-justification instead of her just embracing the loop. And the thing is, with how we know time travel works in this universe she COULD feel free to change the future from that point and create an offshoot timeline (the Exarch's original timeline still exists, after all). That's getting a little too wacky and this is getting a lot too nitpicky though!

Anyways I'm not through the whole game so maybe there's more context I'm missing, but I do have another question about that scene I just thought of

When Venat is walking through the ruins of Amaurot, she passes Emet and Hythlodaeus. But we know that Hythlodaeus was one of the sacrifices to form Zodiark. We talk to him on the moon about it! He couldn't have possibly been around at the time of the Sundering, which she is on her way to do. What's up with that?
