If you like Final Fantasy, World of Final Fantasy is a very good spinoff title that's laden with callbacks. The Switch port looks just as good as the PS4 version, and it's an absolute delight to go through. I don't usually like creature collection games that aren't Pokemon, but this one was fantastic.

Dragon Quest XI is on sale for over 50% off right now, if that's your bag. Haven't played it, but it's a Dragon Quest game y'know.

Cruis'n Blast is a nice arcade racing throwback, I'm planning to get it in a couple weeks myself.

The Telltale Batman game is on sale for $5 right now, next to the first Walking Dead Game they did this is my favorite Telltale game. Excellent Batman story.

Florence is a short indie "experience" sort of game, but it tells a really charming story in a sort of puzzle-box style. You'll finish it in one or two sittings, it's very short, but it's pretty good and it's fairly cheap too.

Abzu is a game from the art director of Journey, you play as a diver exploring the soxean depths. You activate these tide pools at the bottom of the ocean to release different species of fish, and you keep activating these ancient underwater temples and viewing murals and stuff from the civilization that used to live there. Abzu is a feast for the senses, like Journey and Flower before it.

I've spent most of today talking about Tetris Effect, so all I'll say is that it's a masterpiece and you should look into it if you're into Tetris.

I'm asking because I'm going to need a Tetris Effect crew to take down the final boss. There are four difficulty levels where you fight 3 of the zodiacs at a time, and each stage gets harder and harder. The final boss has all of the powers that the previous ones have, and it's on like the hardest difficulty.

This is the sort of final boss where you play feverously for half an hour with a layer of sweat dripping from your brow, only to fuck up once and see the entire run crumbling around you. It's hard as shit, and it's fucking exhilarating.

But I need a dependable Tetris crew to make that happen.

Regardless, what he did caused a lot of pain, and it's to the point that I don't regret lashing out at him this entire time. Dude is dead to me, whether I'm in the right or not. I recently ghosted my old best friend of 7 years over something he did.

I've always tried to be the bigger person, I'm straight with people and I apologize, but this hurt me more than anything that's ever happened before and I found myself making excuses for him in an attempt to be civil, which set me off like a powder keg. He hurt me, so why am I making excuses for him? Why am I trying to make this a clean and amiable break, why am I so desperate to not rock the boat? Fuck him. He can eat shit and die.

So I had a period where I was explicitly and vocally angry with him, and afterwards? Silence. He messages sometimes, I don't even leave him on read. I'm done with him.

To a degree, sure - be an adult and be straight with someone. But sometimes you just want to try and hurt someone, and you want them to be as far removed from your new life as possible. So ghost them. Fuck them, they can eat shit.

Well, so much for not spoiling it, but alright:

You play with two other players against a single AI. The AI has special attacks to trip you up, like shooting beams through the play area to get rid of blocks or restricting hard drops. But as you and the other players clear lines, you fill up a power meter - and when the meter maxes out, all three of the player's screens merge into one single playfield, and you take turns dropping blocks and racking up line clears.

When the mode ends, it tallies up a damage total, and it floods the computer's screen with garbage.

It will be interesting to see what you think of 4 since it sounds like you started with Persona 5. I feel like a majority of the hate Persona 4 got was from the fans that absolutely adored Persona 3 and were mad it wasn't as dark as 3.

I started with 4 when it was new, then went back and played 3. And while I still enjoyed 3, it didn't feel better than 4 to me. Persona 4 was hilarious and I enjoyed changing between drama and comedy.
I actually played Persona 3 Portable back in the day, this was me revisiting the game. But I am a total simp for Persona 5, haha. I think Persona 3 was a watershed moment for this style of game, and Persona 5 was a watershed moment in how huge it got.

I like the whole human robot story beat anyway, as mentioned in the OP. But I'm also a sucker for the "beep boop I am a robot" jokes, which Aigis also excels at.

I do think that by the end of the game, Aigis has essentially become the main character of Persona 3 and it is pretty jarring. She isn't in half of the story, and then the game ratchets her up into the second most important character in the entire game - if not THE most important due to her role in the backstory. And I get how folks might not like the "what does it mean to feel emotions", because it is a bit hackneyed. I want to see more casual stories about robots as people, tbh.

Regardless, I'm a sucker for a character like Aigis.

I think it's just different personality types and priorities. I had a friend who used to buy a lot of alcohol for people around him, and I was really shitty about it at the time - relying on a lot of that to get drunk. To this day, I feel extremely guilty about it, even after years of him being like "it's fine, there's no debt". What make it worse is that for the last three years of our friendship, I began to really resent him, and I only stuck around because I felt indebted to him over shit like that.

I feel shitty, like I was an opportunist who took advantage of him, or who at least owes a lot of money and time to him. That's something I don't think I'm ever really gonna be able to escape. And it made it that much harder to leave when I began hating him, because it's doubly as shitty to get free drinks and then eventually leave them - even years after I stopped being a fuckface and began buying my own drinks. That feeling of debt still remains.

Even if money is no big deal to you, people still feel guilty over money being spent on them and it can strain relationships. Just because everything's all clear with you, the baggage of that spending remains. And that's not everybody, but there are some people who can't escape that feeling, and it impacts their relationships.

So while I've been banging out The Answer, I've been listening to a bunch of P3 critique videos. There's been a couple of really solid retrospectives coming out over the past couple of years, and within the past year there have been a couple of videos calling the game an overrated piece of shit.

The two explicitly negative videos I could see were ratio'd pretty hard, and at least one of them was specifically a troll, saying Atlus fans can't read and shit. Saying that, there was one fairly balanced review that came off as really neckbeardy too - the content is there, but it's very much a question of taste and tolerance.

I did find a game analysis channel that I've been really enjoying, though. So it definitely hasn't all been bad.

The difference between recent P3 content creators is like the difference between a Mister Mekotur, a Mother's Basement and an Austin Eruption. One of them's a fucking asshole, another one is out of touch and not the sort of content I really want to watch, and the third one is a pretty genuine dude who I like watching, respectively.

I thought David Tennant's doctor was the worst for this actually, with Peter Capaldi not having as many. Matt Smith still had a few though. But both Tennant and Smith, while I loved, I got so bored by the end of their speeches. It felt predictable.
In hindsight, Ten did start with the grand megalomaniac speeches. I still liked them because they were snappy and David Tennant could pull them off pretty well, though in recent years I do find myself getting a bit annoyed at them.

The thing about Matt Smith, though, is that I feel like a solid third or quarter of his run is made up of him making some sort of badass boast to threaten the monster of the week - and maybe that's an exaggeration, but that's how it felt while I was watching it.

It happens in the first episode of series 5. It happens in the last episode of series 5. It happens a bunch in A Good Man Goes To War and all that sort of stuff. At one point or another, The Doctor's main schtick became listing off a bunch of grand offscreen achievements to make himself out as a badass - and it had roots in Ten's run, but I found it to be much, much more prominent and significantly more distracting in Eleven's run.

And that doesn't even stack up to him flying into the sun and rebooting the entire universe in his first season. Moffat's Doctor was just... if you were into the absurd power fantasy, fine. But I found the whole gothic fairytale, invincible Doctor vibe to be really jarring and unpleasant after Nine and Ten were so human and - dare I say it - grounded. Even with Ten becoming the Time Lord Victorious and becoming kind of a prick.

Like I'll take "Earth is under my protection" over "Look me up in that grand database of yours - the architect of the fall of X-K-57, defier of the Shadow Proclamation, ultimate enemy of the most feared alien races in the universe! I am the Doctor, and you'll never be able to defeat me!" any day of the week.

Another way of putting this is "is Spider-Man 1 good or great?". Whether you think camp constitutes the lesser or greater statement in that sentence is up to you, but both are intended to be an expression of praise.

Moffat's whole "the Doctor is a God" approach got really corny (in similar ways to Chibnall's "Timeless Child" thing), and 11's major plot involving the Silence and the cracks and stuff really fell off bad towards the end to the point I had lost track of what was going on, but Moffat did have some good stuff every now and again -- mainly in RTD's era, though.

Never seen hate for season 4's finale, though. With everyone coming together to stop Davros? That was great. Superb way to cap off all 4 years of RTD's era.
Oh yeah, there ended up being some crackers in there. Peter Capaldi's introduction episode as Twelve was one of the most ambitious and upsetting things I think Moffat ever did, anything written by Neil Gaiman was a treat, and one reason why I liked series 7 so much is because it has one of the best character episodes of Moffat's run - The Power of Three, going through Amy and Rory's life outside of the Doctor - and The Crimson Horror, which has fantastic performances and actually features the Doctor in some sort of peril for once. Not to mention Nightmare in Silver, but again, that's a Gaiman episode.

And as harsh as I am on Moffat, the 50th anniversary special was fucking excellent. That was the one time I wholly and utterly submitted to Moffat's bullshit - I loved it.

In regards to the series 4 finale, it just felt a bit bloated. It strained under the weight of all the cameos, the shocking twists felt a bit ehh and the Donna moment at the end has gone down as a controversial move. I loved Davros in it, but the finale was just spread a bit too thin for my liking.

Turn Left is legitimately one of the best revival-era episodes of the show, though, and the cliffhanger it ends on was hype as fuck.

I can understand why Rose and the series 4 finale get flak. That was my first era of Doctor Who, so I'm biased in favour of Rose personally, but that series 4 finale honestly does deserve the negative rep it gets.

But to this day, I still like RTD's mediocre episodes to most Moffat episodes. Compare The Idiot Box, an episode about an alien that possesses TVs in the 60's and steals people's faces, or Gridlock, an episode about a century long traffic jam facilitated by cat nuns with giant killer crabs that feed on pollution, to Listen - an episode about the monster under the bed. Something about Moffat just rubbed me the wrong way a lot of the time, like the wanky "I am the Doctor" speeches, but even the mediocre episodes of RTD's era are immensely watchable to me.

To which someone might be tempted to say "But What About Love And Monsters", which is a bad episode for sure, but I would ask - what about Sleep No More, the most creepypasta-adjacent episode of Moffat's tenure? What about Moffat's human Daleks, created as a cheap story cop-out and an excuse for him to say "you never know who's a Dalek", which somehow makes the Daleks better because you never know who's going to grow an eyestalk and laser you to death?

idk, Moffat just shits me off. The 50th anniversary special was good, and I liked series 7 and Vincent and the Doctor. But his seasons just have this inherent punchable, eyerolling quality to it. And it's not just that it hasn't aged well - I never really liked series 5, it was a huge disappointment. Other seasons got slightly better, but outside of series 7, I wouldn't call any of the seasons beyond that outright good.

Give me RTD schlock or give me death. It's stupid, but it's watchable - barring a single particularly bad episode.

LEt me see if I can hunt down the article, since now "John Deere strike" just returns shit about it ending.

EDIT: Here's something, not the quote I remember, but close:
https://time.com/6110014/worker-anger-unions/#:~:text=The%20other%20thing,to%20vote%20on.%E2%80%9D

Well shit, I'll certainly give you props for this. And it lines up with what I've heard, but when I was googling to find sources and back up what I wanted to say, a lot of it was union based. But this article is saying that the union has actually been pretty slow, and it's the grassroots efforts of the workers striking on their own that has spurred them into action.

Geigers frustration with his union is not unique. In recent weeks, as tens of thousands of workers from Colorado to Georgia have gone on strike to demand better pay and work conditions, much of the organizing has been driven by workers themselves. The dynamic has left national and international union leadership scrambling to keep up with their own members decisions to strike, their shifting goals, and how to support the social media-driven communications strategies workers are employing.
There is this grassroots push, says David Madland, senior adviser to the American Worker Project at the Center for American Progress, and leaders have to catch up.

A year and a half into the COVID-19 pandemic, in which most blue-collar workers risked their health and safety to go to work while their white-collar colleagues largely worked from home, some top union brass and union members are at a disconnect. Union leadership is sometimes so focused on state and federal power structures that theyre missing the tectonic shifts among workers on the ground, labor experts and striking workers say.

There is a danger and a concern that some of the heads of unions tend to be DC-focused. [They are] too interested in, What are the debates on reconciliation? Whos working with the administration? Are we invited to the meetings in DC? Yes, theres an important role to play there, argues Faiz Shakir, the founder of advocacy journalism startup More Perfect Union and former Bernie Sanders 2020 campaign manager. But right now, especially at this moment in history, the worker fights are out there around the country.

Another user spoke about how unions get less effective the more centralised the power is, which this article backs up. It's up to the workers to take this sort of action on their own initiative.

I'll revise my opinion on UAW as such - if nothing else, I'm glad they got the memo. But this should absolutely be a wake-up call to any unions playing the political game to get more in touch with workers, and act in a more proactive manner to attend to their interests. I still believe in the good of the union, but a union that doesn't have boots on the ground amidst the people it represents is a shitty union, and they need to do better by their membership.

Which is unfortunate. My understanding is the strike started as a grassroots strike rather than anything UAW instituted, and workers were just as upset with UAW's actions as they were John Deere.
Source?

The issue is that she directly states out loud that was her first time piloting in 2.22

So unless she's been trying to pilot or has something to do with a contact experiment, it just doesn't make sense. She doesn't seem to be a clone either, so that's probably out. It's really hard to give any real reason she can be 15 in 2.22 but be around her current age when gebdo and yui met. Unless something is missing
Ah, okay. Fair enough. It's been a while since I saw 2.22, that's my bad.

Honestly, with Mari, everything is missing. Look at all the gap-filling I did in my fan theory, lol.
