I have as much water, electricity and sewage as I need. The pipes are closed circuits, some houses are getting water and some are getting sewage but none of them are getting both. None of my businesses are getting water/sewage either despite the pipes reaching that far. The pumping stations are powered.

It's happening again. All the pipes are connected, the water and sewage pipes are reaching every household, but some houses are getting backed up and others aren't getting any water.

All the circuits are closed.

...are the blue areas for clean water and for sewage not meant to intersect at all?

White supremacists are salty because people are more secure calling out discrimination and prejudice, and systems are in place to punish prejudice. The response is to say that they, in turn, are being discriminated against and having their civil liberties taken away because they can't get away with the same shit they traditionally have been able to in the past.

My understanding is that it's like "religious freedom" laws that give businesses the freedom to discriminate against different groups. Christians are being discriminated against because they don't want to bake a cake for a gay wedding, so to counteract the discrimination against good, god-fearing people, they in turn get to discriminate against gay people. Like they've been doing for the whole of human history before the advent of anti-discrimination laws.

I had a pipe running down main street, none of the houses were getting water. So I changed to this zipper formation. No water.

I have two water pumping stations tied to the same pipe network.

I'm already on Buttville 4, and I don't want to have to make a Buttville 5. What am I doing wrong?

TopicWho is more annoying? Todd or Mr. Peanut Butter from BoJack Horseman?
MrMallard

Mr. Peanut Butter. I love them both, but I found Todd's arc way more compelling, and by the last episode I was much more endeared to him compared to Mr. Peanut Butter.

Like PB has his ups and downs, like in his relationship with Diane he shows more nuance than his usual buddy-buddy self, but Todd gets much more of an arc as Bojack's closest friend. And by the final episode I feel like he and Bojack had such a dynamic relationship that their ending genuinely tied everything up in a neat little bow, whereas Mr. Peanut Butter is more of the same.

It's like... what does Mr. Peanut Butter go through over the course of the show? It's all great, and I'd argue that the comedy stemming from PB is one of the things about the show that keeps it so fresh alongside the drama of it all, but outside of his exuberant personality all I can really think of is later season stuff with Diane. While his one-notedness is played with, he is ultimately pretty consistent over the entire show, and even up to his final scene his full-on nature is kinda grating and hard to take seriously.

But Todd, for all his goofiness, goes through a lot. The whole video game thing, which is the first step in his rejection of Bojack, the stuff with his friend which drives them apart and leads to his characterisation as asexual, everything that stems from that previous spoiler which is fantastic even when it's completely divorced from the main plotline, becoming arguably the first person to forgive Bojack and come back into his life - leading to the finale, where they share a moment and reflect on the journey they've been on.

For all his flaws, I found Todd to be a much more enriching character than Mr. Peanut Butter. He's annoying and goofy at times, but I think the value of his arc over the course of the show gave him a well-roundedness that made up for his annoying shortcomings at times. Mr. Peanut Butter, for the most part, is... Mr. Peanut Butter. I like him, but what you see is what you get, and what you get is a lot to deal with sometimes.

So when the popular opinion became "Wind Waker is one of the best 3D Zelda games", I think the whole thing about Tingle's brothers and his own island came to light, and the fanbase began to take more of a shine to him - even if it was an appreciation steeped in irony.

Pre-gamergate, Navi was the most hated being in video games. You couldn't find an online video game site without some tryhard fuckfaces making Navi out as the worst thing that ever happened to them. You mention Navi once, and you have like 20 neckbeards tripping over each other to say "oh man, that fucking annoying bitch, can you fucking believe how much she ruins our perfect game"

Post-gamergate, "SJWs" and leftists became the biggest object of gamer ire, and the adoption of far-right vitriol has pretty much poisoned games as a hobby to pursue political ends. Granted, far-right sentiment was growing in the hobby on places like 4chan, but Gamergate is when it went mainstream and gaming really hasn't been the same since. Artsy indie experiences that touch on heavy themes have been able to flourish despite the heavy backlash to them during Gamergate, but there's still a political divide present here that's flared up as recently as 2020 with The Last of Us 2.

When was the last time you saw a gamer genuinely, earnestly bash Navi as a failure of game design or as the worst character ever in the best game ever? When was the last time you saw a Top 10 listicle maintaining that Navi is the worst video game helper character ever, and milking Navi hate to appease humorless gamer chuds whose childhood nostalgia trumps all gaming experience after their adolescence?

I used to hate how engrained it was to bash a stupid helper character from a game that everyone unanimously agreed was the best video game of all time up to that point. But I miss that innocence now with how divided the gaming space has become in the past decade.

I feel the need to say that this topic is slightly tongue in cheek, the loss of innocence angle is genuine but the topic I've presented is inherently kind of ridiculous and I want to maintain that I'm aware of that. I hope you can see the humor in this topic as well, as well as a little bit of resonance - but not enough to turn this into A Big Deal, y'know.

The song in that game is called like Kids will be Skeletons. Really ambient, spacy song.

Is there a jumping on point that's good for that kind of listener, or is Mogwai the sort of indie darling band where you start at the start and you love it all, god fuck it

I ask because Mogwai was a go-to indie reference in the early days of Questionable Content, and I'm worried that approaching the band in this way might be seen as a faux pas, as is the indie tradition. Am I being a dipshit normie is what I'm asking, I guess.

Either way - from that one song, what do you think would be a decent approach to getting into Mogwai?

I've had this huge obsession with The Ship Song by Nick Cave for a month or two now, and I hit that critical point where I began to look up covers and live versions and stuff. So I'm just kinda doing my thing - and I have a thought. What if Colin Hay did a version of it? My thought was that they're both Australian music legends, so maybe there's some overlap.

So I looked up "Colin Hay ship song" and I got this:

https://youtu.be/PvukKx68_yM
It's not the version of the song I heard to begin with, but I really like the preamble he has at the start there.

From there, I've mostly middled around his bigger solo hits. But the thing is that all of his big songs have dozens of live recordings, and they usually start with this funny anecdote or preamble leading into the song.

In the case of that first video I posted, it goes into how he fell from grace. Men at Work collapsed, he lost everything, and from there he basically started again as a solo artist.

My favorite video of his so far just got deleted from YouTube. It was a version of Land Down Under he sang in 2020 - I don't like Man Down Under, because it's one of those incessant culturally Aussie songs that gets driven into you at a young age and I hate listening to it - but listening to Colin Hay play it in 2020, and hearing him hit the same notes? That's incredible.

This is a good version, but the preamble is really long. There's this long stint where he does this Ed Sullivan impression that slows the whole affair down - skip to 4:40 for the song itself, and if the first verse doesn't impress, I recommend waiting for the second chorus.

https://youtu.be/XpdUTtt-npI
It's just a really nice, wholesome time listening to Colin Hay. He seems like a really cool guy, really down to earth. His solo stuff isn't exactly as groundbreaking as the Men at Work songs, but I like them.

This last one has my favorite preamble, and I really enjoy how goofy and offbeat it is.

Jesus. Considering that there are people on this board trying to disprove China's re-education camps and ongoing genocide of the Uighur population, I think it's pretty fucked up that we're gonna start calling other users genocide lovers for video game choices that are meant to be weighty and subjective in the way that Lath approached it.

I 100% disagree with his approach in that game - I think it's better to let the Rachni live in peace, and to exterminate the last of a species is a profoundly fucked up thing to do regardless of perceived morality - and if I find out that he does have unsavoury opinions regarding real world examples of genocide, then I might see him as someone who endorses genocide and appropriately dislike him for it. Until then, that was a cheap trick to defame another user and it was a low fucking blow.

I understand the position you're coming at this from, and you're free to pursue your own enjoyment of an artist based on their work. All I'm saying is that for other people, the shadow of his crimes are going to muddy the legacy of his work.

Go ahead and take the character at face value, but some people are going to look at Bill Cosby and see the face of a man who drugged and raped multiple women at the same time he played a kind, old-fashioned, bumbling dad on TV to a crowd of millions.

In my own media circles, I'm in the midst of a crisis regarding the webcomic cyelatm, or Close Your Eyes, Look At The Mountains.

The creator is making comics again, but at the start of the year she was accused of abusing a woman she was in a relationship with financially, emotionally and sexually. Since then, the creator has made several posts trying to clear her name, and as someone who's been following for a couple of years I want to believe her - but I'm afraid that my long-term proximity to this creator has made bias a valid concern in how I approach this.

I don't know the accuser very well - she did move in with the accused partway through 2020, she did work on comics, but all I ever saw was what the accused brought up about her own personal life on the blog. Since then, all I've seen was the initial accusation, and I can't find her online anywhere to get a feel for her and hash all of this out for myself.

The reason this means so much to me is because I'm having a really tough time at the moment - I'm still disillusioned regarding Vinesauce, and I'm waiting for the matter to be cleared up one way or the other (which it may never be), and I'm also going through some trouble with my friends which has resulted in me isolating from people I miss being around. cyelatm was this goofy, occasionally profound webcomic that made me happy - I loved the rough sketchy style of it all. And I could really use some of that in my life again to cope with the alienation and isolation I'm feeling right now.

The issue is that despite wanting to believe the creator's claims of innocence, and finding that her explanation fits in well with what I remember from all that time following her blog... the colossal shitshow this year has been for me has taken a toll on me, and I don't trust myself enough to make coherent sense out if what she's saying. I'm worried I might be being led astray by someone who - wholly or partially - was involved in severe domestic abuse. I just don't know.

So despite the initial headstart I jumped to in this topic, my genuine answer is cyelatm. I want the comic to come back into favor, under the provision that the creator is proven to have been a victim of libel, rather than having done the awful things she's been accused of. I need that to be the case, and I need something dumb and cheery and occasionally really insightful and melancholic to help me get through my own struggles.

Are we defining cancelled as "the result of being a bad person"? Because people are cancelled for shitty reasons, and we later renege on the cancellation because we realise the truth of the situation. He was cancelled. People reneged later on, but there was a solid couple of years where people characterised Johnny Depp as a wife beater. He was cancelled for that length of time, and his career has taken a serious blow from that.

Her memory is being fucked up because she broke into a Federal building with the goal of confronting sitting members of the Senate. She allied herself with a group of people who showed up with guns, flex ties and a noose, who killed a man breaking into a federal building.

Is that all she is? No. Her family have a more robust picture of who she was over the course of their lifetimes and that's a valid way to view her.

However, her actions on the day she died fly in the face of any decent citizen of a democratic country. She died trying to subvert democracy violently. And that's the context that a majority of people will view her under. And I don't blame them.

Her family is free to mourn, and it's beyond understandable that they would view her reputation in a negative light. But that's a reality they've got to live with. That's a reality they have to reconcile with the woman they know.

Like, if someone starts sending hate mail to the family, that's one thing - that's fucked up, their family member is already dead and you shouldn't harass a family by calling their dead family member a traitorous pile of shit. But by the same measure, no-one should be expected to forget what she died representing.

Fuck'em.

Funds that came directly from his success as an indie developer, mind you.

And then there's being a Trump supporter, the guy who banned transgender soldiers and whose cabinet has set in motion "religious freedom" bills that amount to being allowed to discriminate against people for their sexuality or gender identity.

Oh yeah, the Republicans love trans women like Caitlyn Jenner - the woman who wants to fist the legal system so that trans youth will have an even tougher time seeking resources to transition. There are trans republicans, sure - the trans community isn't a monolith. But let's be real, the people Cawthorne is directly supporting with the money from his games are free and willing participants in a party who are doing everything they can to strip trans protections and make it harder for them to get support. Most trans people don't engage with people like Caitlyn Jenner in good faith, because she makes it harder to be a trans person with the people and policies she supports.

But rather than pay a bunch of lip service to a random deflection, let's look at who he's actually donating to - thousands of dollars going to the lowest shitstains on Trump's ladder. $5,000 to the man who shut down the government multiple times because he refused to pass any legislation that didn't allocate billions of dollars for Trump's wall. Nearly a thousand dollars who started a bunch of qanon-level dogshit about an FBI plot against Donald Trump, who proceeded to waste taxpayer money chasing that boogeyman as a way of deflecting blame from Trump.

Those payments exist, and people are right to find his support of these figures upsetting as those figures relate to their lives. The creator of their favorite video game series supported a regime that made it harder to be a minority in America, donating to several key figures who ran massive efforts to further the petty delusions and the blatant corruption of the Republican party.

If you want to adopt FNAF as some Republican martyr, some unfairly criticized piece of media that the Regressive Left wants to silence for no other reason than to destroy an innocent man's life, that's your business. But the reason this is such a big deal to his fans is because the people he supports politically clashes with the good that his fanbase tried to put out into the world.

Cool, you don't like the touhou dev - you're entitled to dislike him and his games for personal or political reasons, the same way people are free to dislike Scott Cawthorne for personal or political reasons. All that your touhou point says is that you're okay with doing it in the other direction, but not when a Trump supporting member of the religious right is taken to task for his own political engagement.

So here's an idea. Accept that people find Scott's political engagement just as distasteful and unworthy of support as you seem to think the touhou dev's political engagement is. Accept that people are just as entitled to act against what he stands for as you are to act out against the supposed far left bias of the touhou dev. Because you're free to criticize that dev and disengage from his material, the same way that people are free to criticize and disengage from Scott Cawthorne.

Does that barrel of lube still go on sale
this made me think of the episode of Bojack Horseman where two asexual characters go to one of their parents' house for dinner, and they're sex-positive to the point of expecting them to consummate in the family bed and inherit a great oak barrel of the family lube.

I hate them because singers always win.

Singers had American Idol, X Factor and The Voice. When I tune in to a show about a variety of talents, I want to see more than just the same basic white girl ukelele singer going "wse men sa, only fls raush in"

Like Christ, "[X]'s Got Talent" can be a freakshow. Let it be a fucking freak show.

Is she overcorrected though? Her design has changed over the years, including the recent boom of clips from The Looney Tunes Show that show more of a ditzy bizarre-brained side of her, which similarly has a design that isn't overly sexual. Lola Bunny hasn't been over the top fanservice for years.

If anything, her Space Jam appearance is the outlier in her depiction within the Looney Tunes franchise.

Alternatively, they haven't made a good standalone game since 64 and they keep releasing versions of it on all their shit. The last time they tried to make a brand new Star Fox, it sucked.

VioletMassacre with his trolling about age of consent and his self-admitted backstory of meeting his wife on a chatroom when she was 14 and he was 19.

You'd think someone claiming that, who then goes on to downplay ephebophilia with a bunch of false equivalencies, would have been moderated more severely for the sort of shit he's saying. Maybe if more users marked him instead of enabling him for hundreds of posts.

If those prices ensure that the developers get adequate compensation, sure. But the issue with the pricing model is that it's all going to the top.

The people who actually make the games are working in crunch conditions for years at a time in the worst possible cases, companies pull bullshit like Metacritic number bonuses (i.e. Obsidian's $100,000 bonus for an 85 metascore which they missed out on by one point) instead of paying reasonable wages to their devs, and the entire industry runs on the back of independent contractors who are usually segregated from the "real" employees and who don't have the same benefits, job security or pay as the rest of the company. When a game launches, all of those contractors get laid off and they don't get any of the game's profits.

With the amount of blood, sweat and tears that goes into each and every AAA game, I don't have a big gripe with more expensive games - with the caveat that the people who actually developed the game get to work in humane conditions, get fairly compensated for the hours they work and share in the profits of their hard work. But with the way the AAA game system is built on the back of cheap outsourced labor brute-forcing game development for unreasonable lengths of time per week, only to get laid off until they get their next contracting gig, that's just not feasible.

As it stands, raising game prices is a load of horseshit because A) game sales are the highest they've ever been, bringing in billions of dollars worldwide, meaning that any price hike is only a sweetener for publishers during what can be described as a video game boom, B) individual games themselves are making the most money they ever have through DLC and microtransactions and C) those profits aren't going to the people who make these games possible, meaning that the extra cash you're paying for every new game isn't going to them either - it's ballooning the already extravagant profits of the publishers and paying for hundred-million dollar bonuses.

See this article about Activision's CEO getting a $200 million bonus while the company lays off 190 employees:

https://www.ign.com/articles/activision-blizzard-has-reportedly-laid-off-nearly-190-employees

We can intuit that some companies might be more ethical than others, but Activision-Blizzard? EA? 2K? They're so monolithic that they'll literally throw entire teams of developers at games like Call of Duty and Battlefield to get them ready for release on top of hiring independent contractors for QA. A sheer majority of those employees will not reap the benefits of bonuses, holiday time or overtime. And all the money those games make go to the board of directors, and then the primary studio, and then fuck knows where if the paper trail doesn't just end there.

So given that the money is being distributed fairly and the people making these games are being appropriately compensated for the effort they put into their games? I agree with the sentiment in the OP, as much as you might have intended it as a dumb troll to the sorts of people who get buttblasted over the topic of video game prices. The issue is that the whole fucking industry is rotten to the core, and raising prices without addressing the sickening amount of profit accumulation at the top of the food chain - all at the expense of the actual game developers - means that price rises are effectively just you throwing more of your money down the drain.

Yeah but I don't rub my sticks, I just push.
When you push up on the stick, the sensation will rub up on your nipple. When you let go of the stick, it rubs downwards back to the centre of your areola. Push left, it rubs left, and when you let go of the stick, it rubs back the way it came.

That's how the nipple connection works with this controller. It rubs the entire length of the push that you use on the sticks, from the centre out to the edges of the controller.
