If you're talking social justice types, people who are concerned with civil rights and the welfare of marginalised groups? The type of people who usually get painted with "far left" in your average online political pissing match? Not at all. Even before the Uighur story broke, China had a bad rap for jailing political dissidents, conducting cyber attacks and having a totalitarian shithead government. Reports of organ harvesting and disappearing prisoners have been around for at least a decade now. Any reasonable leftist can see how fucked up and shitty the CCP is - as well as pretty much any other nation, but for the sake of this topic, about the CCP in particular.

But if we take the horseshoe theory of political engagement as fact, you do have splinter groups up around the same end of the scale as TERFs who either believe that China is being misrepresented by racists and a bigoted media, an idea which China themselves push, or that China is a communist utopia and should be commended for thriving as a communist nation - when they're arguably the biggest patron of capitalism.

And that's not to deny that racists use China's shortcomings to justify their bigotry, because they do - when I talk about splinter groups going to bat for the CCP, I'm talking about people who do that in response for journalists who play hardball about re-education camps that we know exist, and the accounts of people who survived those camps, whose concerns are met with blatant falsehoods and accusations of sinophobia by the CCP. Starts out bad, but by the end of the game she proves to be the best party member. She's cool and measured, and the stunt she pulls with the USB stick is one of the most ballsy things that the cast does in the real world.

She's the structure of the team - she's the backbone of the Phantom Thieves. So yeah, I think she's a good character.

A high-key piece of shit is such a monumental fuckwad that anyone with a functioning brain can tell that they suck, and nobody likes them.

A low-key piece of shit is someone who comes across as friendly or affable, but there's always an undercurrent of shittiness that usually only comes up to the surface once you've been friends with them for a while. They'll almost never outright express what makes them shitty, but it's there and it'll probably bother you even if you can never quite place it in the same way as your standard or high-key piece of shit.

I like low-key as a slang term because it indicates nuance. You can just say that someone's a piece of shit, but what if they're pretty decent most of the time and most people like them? That's too strong of a callout. Calling them a low-key piece of shit can at least tell people that they're just kinda shitty in the background, and it gives them room to judge for themselves.

This is probably in response to the mass graves of indigenous children they've been finding in residential schools across the nation. They've unearthed close to one thousand dead children in these schools.

When I first heard about the church burnings I was like "wow that's fucked up". But considering the context, I honestly don't blame people for retaliating like this. Indigenous children were taken from their people, placed in these schools where they were mistreated and forcibly assimilated into the Christian benchmark of white Canada, and we're now discovering that hundreds of children - at least - died at these schools.

A thousand children, separated from their home and their culture, mistreated and left to die before being buried in mass graves and being covered up as if they never existed. Almost certainly more than that. I'd be fucking furious too.

So yeah, fuck the Catholic church and let the churches burn. The atrocities committed against the indigenous people of Canada are undeniably, objectively worse.

It's still not as bad as the Kevin Smith Batman comic "the wandering gyre" where he has Batman admit that in one of his first missions he got scared by his own flashbang and peed himself.

According to Smith, he got in touch with a family member who works with explosives, and he was told that the pressure difference from a big enough blast does affect the bladder. You can be the biggest, toughest man, but a big enough explosion is gonna cause your bladder to spasm and you're probably going to piss yourself.

It's less that Smith wrote a Batman who was so caught off guard by his own weapon that he peed himself, and more that he was in a close enough proximity to an explosion that the shockwave messed with his guts and made him pee himself. That dude loves Batman, and I think he was going for realism to the point of detriment as opposed to going "I'm da batman and I shidded and farded and camed my pants".

If you're not into Super Metroid, keep an eye out for this game called A Robot Named Fight. It's a roguelike metroidvania, heavy on the Metroid influence, and it has the stiffer controls of Super with a few powerups over the course of the run that makes the character feel a lot more slick and fluid as time goes on.

I'm not too hot on Super Metroid's physics either - Zero Mission was my first Metroid game, and arguably my first Metroidvania too. Super Metroid is just a lot more clunky in comparison, it comes with age and innovation.

But having played A Robot Named Fight as much as I have - about a hundred hours, with nearly everything unlocked - I think I can tackle Super Metroid now. I won't know until I try, but I will say that the physics of ARNF have helped me come to terms with the idea of a Samus that's weirdly floaty but weirdly dense at the same time.

I've recommended it to Metroid fans before, and not everyone tends to like it - but it might be worth looking into, especially when it goes on sale.

I've been stressed out, but I got sick of my world flattening project so I decided to start a new world to check out the new Cliffs and Caves update.

I spawned in that Acacia biome and it reminded me of Spyfall from Doctor Who - specifically, O's house in the middle of outback Australia. So I got to work making a classic cattle-station style of house in the vein of the one from Spyfall.

I think I did a pretty good job!





It gives me big Outback Australia vibes. I really like how it turned out.

I'm thinking of adding a birchwood floor, and maybe doing an underground room in the style of a TARDIS.
