Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened to jail people who refuse to be vaccinated against the coronavirus as his country battles one of Asia's worst outbreaks, with more than 1.3 million cases and 23,000 deaths. "You choose, vaccine or I will have you jailed," Duterte said in a televised address on Monday following reports of low turnouts at several vaccination sites in the capital, Manila. Duterte's remarks contradict those of his health officials, who have said that while people are urged to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, it was voluntary. "Don't get me wrong, there is a crisis in this country," Duterte said. "I'm just exasperated by Filipinos not heeding the government."

As of June 20, Philippine authorities had fully vaccinated 2.1 million people, making slow progress toward the government's target to immunize up to 70 million people in the country of 110 million this year. Duterte, who has been criticized for his tough approach to containing the virus, also stood by his decision not to let schools reopen.

https://pagesix.com/2021/06/22/billie-eilish-apologizes-for-using-anti-asian-slur/

Billie Eilish is appalled and embarrassed for using a racial slur in a resurfaced video years ago. The Bad Guy singer penned her mea culpa on her Instagram Story on Monday after the edited compilation video, in which she appears to say an offensive term featured in Tyler the Creators 2011 song Fish, gained traction on the internet. I love you guys, and many of you have been asking me to address this, and this is something that I WANT to address because Im being labeled something that I am not, Eilish began her lengthy note. Eilish explained that theres a video edit of her going around from when she was 13 or 14 in which she mouthed a word from a song that at the time i didnt know was a derogatory term used against members of the Asian community.

I am appalled and embarrassed and want to barf that I ever mouthed along to that word, Eilish, 19, continued. This song was the only time Id ever heard that word as it was never used around me by anyone in my family. Regardless of my ignorance and age at the time, nothing excuses the fact is that it was hurtful. And for that I am sorry. Eilish also explained that the other video in the edited clip was just her using a silly gibberish made up voice, which many interpreted as a fake accent intended to mock Asian people. Something I started doing as a kid and have done my whole life when talking to my pets, friends, and family, she explained. It is absolute gibberish and just me goofing around, and is in NO way an imitation of anyone or any language, accent, or culture in the SLIGHTEST. The Lovely singer said the rumors about her being a racist are breaking her heart. I not only believe in, but have always worked hard to use my platform to fight for inclusion, kindness, tolerance, equity and equality, Eilish wrapped up her apology. We all need to continue having conversations, listening and learning. I hear you and I love you. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Eilishs apology comes just days after her boyfriend, Matthew Tyler Vorce, apologized for his old, racist social media posts. Eilish didnt reference Vorces apology in her missive.

Topic68 dogs headed to slaughterhouses rescued from China's dog meat festival

https://www.scmp.com/news/people-culture/social-welfare/article/3138158/rescue-68-dogs-headed-slaughterhouse-spotlights

Chinese animal activists in a southern Chinese city intercepted a truck last week filled with 68 dogs crammed into rusty wired cages headed for a slaughterhouse, likely to be eaten during the notorious dog meat festival. According to the Humane Society International (HSI), the dogs were intercepted outside the city of Yulin, in the Guangxi autonomous region. Many of them were in poor health, and several of them offered their paws to the activists, a behaviour that suggested the animals were stolen pets. A Guangxi animal welfare activist who wished to stay anonymous said they had hoped the authorities would confiscate the dogs as they arrived in Yulin, but decided to save the dogs themselves when there was no action. The Yulin authorities have a responsibility to protect public health who knows what diseases [these dogs] could carry that could end up in the food market, the activist said. The dogs were moved to a temporary facility to rest, recover and receive veterinary care before workers transfer them to a shelter supported by HSI.

Peter Li, a China policy specialist for HSI, said the 68 dogs are now safe, but thousands of other dogs in Yulin, and millions across China, would not be so lucky. Through dog theft, illegal trans-provincial transport and inhumane slaughter, the trade not only subjects animals to suffering but also risks public health with the potential for the spread of rabies and other diseases. These are compelling reasons for the Chinese authorities to end this trade once and for all, he said. Li said dog traders organised the Yulin festival more than a decade ago to attract tourists, but it never became an official event. In its heyday, it was pitched as a cultural gathering around the solstice during which locals happened to eat dog meat as part of their tradition. The Guangxi provincial government denied any role in organising the festival and called it a gathering of the public during the summer solstice. The underground nature of the festival, and increasing international scrutiny, means the schedule is loose, but it typically lasts for around 10 days starting around the solstice, which was on June 21 this year. Domestic and international pressure to ban the culture of eating dog meat has tempered the event in recent years. Still, an estimated 30 million dogs a year are killed across Asia for their meat, and some 10-20 million of those deaths are in China, according to the HSI.

https://www.polygon.com/22543478/twitch-amouranth-indiefoxx-yoga-asmr-stream-hot-tub-meta-ban

Late Friday evening, Twitch banned content creators Kaitlyn Amouranth Siragusa and Jenelle Indiefoxx Dagres, two major streamers on the platform. The ban is another example of Twitchs ongoing process to moderate what it deems as sexually suggestive content. Siragusa and Dagres had roughly 3.15 million and 934,610 followers on the platform respectively, per Streamscharts. Both channels are still down at time the time of press. Siragusa told Polygon that Twitch told her the reason behind the ban was sexual content. Prior to the ban, the streamer did an ASMR yoga stream during which she held various yoga poses and simulated the sound of having your ear licked using a microphone. I think I will have to be more careful the atmosphere around moderation seems to be to let things fly until they are impossible to ignore, Siragusa told Polygon over email. She also emphasized that she was not the first person to do an ASMR yoga stream.

The ban follows the ongoing push and pull between Twitch and its creators, as the company attempts to define and moderate what it sees as sexually suggestive content. Earlier this year, the hot tub meta a kind of content that involves people streaming in a hot tub, usually wearing swimsuits prompted Twitch to create a new category for the streams to address complaints from viewers and advertisers.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/billybambrough/2021/06/20/coinbase-cofounder-issues-serious-crypto-price-warning-as-bitcoin--death-cross-fear-spreads/

Bitcoin and cryptocurrency prices have struggled this week with the crypto market's combined value slipping under $1.5 trilliondown from $2.5 trillion in May. The bitcoin price, after getting an unexpected boost from Tesla billionaire Elon Musk last weekend, has resumed its decline over the last few days, falling back toward $30,000 per bitcoin. Now, as bitcoin charts show the price 50-day moving average has fallen below the 200-day moving averagea pattern known as the "death cross"Coinbase cofounder Fred Ehrsam has warned "most" cryptocurrencies and crypto-assets "won't work" and "90% of NFTs" will have "little to no value in three to five years." "People are going to try all sorts of things," Ehrsam, who has gone on to found the blockchain investment firm Paradigm since leaving Coinbase in 2017, told Bloomberg this week, warning many of those smaller cryptocurrencies won't survive. "There'll be millions and millions of cryptocurrencies and crypto-assets, just like there were millions and millions of websites. Most of them won't work."

"I'd go so far as to say that 90% of NFTs produced, they probably will have little to no value in three to five years," said Ehrsam, comparing the recent NFT craze to "early internet companies in the late '90s" when many Silicon Valley startups suddenly emerged with eye-popping valuations only to disappear entirely in the following months and years.

https://www.tmz.com/2021/06/21/laurel-hubbard-new-zealand-weightlifter-first-transgender-athlete-tokyo-olympic-games/

For the very first time, a transgender athlete will compete in the summer Olympics ... and shocker, there's already controversy. 43-year-old Laurel Hubbard -- who transitioned from male to female in 2013 -- has been selected to the New Zealand women's weightlifting team to compete in the women's 87-kilogram division. The issue?? Hubbard competed in men's weightlifting competitions before she transitioned -- and some critics are already blasting the situation as unfair to other athletes. But, the International Olympic Committee has specific guidelines for transgender athletes to compete -- testosterone levels must be below a certain level -- and Hubbard has met the criteria since 2015. In other words, she's good to go!!

The CEO of the New Zealand Olympic Committee, Kereyn Smith, issued a statement Monday supporting Hubbard. "We acknowledge that gender identity in sport is a highly sensitive and complex issue requiring a balance between human rights and fairness on the field of play," Smith said. "As the New Zealand Team, we have a strong culture of manaaki and inclusion and respect for all. We are committed to supporting all eligible New Zealand athletes and ensuring their mental and physical wellbeing, along with their high-performance needs, while preparing for and competing at the Olympic Games are met. Not everyone feels that way ... back in May, Belgian weightlifter Anna Vanbellinghen reportedly called Hubbard's qualifying situation "unfair" and a "bad joke." Hubbard, though, wasn't letting the disapproval get in the way of her feat Monday ... saying, "I am grateful and humbled by the kindness and support that has been given to me by so many New Zealanders." The Games are set to kick off on July 23.

06/21/21 10:55:50 AM

https://gothamist.com/news/new-yorks-schools-are-still-the-most-segregated-in-the-nation-report

UCLA's Civil Rights Project made headlines back in 2014 when it said New York had the most segregated schools in the nation. Now, researchers there have released a new report that finds the distinction remains. New York City's schools, in particular, are extremely segregated, and many Black students attend schools that are less diverse now than they were when the first report came out. The authors argue the citys intense divisions spur disparities in academic achievement: White and Asian students largely score in the top 20% on state tests, while Black and Latino students largely score in the bottom 20%. Gary Orfield, co-director of the Civil Rights Project, said the outcomes stem from deep inequity between poor communities and wealthier ones, and under-resourced schools versus those that are flush with academic support and enrichment.

New Yorks segregation is not just segregation by race but is double segregation by race and poverty, since the citys black and Latino students are in schools that average about three-fourths poor children, Orfield writes in a foreword. These schools must cope with added burdens, not caused by the schools, deeply affecting childrens lives. Sometimes there is a third dimension of segregation by home language spoken in immigrant households. The authors lay some of the blame for the city intense segregation at the feet of former mayor Michael Bloomberg, citing his emphasis on school choice and selective programs. They describe Mayor Bill de Blasios approach to desegregation as initially lukewarm, but said the district-based diversity plans the administration has supported in recent years are promising, as are pandemic-related changes to admissions for gifted and talented programs, middle schools, and high schools. To combat segregation, the authors recommend either eliminating or expanding specialized and magnet schools, with an emphasis on initiatives to boost diversity within them; using state funds to integrate school districts; and also requiring highly-segregated charter schools that receive federal funding to diversify student populations and faculty.

https://meaww.com/victoria-secret-megan-rapinoe-cancelled-old-tweet-asian-eyes-racism-outrage-asian-hate

Megan Rapinoe has been accused of racism just a day after she became the face of Victoria's Secret after one of her old tweets resurfaced in which she made a racist comment against a team member of Asian descent. In the controversial May 2011 tweet, Rapinoe reportedly told Natasha Kai, a fellow US Women's Soccer team member of Asian descent, "u look Asian with those closed eyes." Rapinoe, a firebrand for equal gender pay and queer rights, received pushback on social media for the resurfaced tweet, which had not been deleted at the time of writing. Rapinoe said in an interview with the New York Times that Victoria's Secret was "patriarchal, sexist, viewing not just what it meant to be sexy but what the clothes were trying to accomplish through a male lens and through what men desired." She added, "And it was very much marketed toward younger women."

The lingerie brand announced plans to work with a new group of women in a bid to reflect diversity and inclusivity on Wednesday, June 23. However, it faced considerable pushback after people dug up the soccer player's tweet. "@VictoriasSecret this is your model? What do you think of this take?" wrote one person. "My husband is Asian. His eyes don't look closed unless he's sleeping," another added. "Preaching about racial stereotyping but comes out with this beauty," a third chimed in. "Does @VictoriasSecret stand for anti-Asian hate???" wrote another. One tweet remarked, "Now lets hope the canceller gets canceled Taste of your own medicine".

Zack Weiner, 26, a City Council candidate running in Manhattan, has found his campaign tied up after video of him enjoying a sadomasochism session found its way onto Twitter. My magnificent domme friend played with Upper West Side city council candidate Zack Weiner and Im the only one who has the footage, reads a tweet from the anonymous account which posted the video last week. The footage flagged to The Post by Weiners own campaign manager shows a gagged Weiner, unable to speak, subjecting himself to various abuses by a leather-bound woman who pours wax on him and clips his nipples with clothespins. The footage was filmed at Parthenon studio in Midtown which is known for its high-quality BDSM dungeons.

In a call with The Post, Weiner confirmed it was him in the video and said the footage was made about 18 months ago with a former girlfriend he met during a Halloween party in 2019. I didnt want anyone to see that, but here we are. I am not ashamed of the private video circulating of me on Twitter. This was a recreational activity that I did with my friend at the time, for fun. Like many young people, I have grown into a world where some of our most private moments have been documented online. Weiner said in a statement. I am a proud BDSMer. I like BDSM activity, Weiner told The Post. He refused to name the woman in the video and said he had no idea how on earth the footage surfaced. Its definitely a violation of trust, he added.

https://nypost.com/2021/06/18/young-nyc-homeless-to-get-1250-each-month-in-city-backed-study/

Young homeless people in the Big Apple will soon be getting $1,250 in no-strings-attached cash each month in a $2.5 million city-backed experiment to see if they use it to get off the streets and try to get jobs. The Trust Youth Initiative partially funded by the city will start with up to 40 homeless people ages 18 to 24, especially Black, Indigenous, Latinx and LGBTQ youth, the organizers said in a release. They will get the monthly cash for up to two years, with no limits on how they spend it and larger up-front payments available to get into housing. A rigorous evaluation will then compare the outcomes and experiences of the target group with others getting smaller stipends and regular homeless services, such as access to shelters, City Hall said.

The projects flexible approach aims to improve young peoples stable housing and well-being by providing the means to afford the types of housing they choose and the supports to make investments in their own goals, education, and career development, City Hall said in a release. The project which will open to significantly more youth in later phases will cost $2.5 million, with $200,000 from the city and another $300,000 raised through the Mayors Fund to Advance New York City, which is chaired by first lady Chirlane McCray. The rest will come from private donations from various trusts and foundations. Hizzoner insisted the cash will help uplift young people and reinforces our commitment to ending youth homelessness once and for all.

The Joe Rogan Experience is Spotifys most popular podcast, so when host Joe Rogan says something, people listen. Even when hes being a fucking moron. Rogan recently invited political commentators Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti onto the show, where they discussed the proposed January 6 commission to investigate the deadly attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The bill was blocked by Republicans in the Senate, but Rogan thinks its really important to keep trying for an official bipartisan examination. I think its really important. And one of the reasons why I think its important is because it highlights the reasons why a guy like Donald Trump is so fucking dangerous, he said. [It] is because a guy can incite a bunch of morons to do something really fucking stupid. Morons appears to be Rogans favorite way to describe anyone with a MAGA flag on their front lawn (its also how John Oliver refers to Rogan). He previously said that he doesnt think that all people who are Trump supporters are morons, but theres a lot of people who are morons that like him because hes talking in this frequency.

Rogan, who endorsed Bernie Sanders in the 2020 primaries (although he did later admit that hed rather vote for Trump over Biden), thinks it will only get worse from here if theres no investigation. Now that hes silenced off of social media, and now that that actually did happen, once it becomes a thing, it could be like mass shootings, right? he said. They didnt exist. Then they did. Now theyre a thing. That could be a thing.

Sharing the apology on his Instagram Story, Vorce, who's Billie Eilish's boyfriend, apologized for the "offensive" words he used on social media in the past. "I want to apologize for the things that I wrote on social media in the past. The language I used was hurtful and irresponsible and I understand how offensive those words are," the 29-year-old wrote. "Whether it was a lyric, a quote o rjust me being dumb, it does not matter." "I am ashamed and deeply sorry that I used them in any context. It is not how I was raised and it is not what I stand for," he continued. "I shouldn't have used this language in the first place and I won't use it again. I am so sorry for the hurt I have caused." He ended, "I take full responsibility and continue to hold myself accountable for my actions."

The apology from Vorce comes after fans of Eilish, 19, found tweets and Facebook posts where he allegedly used offensive language and slurs about Black and gay people. He also allegedly described Adele as "British Miss Piggy" in 2012.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/schools-telling-girls-wear-shorts-24324564

Teachers have been telling pupils to wear shorts under their skirts to protect themselves from upskirting, MPs have heard. Ofsted chief inspector Amanda Spielman said schools needed to find ways to allow girls to feel comfortable playing without "victim blaming". The schools watchdog faced questions from the Commons Education Committee after a damning report found that nearly nine in 10 girls had been sent unwanted explicit pictures or called sexist names. It comes after reports that some schools have asked girls to wear 'modesty shorts' under their dresses to prevent boys taking pictures or looking up their skirts. Tory MP Tom Hunt said: Teachers have been reported as telling girls to wear shorts under their skirts to prevent boys upskirting. "How confident are you that current safeguarding inspection frameworks are appropriate to affect this type of misogyny in schools? Ms Spielman replied: "I think it's really important that we don't slide into a sort of national culture that is essentially victim blaming. "In a primary school I would very much hope that we can find solutions in addressing any cultural problems that could be making girls feel uncomfortable doing normal things that every child should be doing in the playground - doing somersaults or cartwheels or what have you.

A grim report last week revealed that boys treated sharing nudes like a collection game on Whatsapp and Snapchat - with children as young as 10 sending naked pictures. Ofsted found young people often did not report sexual harassment as it had become "normalised", with one Year 12 pupil saying the sharing of explicit pictures was so widespread it was like whack a mole. Ms Spielman told most girls she had spoken to "laugh that off and think it's contemptible". "They would not want to be pulled into safeguarding procedures by reason of being sent a photograph that they think is simply contemptible," she told MPs. She added: "In sexual misconduct of every kind, there is a spectrum from the truly evil and appalling at one extreme, all the way down to things which are essentially clumsy explorations of emerging adolescent sexuality."

A grieving Massachusetts family is trying to bring awareness to the dangers of a social media challenge that caused the death of their eighth-grader this week. Amherst Regional Middle School student Nate Squires was found unresponsive at home Monday after attempting the blackout challenge, his family said on a GoFundMe page. The social media challenge, which has gained popularity on TikTok, encourages children to choke themselves until they lose consciousness. Samantha Thomas, a sister-in-law, said the entire family feels like the rug has been ripped out from under us. All over the world families are losing children to this. We ask that if you cannot donate, please reach out to a child in your life and talk to them about the Blackout Challenge, said Thomas, who organized the GoFundMe.

The blackout challenge has been around for years, daring participants to endure choking to the point of passing out in order to gain a sense of euphoria. In April, a 12-year-old Colorado boy died after participating in the challenge. The dangerous challenge, which has gained popularity on TikTok, also goes by the names pass-out challenge, the game of choking, or speed dreaming.

A man who was released from jail earlier this month was arrested in connection with an "unprovoked" stabbing of a 94-year-old Asian woman in San Francisco, authorities said Wednesday. Daniel Cauich, 35, faces multiple charges, including attempted homicide, elder abuse, committing a felony while on bail or release and probation violation. Investigators said they were still trying to determine if the incident was a hate crime. Officers responded to a report of a stabbing about 10:15 a.m. PT in the 800 block of Post Street, according to San Francisco Police. The victim, identified by NBC Bay Area as Anh Taylor, suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to the hospital, police said. It was unclear how severe her injuries were, but authorities said she is expected to survive.

Cauich has run into trouble with law enforcement multiple times, including five arrests last year on burglary charges and one arrest in 2016 on a homicide charge, according to NBC Bay Area. He was released from jail by a judge earlier this month after he was arrested on May 18, according to court records, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Prosecutors requested that Cauich remain in custody while awaiting trial on burglary charges, but a judge denied the motion, and he was released on June 7, court records showed. The stabbing is the latest in a wave of attacks against Asian Americans across the country. An analysis of hate crime data in late April revealed that the increase in anti-Asian attacks has remained consistent. The research, released by the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino, found that hate crimes surged 169 percent when comparing the first quarter of 2021 to the same time period in 2020 across 15 major cities. A report from the center in March showed that hate crimes increased by nearly 150 percent in major cities last year.

Tc topic title is incorrect and seems to be an outright misinformation. I see nothing saying anything should be banned.

The article is then saying WHO is "suggesting" it be banned. I see nothing that leads me to think WHO is even implying it should be banned

Im not the one who is coming up with the title it is coming from social media and pretty much every article on this story.

https://meaww.com/who-slammed-sexist-paternalistic-suggesting-women-childbearing-age-banned-drinking-alcohol

The World Health Organization is being called sexist after its Global Alcohol Action Plan suggested that women of childbearing age should be banned from drinking alcohol. The 2022-2030 plan in question calls on countries to raise awareness of alcohol-related harm and its harmful use. The first draft of the plan says "appropriate attention" should be given to the prevention of drinking in children, pregnant women, and women of childbearing age as alcohol is associated with increased disease, poor mental health, violence, lost productivity, and strained relationships. The plan puts particular focus on how children are impacted when exposed to alcohol while still in the womb. But instead of saying that pregnant women should be prevented from drinking alcohol, the plan urges countries to ban any woman of child-bearing age from doing so. "Appropriate attention should be given to prevention of the initiation of drinking among children and adolescents, prevention of drinking among pregnant women and women of childbearing age, and protection of people from pressures to drink," the report said, adding, "One of the most dramatic manifestations of harm to persons other than drinkers is pre-natal alcohol exposure and the development of foetal alcohol spectrum disorders."

Twitter was quick to slam WHO over the plan, with the main chunk of enraged remarks coming, understandably from women. "The WHO are advising that ALL women 'of child-bearing age' (regardless of whether they intend to conceive, are remotely interested in having children, are able to conceive, have been raped or suffered contraceptive failure) stay off alcohol. Does that seem proportionate?" one Twitter user said, while another wrote, "Trying to understand why WHO are cautioning women of child bearing age to avoid alcohol. Health risks or fetal health risks? Also why not cautioning women outside of child bearing age? Why not men? #bbcwomanshour" A commenter tweeted, "WHO already trying to stop child bearing age women having alcohol. They'll be micromanaging every aspect of our life soon." Another remarked, "Screw you WHO - how about tackling some of the real problems facing women and girls in countries where they don't drink alcohol - forced marriage, FGM, honour killings, female infanticide... etc..." One of them chimed in, saying, "Will the WHO give same advice to men. Those who abuse women after drinking alcohol - would an abused womans bruises on a bottle do they same as a pregnant woman?"

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/love-victor-star-michael-cimino-anti-gay-comments-205021634.html

Love, Victor is the groundbreaking gay coming-of-age romance series, now in its second season on Hulu, that so many older LGBTQ people yearned for when they were teens. But according to co-stars Michael Cimino (Victor) and George Sear (who plays Victor's boyfriend Benji), not everyone is feeling so appreciative of the high school drama. "I got some homophobic comments I kind of expected that to happen. I didn't expect it from my own family members, though," Cimino told gay U.K. magazine Attitude in its new summer issue. "Some of them reached out, saying, 'You used to be so cool; now you're so gay.' I chalk it up to ignorance. People have that programming and they often dont have to evolve and try to push past that." Cimino, who identifies as straight, added, "Theres nothing wrong with being gay. That ignorance is often something thats been passed on from generations prior. I always approach that [by saying], 'These are normal people that are struggling and they shouldnt have to struggle.' Still, he pointed out, "I have changed opinions. I had some friends who are religious and they've changed their perspective on things." But still, some advised him to avoid gay roles so he wouldn't be typecast. "I've been advised that you shouldn't play gay roles, especially [for] your first big role. 'Everyone will think you're gay' or You won't be able to book anything,' 'Youll never be able to build a fan base.'"

For Cimino, criticism has come from all sides, including from those who do not approve of him playing gay and long-running and complex issue within the LGBTQ community. "I've definitely had some criticism from the LGBT community for being in the role I've had death threats, which is horrible. But the show is important to me. The messages of hate I came into it knowing that would happen, regardless of how good I was," Cimino said. "But there are some straight actors who play gay characters, who are all about supporting LGBT rights while they're promoting their project, but once theyre done, a year later, its kind of forgotten. Thats not how [to] be an ally, thats not how you support LGBT rights," he said. "If youre not an actual ally, then what are you doing?"

An angry mob ran down a Utah man with a car, then beat him to death after they heard he gave his pregnant girlfriend a black eye, reports said. At least six people swarmed 41-year-old Fred Valdamar Ortiz behind Smiths grocery store in Magna on Monday afternoon, Fox 13 reported. Ortizs girlfriend is a dog breeder and the group was at her home looking for a puppy when she told them he hit her and gave her a black eye a few days earlier, Fox 13 said, citing arrest records.

Ortiz drove by on a scooter and the furious group which included a 13-year old darted out of the house after him. One suspect, 19-year-old Osyeanna Martinez, hit Ortiz with a Volkswagen Beetle, KUTZ reported. Ortiz kept running, but his attackers were soon upon him, using a pole while he was on the ground, Fox 13 said. Surveillance footage from a restaurant nearby showed Martinez throwing two boards at Ortizs back and head, KUTV said. Police only identified one of the other suspects using a full name, 18-year-old Xandre Sky Hill, the TV station said. The other accused were identified in a police report using only their initials, according to KUTV. All of the suspects were in their teens and early 20s, the station said.

An Asian man delivering food by bicycle in New York was stabbed in the back by another cyclist in broad daylight, in an incident that police are investigating as the latest in a series of anti-Asian hate crimes. The 53-year-old victim was knocked to the ground by the attack, but got back up and completed the delivery with a knife wound only realising he had been stabbed when he arrived back at the restaurant. The Asian man, whose identity is being withheld, was attacked on Sunday evening when he was running an order in Brooklyn and a hooded assailant pedalled up behind him, asking cryptically: What happened? The manager said the delivery driver is scared and wants the NYPD to find his attacker quickly. According to the latest NYPD statistics up to 31 May, incidents of hate crimes against Asian people in New York City this year are up 335 per cent from the same period last year. Overall, hate crimes have increased by 98 per cent this year.

https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/hungary-lawmakers-pass-law-barring-lgbt-content-schools-78286650

Lawmakers in Hungary approved legislation Tuesday that prohibits sharing with minors any content portraying homosexuality or sex reassignment, something supporters said would help fight pedophilia but which human rights groups denounced as anti-LGBT discrimination. Fidesz, the conservative ruling party of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, introduced the legislation, which is the latest effort to curtail the rights of gay men, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people in the European Union nation located in central Europe. Hungary's National Assembly approved the bill in a 157-1 vote. Fidesz has a parliamentary majority, and lawmakers from the right-wing Jobbik party also endorsed the measure. One independent lawmaker voted against it. Csaba Domotor, the Fidesz state secretary, described the goal as the protection of children, noting that the changes include the introduction of a searchable registry of convicted pedophiles.

Pedophiles wont be able to hide any more there are similar solutions in other countries, too. The criminal code will be even more strict. Punishments will be more severe. No one can get away with atrocities with light punishments and parole, he said. All other opposition parties boycotted the voting session in protest. Human rights groups had denounced the measure strongly, saying it was wrong to conflate LGBT people with pedophilia. They argued that the law could be used to stigmatize and harass residents because of their sexual orientations and gender identities. On this shameful day, the oppositions place is not in the parliament but on the streets, Budapest Mayor Karacsony wrote on Facebook. The legislation, presented last week by Fidesz, was on its face primarily aimed at fighting pedophilia. It included amendments that ban the representation of any sexual orientation besides heterosexual as well as sex reassignment information in school sex education programs, or in films and advertisements aimed at anyone under 18. Thousands of LGBT activists and others held a protest in Budapest on Monday in an unsuccessful effort to stop the legislation from passing.
