it's worth paying attention to the way information is framed in stories. for example:

say 100 vaccinated people attend a party, and 5 unvaccinated people show up; 1 of whom is infected.

suppose the other 4 unvaccinated people get infected; and 4 of the vaccinated people also get infected. it could easily be framed as "50% of the people who caught it at this party were already vaccinated!" but it actually means the vaccine is 96% effective

I'm not saying your statistic there is misleading in the same way, but we do actually need more information. like 7% of infected people are vaccinated. but what percentage of the general population is vaccinated? (I do trust that it's significantly more than 7%)

It's important to remember, Greitens didn't resign because of the credible accusations that he raped and blackmailed a woman. He was adamant he would fight that until the end. He resigned after he learned the investigation into him would also lead investigators to his "charity" where he was ripping off vets.

Badically she was involved in a case to try and take our shitty previous Governor down on charges related to him to blackmailing a woman he had an affair with to stay quiet or he would leak nude photos of her. Greitens eventually resigned and the charges were dropped. Since then the state GOP has done anything they can to oppose any position she takes. They would literally rather let innocent people die in prison than let her have a victory. It's that simple.

Greitens, the blackmailing philandering sack of shit is likely to be the GOP Senate candidate when Roy Blunt's term is up and will likely win.

Had a phone interview today with a university hospital and scored a second interview. Feeling good. Lots of room growth. Degree opportunities if I want. Far better pay.

One co-worker may be crossing the picket line, so to speak, and staying. None of her offers have wanted to pay her more than she gets staying.

Like I already said, the goal of desexualizing athletes is a syssiphean task. As we speak, there's thousands of people watching the Olympics because they have a mask fetish. You literally cannot de-sexualize an attractive human being. Male or female, it is impossible to have people not find them sexy because it's base human instinct to think "Oh they're hot!", and frankly there's way more important problems to worry about in the Olympics right now.

So a couple of points:
A) I'm not demonizing Neon's sexual urges - I'm criticizing how they are expressed (which is true of a lot of how society operates). His discussion of old games where he played for the nudity.. trips to the beach and reports of what he saw there... etc, all fine. But when he says that women should keep skimpy clothing in athletic events? That takes away from them.. exactly like what the Norwegian team went though. If they (and simmer, gymnasts, etc) want to wear more clothing that is still suitable for their events, why are we insisting otherwise?
B) While the task of change is indeed Sissyphean, it can happen.. especially as you seem to be painting this as an "all or nothing" issues. We may not completely reduce sexualization but we can (and have) reduced it, These are small changes that don't require huge efforts, so I'm not sure what you mean by there's way more important things to worry about now.
C) Do you have a source for the mask fetiish? Not doubting you but never heard those numbers...

The issue with non-domesticated animals is that they have hormonal shifts and habits that we're not used to and they don't have the benefit of hundreds or thousands of years of breeding such traits out of them. For any animal, they can be fine 99.99% of the time and have a one off issue just once in their life, but a one off issue with a large animal can be instantly fatal to a human due to them not having the awareness to control their strength.

Its not that they showed too much restraint, its that the chief of police and the mayor showed incompetence in refusing to prepare efficiently because they didnt want to be seen in a negative light

The police showed the restraint they needed to show to not get themselves killed. The videos of them letting people in minus maybe one cop, are them moving gates because people had already gotten around them.

Unless it's less "hey we care about integrity" and more "hey, we realize if everyone voted we'd be out of power. And we simply cannot have that".

But lying to their constituents, gaslighting, and underhanded power grabs are par for the course for the present day republican party.

To me KOTH was about Hank Hill's traditional values and ideals being challenged, mostly through Bobby and his interests. The show was basically about Hank finding ways to connect with his son whose values and ideals were completely different from when Hank was growing up, and also how the world was constantly changing and Hank's struggle to keep up. it's satirical at it's core but I think the show was more meaningful than one would think
