Sure. With that in mind, I find it significant that the founding of his religion did nothing to curtail racism or racial slavery. You'd think that if you were God and were giving yourself one shot at laying out the blue print of how to live you'd include commands to outlaw slavery or something. But I guess the whole 'worship me' thing took up all the space.

To clarify my original post, I took issue with TC's use of the term "anti-racist." You can't just not be a racist to be an anti-racist. An anti-racist is somebody who uses the power available to them to fight racism actively.

Jesus, who is God, is omnipotent, able to change any aspect of his creation. He's also omniscient such that he already knows how his words will be used in the future. Given the literal infinite amount of power he has and his refusal to use it to prevent the horrific race-based enslaving and genocide of millions upon millions of people-- people living their entire lives in the confines of slave ships, working 16 hour days in a sugarcane plantation, mutilating themselves to avoid the agony of working any longer --Jesus is by definition not an anti-racist.

For Jesus to be an anti racist I'd at least expect him to use his omniscience and recognize that the Bible telling slaves to obey their masters would form a moral shieldwall for the American conquests and triangle trade which killed millions of black people and Native American people

That's not my experience. My favorite SCP is the Tupac album that raps about unsolved murders and the culprits.
http://www.scpwiki.com/scp-2137

One writer in particular did go back and change a couple of his earliest articles because he was unsatisfied with the quality. I also disagree with the decision, I think the old ones were better, but SCP policy is the author has control of their article. SCP articles are not changed by anyone but the original author unless there's something problematic in it (which to my knowledge has happened like maybe once with a -J article)

And now you are beginning to understand what I said to you in the other thread. This is why MLK and Malcom X are proof that world religions are vital.

They represent billions of people who are already primed to believe in a divine mandate to unify along socioeconomic lines. This is why the Kenneth Copelands of the world (fossil fuel garglers and evil people) try so hard to pollute Christianity, and this is why Epstein pets like Lawrence Krauss and Stephen Hawking (they were on his island) pollute atheism the way they do.
Dude literally what the fuck are you talking about?

Intended by who?? Why do you believe it's natural, expected, or demanded for a species to climb the Kardashev scale? It's a science fiction-tier measurement that currently cannot even be applied to more than 1 known species out of billions.

Malcom X didn't pick the tankie approach or the secular approach even though 100% they knew the arguments against faith at the time.
I was going to write about Malcolm X's advocacy of anti police violence and black separatism, but you keep using the word "tankie" which in your usage has become a nonsense word to describe whatever the fuck Shablagoo thinks we should do I guess.

Crime used to be blamed on sin, demons, and inborn malevolence. In reality, common crime is the result of a person's socioeconomic condition. Why would someone respect a system and world that is unapologetically unfair to them at a systemic level?

I edited my post to be more readable. I think it's worth reading.

Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.

The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions. The criticism of religion is, therefore, in embryo, the criticism of that vale of tears of which religion is the halo.
Marx identities the root issue with religion being its urging away from followers to focus on their material conditions. The core promise in Christianity is that the suffering we face in our life will be made right in Heaven. We are told we live in a fallen world and that a fair world on Earth is impossible while sin, which we are all infected with since Eve, exists. It's hard for religion to be a tool to fight economic & material oppression when the most important thing people find in it is getting over their fear of death.

No. Since the dawn of the Cold War, religion has been blatantly wielded by American conservatives to subvert class consciousness. The American government married communism to atheism in the American mind, specifically atheism to mean lacking in moral or ethical judgment. That the Soviets could not make the 'right' policy choices like America does or have the correct kind of democracy because they lacked Jesus as a guiding light.

Ronald Reagan grew to his Titan status not in factories or at town square but in churches across America. The legacy of this is easily observable today in the modern Republican party who use appeals to Leviticus to deny human rights to LGBT people and proclaim godlessness when the Democratic legislature declines to lead session with a prayer.

Certainly, MLK's preacher lifestyle and Malcolm X's identity as a Muslim shaped how they formed their opinions and connected to others. But everyone in America was a Christian just about.

At best it's a political entrance fee, something that liberators may have to work with due to the sheer ubiquity of it. At worst it will be thrown in your face to protect the divine right of the king, or to give to Caesar what is his.

You will be told your fixation on material conditions is sinful and to focus on cleansing your spirit and awaiting salvation, that poverty and destitution is saintlike. You will be told that your desire to preserve the planet spits in the face of God's command to Adam to rule over nature. You will be told that Jesus did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets and that homosexuality is rotting your soul.

That is what conservatives still say today and that is one of the biggest divisors of the American population. Every rotting practice of the GOP is backed up by the holy print. In contrast, who is really engaging Richard Dawkins nowadays? Christopher Hitchens is dead. Nobody cares about the four horsemen anymore.

Your idea that these dudes writing pop-philo books about their lack of belief in a God being the big thing distracting people from unionizing and conserving the environment is absolutely bizarre. It's religion, and the right's rejection of scientific consensus to protect their cognitive dissonance, that halts progress in the United States.

I mean sure but that doesn't mean that it or progressive portrayals of Christianity are a sturdy foundation to find moral or ethical beliefs in. If you only find Jesus' words valuable because Jesus said them, then it's an arbitrary position. If you find them to be valuable words that Jesus happened to say, then you don't need Jesus in the equation to justify their truth.

"Just read what Jesus actually said" isn't a particularly useful viewpoint when the Catholic Church extracted a millennium of doctrine and study just from his words. I mean shit comes to down to debates about the minutiae of translation and transcription to see whether salvation is achieved through faith alone or faith and good works. Now we have hundreds of separate denominations of protestants in the US who all claim to be divining the real truth from the Bible. Thats what happens when you base morality on gospels from ancient Rome. Abolitionists in the west found that the Bible couldn't even be used to justify the ending of slavery, or even solely the freeing of converted slaves, due to Jesus' words about slaves respecting their masters.

the whole point is for people to coexist and have the most charitable and level'd up version of their worldviews. in this equation, Islam is not the problem. it's State-worship.
"Charitable and level'd up worldview" is a nonsense statement. The burqa itself is a symbol and practice of the idea that men and women can't simply coexist in public spaces.
