But it's funny, because they also were (I guess still are) trying to copy Nolan's TDK grittiness which is part of the reason Snyder was even hired in the first place. Because now they ARE releasing the parts that were cut (like three and a half hours worth) for not being good enough and you have critics saying "actually this is way better." I have to echo Lightning Strike's sentiments here. It's no longer about if Snyder is a good director (he isn't) or even if this movie is good (I'm doubtful). But directors SHOULD get to make the movies they want. WB turned the Joker into an arthouse film and made one billion fucking dollars. Now, after a truly preposterous series of events, they are trying to market an edit of a bad Justice League movie the same way. And some of the critics are buying it! Remember the Sorscese "is MCU cinema?" discourse? This is its final form. If WB somehow also makes a billion dollars off this then maybe we can get blockbuster studios to trust their directors to do weird shit, but in way less stupid ways. Elysium stands out because it feels very tough but fair. The danger of dealing with respawning enemies really keeps me on my toes in a way the other areas don't and there's a real consideration involved with taking Troves or Chaos boons. I actually felt like they are starting to put their game design where there mouths are. 11s and 12s have some pretty big heal checks, though outside of those (and as gear improved throughout the tier) it does slide back into mostly dps. It shows me they're at least thinking about it. Though this does not solve the problem for normal mode stuff where they have to consider player skill and random roulette. And healers do just need more engaging dps buttons. The pacing was crazy and while none of it felt superfluous to the plot it was just...very fast and very exposition heavy. Things just happen to happen I really liked the core setup with Raya, the dragon, and Raya's evil cat lady girlfriend and I think it could have been a great movie if they had trimmed the exposition and maybe some locations and characters. The characters just needed more focus and time to breathe. My fianc said it would have worked better as a series or miniseries and I don't think she's wrong. If you are going in for exp, Praetorium is MUCH better for the time spent. Personally I think both are too long to be worth my time so I only run it when I am truly desperate. About as good as Heavensward - the parts that arent as good are made up for with improvements in other areas. The dungeons being a big one, easily the best set of dungeons so far. Even the intro dungeon is memorable and different. I feel that really it just slows down a bit in the first half then picks up. Well see how the patches go but I liked it a lot. One thing you basically don't have to worry about this game is the quality of the gameplay. For better or for worse, the devs just copy the structure of Heavensward for every expansion, making iterative improvements. This has its pros and cons but guarantees a strong core gameplay loop and frees up the devs to mess around on side content at the cost of making the "main" game structure pretty samey. I'll admit part of why I'm so harsh on Stormblood is that as someone who played since early-ish Heavensward, the writing is the main point of distinction for me between the two! Well, that and gameplay balance changes which no longer exist (let me tell you for those that missed it: the class balance in Stormblood wasn't bad compared to other games, but as far as this game goes it was pretty wacky!). --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |

It wasn't until later that Graham figured out it was broken that they tried to fix it, but it was too late at this point. It should have never gotten to this point. I can't even blame the auto industry. They got paid more money not to work. That's not their fault. That's the fault of the people who let that happen. So if I'm following your logic, you voted for Democrata because the first stimulus gave too MUCH money to your workplace which caused a snowball effect that made you lose your job?
