It sure has been a week for Homestuck news!

Well. I'm surprised to hear they have already washed their hands of it but the rest is expected.

If you haven't read Psycholonials, a large part of it is Hussie rationalizing this decision. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it - it's less of a "good story" and more Hussie aimlessly ruminating on toxic internet culture and leftist theory dressed up in a story about a clown egirl. It basically feels like reading Hussie's diary and should be taken with that expectation. Very good soundtrack by Clark Powell though so there's that.

Yeah, this has been my impression. He wrote the first and final episodes of the seasons too. It's been a while but I think most of the stuff that was cut so far was just some early villain-of-the-week type stuff, but much more has been added or shifted around.

I thought about making a topic but didn't know if there's be interest. But yeah, show kicks ass. Anyone with an interest in superheroes that can handle some edge and occasional hyperviolence should check it out.

I've been a fan since the comics and they have honestly done a fantastic job adapting the material. Yeah, the production is occasionally a little rough around the edges but they nail all the parts that matter. Every major change they've made has been a good one, even the slower pacing which I was worried about really only dragged in the most recent episode (6) which is kind of to be expected with the last few episodes coming up.

The comics are definitely worth the read too, though fair warning that after the halfway point things get a little shaky. Still, up until that peak it is good shit. With the way the show is going it could easily be 3-4 seasons until it gets to that point.

Doing fashion report every week is a huge and easy chunk of MGP. Make sure to pop one of the MGP buff squadron manuals when you do it too because it gets buffed by that.

No, it went away twice before because it sucked ass. This is the third iteration and they seem to have finally found a dedicated use and formula for it by tying it to The Firmament. Unless they want to overhaul that too they no longer have a reason to change it.

I did one of the Restoration Fetes and it was borderline unplayable. You have to click the join fate button for some events and it would just not register. I had to to there spamming the button for like 30 seconds to a minute sometimes. It worked for me but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't for everyone. And then between fates the lag was awful and I saw so many pokeballs I thought the server was about to go down! No fucking clue why the lag got BETTER during fates either.

People will run repeatedly to try and get specific gear drops for the class they want each week, or to win one of the cosmetic rewards at the end

Also in theory alliance raid roulette but most people use that one for leveling so idk how much of a factor it really is

not sure if they added a daily element to this one (haven't done it yet) but normally raid drops reset with the weekly reset on Tuesdays

I dont think so. Obviously Obama would have the final say but from what I understand, Biden was very heavily involved in the middle east strategy. Certainly was responsible for some bad calls.

That last scene with Zenos picking his weapon seems to pretty much confirm the speculation that the new melee job will be whatever Zenos decides to do in 6.0

Honestly surprised they're even dragging the weapon reveal out so long. I thought for sure we'd see it in that scene. And given Yoshi-P's "hints" it just seems incredibly obvious to be a scythe unless this has all been an elaborate ruse.

also that scene kicks ass, I like how they're just kind of leaning in to how inherently ridiculous Zenos is as a character. Obviously he hasn't DONE much but he fits this tone much more than the bored ruler purposely losing a very serious revolution because he just wants to play video games

I mean I'll give Sarah Z some credit here - Gio's blog post was widely circulated amongst us weirdos who would still check in on Homestuck and its drama from time to time, and at least somewhat commonly accepted if only partially. Kind of similar to how ipgd's old blog post was? So it makes sense to include.

But the Homestuck fanbase has been going though such toxic drama with the staff (which goes both ways on occasion although the fandom has never been a stranger to launching witch hunts) that makes the decision to not reach out to the staff for info a really baffling choice. Now she's been put into a position where her video is immediately outdated.

yeah I couldn't believe it when I saw the email.

There was a bit of drama that happened today that this is a response to. A few months back there was a blog post by someone claiming to have anonymous sources about Hussie mistreating artists, lying to TOG, and blaming him and the HS team for a lot of things. Basically accusing Hussie of being the exploitative one and going against most of the original leak from years ago. It's not really that implausible, but there's a lot of speculation involved. And some of it ended up being true! One of the accusations was that Hussie used TOG to work on the Act 7 animation, misuing Kickstarter funds to do so. And as we can see in this kickstarter email...that was partially true, except WP is saying this was a completely separate issue with a different payment source.

The HS team seems to maintain that the author of the blog post is a weird stalker who won't leave them alone. Well, today, a youtube blogger uploaded a video about the downfall of Homestuck, linking the blog and taking it as fact, and apparently did not reach out to the Homestuck team at all, which has them understandably upset. So this looks like it was deliberately made to clear the air in the wake of all that.

Well I'll easily admit the stormblood normal modes hold up better but I encourage people to get into the current extreme trials before they're no longer relevant in another few months so that you too can one day complain about how things were back in the day!

However, I do think there is a better overall vision for the dungeons and trials and how to fit them into the expansion, for instance compare the first HW dungeon to the first SB dungeon. I also was surprised by how much better the trial design was, while there was an upward trend for these ones there was a much bigger rise in quality imo, especially for the post-game trials. So Ill give SB that, it does feel like there was a bit of a rethink on how duties were being done.

I think you're exaggerating the jump in trial quality but come to think of it that's probably due to me going through this stuff as it was current and running it over and over. Also, I really don't think you can judge trials based solely on the normal mode. Heavensward's trials for the most part all have solid to great extremes, but the normal modes...well. For example, Thordan EX is one of the best fights in the entire game, and normal mode is just a joke. Ditto for Nidhogg although the normal mode did get to be a noob crusher for a time. What Stormblood did well was up the cinematic aspect and mechanical gimmicks to make even the normal fights feels unique, even when it resulted in bad gimmicks (yeah I'm looking at you Byakko and Lakshmi).

So basically, what Stormblood is doing is largely making moderate improvements in the visuals and atmosphere while going through the motions mechanically. This applies to the dungeons (except a few standouts like Bardham's Mettle), and for the trials it's weird because they end up improving the normal modes at the expense of the extremes. I think they've hit a much better balance with that in Shadowbringers and they accomplished it largely by ditching the dumb gimmicks.

Nah, it gained its reputation before Shadowbringers was even announced. It was basically universally considered "not as good as Heavensward" at release and then only went downhill as the honeymoon period wore off and the patches came out. I know people who quit playing the game because of it lol

And yeah, they improved the gameplay and fight design. But uh...they copy and paste the same game structure every expansion. They better get better at game design! I'm not sure how much credit I give Stormblood on that compared to the dev team itself doing their thing.

It's a matter of scale.

Running the entire internet data centers is by current estimates something like 1-2% of global energy usage. So using the 0.5% number posted earlier, NFTs as much energy as 25%-50% of the internet for nowhere near the same benefit.

Also, the more NFTs are made, the harder they get to make, and the more energy they tend to require. That's baked in to the process get them to retain value by making them artificially scarce.

It's pretty good. Nothing mindblowing but it's well-made and worth playing if you're in a Metroidvania mood. I wouldn't call it a must-play unless you are specifically into Castlevania.

You can probably count the amount of times Trump did a challenging interview in his entire 4-year term on one hand. I cam think if two off the top of my head. I don't remember Obama's media profile but I'd be a little surprised if the amount of hard interviews he did was in the double digits. Though part of that is that Obama was just a good speaker. People say for example the Daily Show interview was good but the main thing I remember from that was how nervous Jon Stewart was to be interviewing him.

Restoration turn-ins are always available. The only part that isn't is the special builder events which don't really matter (and anyways, they're adding in a recurring version in the next patch).

By "ending" I'm assuming people mean the entire month of January in Persona 3 and yeah. It's top notch. Persona 3's biggest flaw is that there's no "definitive" version. P3P makes so many improvements with the gameplay and writing but absolutely dumpsters the atmosphere of the PS2 version.

Looking at that patch page, I have no idea what Save the Queen is, but I more mean stuff from past expansions. Haven't tackled Eureka yet either, but I know how to start that up at least.

Save the Queen is the current relic weapon plotline. It's got enough Lore that I think it's worth attempting and seeing if you're into it. You should be able to pick it up in Kugane. If you can't find it, you might be missing some Ivalice quests? Or maybe Doman Enclave stuff?

Eureka is similar though less accessible. Personally I've never finished it.

You know, realizing I hadn't done any dungeons that were setup for the Heavensward Alliance Raid until today was bad enough and I was preparing to come here and bemoan that, but I just finished up Lost City of Amador (Hard)...what a dungeon to have skipped.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm not sure if we ever got an official explanation (let alone in-universe) for why they reused those designs for Shadowbringers! I can't remember if they admitted they were placeholders that made it into the final version or if that's just the common accepted reason.

Made it up to T9 but can't burn the boss down quick enough and a mechanic from the dragons kills me instantly.
Can't decide on trying to get through it or just waiting until the expansion level bump and burning through it easily in a few months.

Well they're also doing a number crunch so it's unclear how much that will even help

The big blocking point in T9 unsynced is the phase transition with the failed mechanic meteors going off as the boss hits you. That's STILL unsurvivable at 80 on most jobs, however RDM should be able to handle it with Vercure spam.
