Pikasprey has a bunch of vids on his channel dedicated to Pokemon softlock ideas and ways to work around them.

I did mention this in the OP. These are super specific things that would, in all likelihood, never ever happen to someone not explicitly trying to set them up. I'm talking about things that a first time player could accidentally get themselves into just playing normally.

Oh also this only prevents a 100% but it's still hilarious--in Donkey Kong 64 there's a golden banana behind a timed mini game that becomes virtually un-obtainable when playing normally after you get a specific upgrade because it causes the game to lag too much. I tried watching the video but I had to turn it off before he actually got to the explanation of the glitch because I hated him so much.

What are some games that can be made impossible (or next to impossible) to beat without starting the whole game over? I'm not talking about stuff like the absurdly specific scenarios people have intentionally set up to make Pokemon unwinnable, but games that can be made impossible or nearly impossible to beat just through normal gameplay, either by squandering supplies in games where they are limited, missing an essential item that you can't go back and get, saving in a spot that is impossible to leave, etc. Please try to be as spoiler-free as possible.

I'm playing it now and I'm enjoying it! I was never able to get into the main series. I tried playing the first game twice, once on Game Cube and once on Wii, and just couldn't get into it, but I'm enjoying this spinoff.

Sweet! They never finished releasing this show on DVD because they had issues with the rights regarding some of the guest stars, specifically the musicians, so it's cool that they have it settled for streaming.

Like we've seen video, newspaper articles, photos, as well as countless videos of ertyu's passion over a several year long period. Trey Mcalexander is real.

It would make more sense that vlado is ertyu's alt than vise versa.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that Vlado IS Trey and ertyu is just a persona. Unlikely, but not impossible.

Well, the final level was MUCH easier than the penultimate one... or at the very least, the solution was far more obvious to me.

A nice little puzzle game. Definitely some stumpers that made me feel dumb once I finally got them, but that's the nature of puzzle games. I really liked the atmosphere. I only ever played a little of Braid but this feels pretty similar. Probably not worth the $20 I paid for it but if you can get it on sale and you're a fan of the genre it's worth a look.

Edit: ugh, got it. That was a rough one. Incidentally, a trophy name was what made me try something bizarre, even though I didn't end up getting the trophy.

Okay now I'm completely stuck on the one with the big pipe in the middle. Please tell me that's the one everyone else got stuck on too, or I'll feel stupid. I thought it looked very straightforward at first but I just can't make it work.

Luigi's Mansion (Game Cube)
Oh my God, I thought that last boss was going to give me a stroke I was getting so mad at it. Seriously, what was its hitbox, like the size of Pichu?

Anyway, I kinda like these short, contained games. One of my favorite things about The Sexy Brutale was opening up new areas of the mansion and seeing what I couldn't see before, and that was present in this game too. The gameplay got a bit repetitive (an inherent weakness in this kind of game) but they found creative ways to spice it up. Capturing the last 10 or so Boos was annoying (as it had every right to be) but rewarding. I'll probably play the sequels at some point. But man that final boss just turned me off for a while.

I'm surprised I never had this game when I was young, considering Luigi was always my favorite Mario character and Game Cube was my primary console that generation.

It wasn't quite PT'd. Pre-generated codes were for sale on Best Buy's site for a few years after it was delisted. They did eventually sell out, but had been available for ample time.

Probably not something I'll spend money on again unless somehow I lose access to the original on PS3.

But I am glad it's finally out on a Nintendo system. I always thought it was a little shady that it never was before given that the source material has so many Nintendo-specific references.

Yeah, this is definitely something that really only works on-rails IMO and I'm perfectly fine with it.

As for content, I'm not going to kid myself and think that this is going to include all 800-whatever Pokemon and be like 15-20 hours long. I'm gonna guess like 6-8 hours for an initial playthrough with somewhere around 200 Pokemon.

Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue (PS1)

One of my old time favorites. I came back to replay this classic. Nice, open worlds, variety of explorable and attainable goals, and the music. All 15 levels have their own unique track. What licensed third party game does that?! Probably it was a better time back then. Game's not perfect of course. It's got that pin-point accurate jumping mechanic that forces you to start aaaaall the way back should you fuck up even once which is alright if most of the obstacle courses weren't vertical with zero shortcuts to pepper in between (not really a fault of the era but still an egregious example for its time). And if it wasn't the paper thin platforms bothering you, it was the atrocious camera. Boss fights are also pretty lame and straightforward albeit the weakest part of an exploration-based game so whatever.

Love this game and still play it every now and then. Actually, a lot of the N64/PS1-era Disney tie-in games were pretty good.

Biggest thing im hoping for, other than expanded length, is the ability to save more than one photo of each Pokemon. It sucked for example being limited to keeping just one photo of Pikachu when he appeared on almost every stage and could do special things on most of them.

They were fueling the flames between Brent & Caite and Carol & Brandy just because they didn't like the latter, U-turned Joe & Heidi just because they hated how cocky Joe was (despite them being at least twice as cocky), and tried to form a clique based on who they thought were the most moral people (which ironically included mostly cutthroat teams) that backfired on them miserably.

Yeah Jet & Cord 1.0 are totally fine.

Louie & Michael are definitely not decent though. They were cocky, holier-than-thou assholes who thought they were God's gift to TAR despite nearly being eliminated in all of the first three legs and then spent the rest of the race determining who "deserved" to be there based on a petty middle school-ish social criteria.

Looks like Survivor has abandoned their traditional DVD cover format and is now putting the tribe photos on there, allowing everyone to be on the cover.

Odd that they would begin this with 39, given that there are people on that season who I can't believe they'd want on the cover. Not to mention the format just looks... bad. They All-Stars and Cambodia formats look much better.
