darkx has beaten Super Mario Galaxy 2

Definitely not my favorite of the 3D Mario platformers. In fact I'd put it second-to-last, only above 3D World. I thought the controls felt stiff, the camera could be inconvenient at times, and both of these made some stars needlessly frustrating to get, particularly timed ones. I've also never ever enjoyed riding Yoshi in a 3D game and this was no exception.

The graphics, music and level design were just as good as the original though. Maybe I prefer the levels in the original out of nostalgia but that's about it. Finally playing that one after months of hunting down a Wii was fantastic. This... didn't have that same joy to it.

And I guess that sort of ties into the "BIPOC character gets turned into something that's not themselves for the majority of the movie" although I expected it to be worse here so there's that at least.

I actually have to wonder, does the fact that Joe's human body was on screen for a lot longer than in most other such cases make it better, or does the fact that he was voiced by Tina Fey for a large chunk of that time make it worse?

SMG2 progress - made it to world 5 with 43 stars. It feels like I'm nearing the end of the game so I might beat it tonight. If not, then definitely tomorrow.

I also beat Murder By Numbers this year and have beaten Uncharted: Lost Legacy in the past.

Murder By Numbers was very fun and addicting and the characters were mostly pretty likable, especially the two leads, so I hope to see a sequel.

Lost Legacy is basically standalone DLC and I knew that going in so its length and lack of new features didn't bother me too much. It was nice to see Chloe again after she had been completely absent from 4, and Uncharted gameplay is always phenomenal anyway. I hope they keep the series going. Maybe Uncharted 5 can star Cassie?

Incidentally, both of those games feature a woman of color as the lead, which is pretty cool. A sorely-lacking demographic in game leads that could maybe draw in new/different gamers if there were more of.

Also I do like option 2 because there have been plenty of months where I'm really not interested in almost anything from the nomination pool, and I would hate to have that be a month that ends up being a support month. And when a game I'm super interested in does come up from someone else, I'd like to be able to just toss it a second to increase its chances of being picked (thus increasing my chances of participating).

That being said I understand if it's a lot of work for you.

Played a lot of SMG2 today. Made it to World 4 with 32 stars. I'm enjoying it better but I still find the controls a little stiff which has made a lot of stars frustrating, especially races and prankster comets.

I absolutely LOVE Christmas music. It's among my favorites, and it really just puts me in the mood for the season. But I wouldn't want to listen to it year-round. Part of the charm is that this is something I only get to enjoy for 6-8 weeks out of the year, but I cram in as much as possible during those weeks.

I've been watching a bunch of them this year, including a few that have eluded me all these years, and have discovered that there are still a bunch more that I've never seen.

Obviously too late this year but I think this would be nice to do a conglomerate ranking of next year. It's be a pretty quick watch-through - there are only 19 of them (this is strictly the Christmas/holiday/December-related ones) and only one of them is longer than an hour.
