Greatest 6th Round Success regardless of draft position - Jags K Andrew Franks (29th)

After having David Akers for the first 12 seasons, the Jags turned to Franks for S13, and he came up with 27 FGs on 81 FG% and hit 6-7 from 50+. K stats have quite a bit of volatility, but this is very encouraging!

Greatest 6th Round Success considering draft position - Packers OT Keenan Evans (30th)

Evans was the 17th OT taken and while he didn't put up the sterling ratios like other rookie OL did, he had 62 blocks against 9 sacks as the 190th overall pick. I wouldn't say that people would kill for that production as that means your vastly superior OL went down with injuries, but everyone would be happy with that production given the circumstances.

Greatest 7th Round Success regardless of draft position - Pioneers MLB Kyle Kato (7th)

Kato played five games as a rookie because incumbent starting Clifton Thompson was injured during the preseason. In those five games, he had 48 tackles, 6 sacks, 1 INT, 2 FFs, 2 FRs, and a defensive TD. He sat on the bench for the following 11 games, but he still was a Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate. The Pioneers used the picks they acquired trading with the Bears to select WR Stefon Diggs, SS Vonn Bell, and MLB Kyle Kato. All three were impressive, but it was the 7th rounder who was arguably the best of them all.

Greatest 7th Round Success considering draft position - Buccaneers P Peter Mortell (27th)

Mortell finished tied for 6th in punting average and tied for 11th in net average. He was on the leaderboard for punting average almost wire-to-wire.

Greatest 4th Round Success regardless of draft position - Falcons WR Matt Hazel (14th)

Hazel was the 10th WR taken in the draft and finished 2nd among rookies at the position in rec yards with 690, and this was for an offense that had barely 2300 yards through the air.

Greatest 4th Round Success considering draft position - Ravens OT Chad Wheeler (24th)

The 11th OT taken in the draft, Wheeler started five games and put up 36 blocks against 2 sacks allowed for the AFC North champions.

Greatest 5th Round Success regardless of draft position - Cowboys WR Rory Henderson (31st)

Yes he tied or was the outright leader for fumbles thanks to his dual role as a returner, but Henderson is probably the greatest Cowboys success story for Day 3 WRs for a franchise known to produce quite a few of them. As the slot receiver, he had 26 rec for 465 yards and a pair of TDs while also finishing 16th in KR avg, 3rd in PR avg, and chipping in a return TD.

Greatest 5th Round Success considering draft position - Bucs SS Andre Cobb (27th)

Well, Henderson was taken with the second-to-last pick in the round, so I guess that I'm going with Cobb here. His statline was pretty great considering his draft and playing status with 39 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF, and 2 FRs. He played for a Bucs team coming off of maybe its worst season ever, so it's hard to say if he put up an empty statline and was really a liability.

Biggest 3rd Round Disappointment regardless of draft position - Packers G Jeremiah Poutasi (30th)

I'm really grasping at straws here, so the disappointments will end at this round. Instead of grabbing an interior OL in the 1st round like Cameron Erving, Brandon Sherff, and Joshua Garnett, all of whom combined for 79 blocks vs 11 sacks, the Packers waited until Day 2 to select one and Poutasi put up 2 blocks against 2 sacks for a team that went from picking 31st to 3rd in just one season.

Biggest 3rd Round Disappointment considering draft position - Steelers TE O.J. Howard (2nd)

The Steelers not only traded up but gave up what ended up being the 52nd pick to select Howard who though caught 2 TD passes had just a 6.0 YPC. The TEs selected just after Howard, Hunter Henry and David Njoku, had an 8.7 YPC on much higher volumes.

Greatest 3rd Round Success regardless of draft position - Lightning TE David Njoku (10th)

Njoku was a rare TE Rookie of the Year candidate (let's ignore that it was arguably our weakest season for offensive rookies) and easily solidified himself as the best TE in the franchise since Dallas Clark left. He had 63 rec for 514 yards and 4 TDs.

Greatest 3rd Round Success considering draft position - Jags RG Spencer Drango (12th)

3rd round rookies just didn't do much this season, so I'm going all the way to the 12th player taken in the round. In a lost season for Jacksonville that was plagued with injury after injury, especially on the offensive line, Drango had 25 blocks against 4 sacks while starting five games in place of an injured Ronald Leary

Biggest 2nd Round Disappointment regardless of draft position - Giants DT Ra'Shede Hageman (19th)

Eddv must sure be happy to have his first two draft picks named to this. There were like 70-something players that were eligible for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Hageman finished second to last ahead of a 7th rounder and behind undrafted free agents. He had 3 tackles as the rotational DT.

Biggest 2nd Round Disappointment considering draft position - Chiefs DE Alex Okafor (1st)

This is mainly due to a missed opportunity cost to drafting DEs Stephon Tuitt, Leonard Williams, and Dee Ford when the Chiefs were gifted an opportunity to move up and select one of them. They didn't accept it, and Tuitt and Ford are 85s, Williams 83, and Okafor is 77.

Greatest 2nd Round Success regardless of draft position - Pioneers G Wes Schweitzer (13th)

Because the Chiefs did not move up, the Pioneers did not draft WR Allen Hurns with what would have been the 33rd overall pick and took Schweitzer at 45. He had 40 blocks against 5 sacks, helped pave the wave for MVP finalist HB Markus Manson, and was starting in a Super Bowl as a rookie.

Greatest 2nd Round Success considering draft position - Pioneers SS Vonn Bell (29th)

Double Pioneers for this round. The Pioneers used the pick in the Le'Veon Bell trade to select another Bell. While incumbent SS Jessie Daniels was excellent and went on a tear with the Browns after a midseason trade, Bell still produced 3 sacks, 3 INTs, and a FF as he helped shut down opposing defenses en route to the SB.

To continue filling in the time, I will judge players coming off of their rookie seasons. For the first few rounds, I will name my biggest disappointments both regardless and considering draft position (like Top 10 in the round) as well as greatest successes both regardless and considering draft position (like Bottom 10 in the round).

Biggest 1st Round Disappointment regardless of draft position - Giants WR Tyler Lockett (19th)

The league's most expensive rookie was mostly a non-factor in the pass game despite starting all 16 games behind an offense that threw for nearly 3000 yards. He had 26 rec for 331 yards and a TD. Street free agent Sam DeSa had 378 yards and 3 TDs in five games

Biggest 1st Round Disappointment considering draft position - Panthers QB Carson Wentz (3rd)

Wentz was the #3 overall pick and had the third worst passer rating in the league. His 67.3 passer rating was worse than the disgraced Matt Ryan ever produced in a season. Taken two picks later, Lions QB Jared Goff produced an 81.4 passer rating.

Greatest 1st Round Success regardless of draft position - Dolphins MLB Jordan Tripp (32nd)

He won Defensive Player of the Year as a rookie. Enough said.

Greatest 1st Round Success considering draft position - Hawks G Connor McGovern (26th)

Interior OL seldom get taken in the 1st round, but McGovern was a mega hit his rookie season. He had 51 blocks against 3 sacks allowed as he helped DeMarco Murray tie a career best at 4.6 YPC and the Hawks make a late season surge to claim the AFC West and a playoff win.

Everyone except the new people should know this, but the league began not with the actual rosters of the 32 teams for the 2005-2006 season but a random fantasy draft where users picked the teams they wanted and the game did an automated draft to fill those teams. With 13 seasons completed, there are 34 active players who are still with the team that selected them in the fantasy draft. Because of retirement ages, the overwhelming majority will be OL, DL, Ks, and Ps, but there are a few exceptions:
- Bears RG Shawn Andrews
- Bengals LT Khalif Barnes
- Bengals WR Mike Williams
- Bills RT Alex Barron
- Broncos RT Elton Brown
- Broncos RT Shane Olivea
- Broncos DT Tommie Harris
- Colts K Jeff Reed
- Colts DT Ian Scott
- Dolphins LE Travis Johnson
- 49ers K Josh Scobee
- 49ers LE Marcus Spears
- Giants MLB Barrett Ruud
- Jets K Lawrence Tynes
- Jets RG Jake Grove
- Lions P Rodney Williams
- Lions K Rob Bironas
- Lions LG Justin Smiley
- Lions RG Jonathan Clinkscale
- Packers K Josh Brown
- Packers C Jeff Faine
- Packers LG Logan Mankins
- Panthers MLB Jonathan Vilma
- Patriots P Dustin Colquitt
- Patriots TE Heath Miller
- Pioneers K Nate Kaeding
- Pumpkins P Kyle Larson
- Rams RT Robert Gallery
- Rams LG David Diehl
- Seahawks RG Chris Snee
- Titans K Robbie Gould
- Vikings P Dave Zastudil
- Vikings RG Qasim Mitchell
- Washington K Mike Nugent

With Vince Wilfork and Ty Warren's retirements, we are down to two players who have started all 208 B8NFLL games thus far:
- Dolphins DE Travis Johnson
- Broncos DT Tommie Harris.

Phase 2 of Restricted Free Agency has ended

For Phase 3, I will notify any users whose RFAs they offered a tender to were signed to a contract by another team. Those users will have until Noon ET on Saturday, September 5th to decide if they wish to match the contract or let them sign with the other team for draft pick compensation. Should all teams notify me before the deadline, then we will begin the next offseason event sooner.

I should get this in before the deadline, but we have another trade to announce

Bills receive:
DT Babatunde Oshinowo (89 overall, 36 years old)

Raiders receive:
Bills 3rd round pick (66th overall)
Bills 5th round pick (130th overall)

The Bills will assume a $5.41 mil contract.

The Raiders will incur a $1.76 mil cap penalty to shed a $7.17 mil cap hit.

The Bills want to use some mid-round picks to fill a massive hole in their DL as they try to fix their run defense.

The Raiders feel that they have a playoff-caliber roster and are willing to shed the 36-year-old Oshinowo's salary to put it elsewhere.

Both parties demonstrated that they understood the financial impact, what Oshinowo did in his one season in Oakland, and what each team hoped to achieve (again sort of, and I will be more strict on this in the future).

This trade is now official.

I tried out Yakuza 0 on Sunday just to see if it was something I would want to play going forward. Ultimately, I ended up uninstalling the game. It wasn't bad, but it was just...okay? It's pretty outdated for a 2015 game. It would seemingly fit in with the GC/Xbox/PS2 era, but that was a decade before it came out! I would love to see its multi-fighting styles inside a game with a modern design.

Pacing (what is this, a Metal Gear Solid game?), a hub city that can be a pain to navigate (why do so many people want to fight you?), and disappointing side activities (I liked darts and bowling to a lesser extent) were also things that I had issue with to where I just felt it wasn't worth investing more than my five hours.

I may start Stick It later today.

To celebrate their October birthday, darkx has given us two games to decide what will be featured next month

Golden Sun (GBA/Wii U)

vs

The Beatles: Rock Band (Wii/360/PS3)

Neither of these games should need introductions.

Just vote for which one you would like to be featured in September, and you are free to change or rescind your vote at any time.

I would prefer that the birthday person refrain from making comments about the games they put forth as to not influence voters (it goes without saying that birthday people can't vote).

What is Game of the Month Club?
Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck)

The Basics
- Each month will usually feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated
- For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing
- In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month
- If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so
- Drawing for next month's games is usually around a week before the end of the month
- If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will think you are super awesome!

Nomination Rules
- You get one nomination automatically each month
- You receive additional nominations each month for every selected game that you beat
- Each game you nominate has to be unique from all other nominations and cannot include a game that has already been selected for GotM
- Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game)
- Nominations only carry over if you beat a selected game after the drawing for next month's games but before the end of the month

We are 10 days away from the opening game, so I felt like it was time to put this up.

For those who aren't familiar, the basic premise of this is that you are to select one team each week to win their matchup. Win and you move on. Lose or tie, and see you next season. The kicker is that you can pick each team only once per season.

Official Rules
1. Choose one team to win each week
2. If your team wins, you move on. If your team loses or ties, you are eliminated
3. You cannot select a team more than once in a season
4. lolrams
5. You are free to change your pick as many times as you want, but you are locked in once the team you are currently on kicks off
6. Never forget rule #4

I know of absolutely nobody else who has beaten Xillia 2, so I could be totally alone on it. Yeah, you play the game for how great Ludger is in combat. The story eventually gets super bad with an even worse ending.

I liked the performance, but I didn't particularly care for the character herself, so I guess that's a no

I never played the sequel.

RFA Phase 2

The following posts will contain a list of all RFAs, sorted by team, that were offered tenders by their team during the first phase. Each player will have in parenthesis the draft pick compensation required to sign (not simply offer but actually sign) them as well as the default deal that they are looking for to the side.

In order to even submit an offer to a player, you must have the draft picks on hand. Early has the NFL Draft order, which includes any draft pick ownership changes based on previous trades. There have been a few trades since, so keep those in mind for those affected. You should also keep in mind that if you own multiple picks in a round, signing an RFA will have you lose the worst of how ever many picks you have. For example, let's say the Pioneers try to sign Broncos FS Micah Hyde. They own the 8th, 14th, and 31st picks in the 4th round. Should Hyde accept their offer and the Broncos elect not to match their offer in the third phase, the Pioneers will end up giving the Broncos the 31st pick in the 4th round (127th overall).

Going back to the deals in question, these deals are for the other 31 teams in the league. The team who first offered the tender is stuck with the 1 year deal unless a team submits an offer during this phase. You can also offer them a long term deal later on in the offseason as well as any time during the pre, regular, and postseason, but what's important right now is that you understand that you can do nothing about your own RFAs at this moment.

If you do wish to submit an offer to an RFA from another team, the deal mentioned is not the exact deal that you have to offer them. You are free to mess with the years, total money, and/or guaranteed money. As a word of caution though, unless you are trying some bizarre psychological attack to where you offer a deal that would devastate a team financially but would be practically forced to accept, you will want to submit an offer that would ultimately net you the player you seek. Not only that, but you are in essence competing with 30 other teams for the right to simply sign an RFA. If you skimp out on any combination of years, total money, and guaranteed money, you are decreasing, sometimes substantially, the odds that you will get the player.

If you do submit a custom offer, use the base deal as a benchmark. Using Bears TE Trey Burton, he is asking for a 3 / $14.3 mil / $2.82 mil contract. Dividing the latter two figures by the years, you find out that he is asking for an average cap hit of $4.7 mil (14.3 / 3) and annual bonus of $940k mil (2.82 / 3).

I hope that everyone understands the slash line that I explained earlier in the topic, but if not, do not hesitate to ask any questions. You can direct them to me via PM, through the topic, or Discord.

Do not feel compelled to be active in this phase if you don't want to. While most users do not, several do as well as the AI, so it isn't as if nothing happens.

Before I started the second phase of RFA, I have another trade to announce

Falcons receive:
SS Lewis Baker (94 overall, 34 years old)

Bills receive:
Falcons 3rd round pick (83rd overall)
Falcons 7th round pick (211th overall)

Falcons will assume a $4.14 mil contract this season

Bills will incur a $1.52 mil cap penalty to shed a $4.90 mil cap hit

The Falcons after losing Thomas Davis to retirement needed a stud member of the secondary and decided that Baker was a much better option than a "flop 3rd round rookie."

The Bills with two other SSs on the roster, they decided they could move Baker to help their roster.

Both parties demonstrated that they understood the financial impact, the past history of Baker, and what each team hoped to achieve.

This trade is now official.
