Instead of taking your issue with the person speaking up about it, you SHOULD be taking your issue with the people who've systemically been pushing that group of people down for centuries, who put them in the situation where they have to speak up to get fair treatment.

If you don't like that people are speaking up about their rights, you should blame the people who denied them of those rights and caused the problem in the first place!

I can't speak on what it means to have black pride but I can speak about what it means to have gay pride. And I see the same kinds of stupid ignorant comments about gay pride as I see in post 5 about black pride. "It's stupid to have pride for something you were born as, you didn't accomplish anything" as if gay pride is just us going "look how GAY we are!!!! <3"

And I see people saying "then why isn't there a straight pride parade" or white pride month or something. Have you ever really considered WHY the concept of pride ever came to be? It didn't come out of thin air "just because we feel like it." It was a reaction to being demeaned and told that your worth is lesser or that you should be ashamed. Some people got tired of it and said "I'm not gonna put up with that. I'm not gonna let you determine my own self worth." --> Pride.

If I say "I have gay pride"

you can interpret it as "I refuse to accept the shame and self-rejection society has foisted on us for centuries; and instead I'll be happy about who I am"

Pride. You try to take us down but we refuse to let you. I bet black pride isn't exactly the same but probably pretty similar in many ways.

I'm not talking about news channels with youtube channels. I'm asking about youtubers specifically. The only one I'm familiar with is David Pakman but I get annoyed by how many times he mentions his sponsors.

It's disillusioning. I worked at a grocery store during the pandemic and I was in charge of "mask duty" for customers for a month in May. I've seen very clearly how many people prioritize their own comfort over the safety of others. And how so many people feel like they need to "defend their rights" and take a stand against masks. And some people who treated masks like they were shameful to wear.

It's different now because businesses have been "enforcing" masks for a few months. But I still see people who don't wear them.

It's disaffecting. I like living somewhere where people embrace individualism. But it's never been this clear before how America's embrace of individualism can backfire. I just want to hold people down, slap them, tell them to stop being a stupid selfish moron, and make them do what everybody else is doing.

If our government/leader were at least steering us in the right direction I think I'd feel a lot less disillusioned.

I guess the other things I can think of are with this guy who likes erotic wrestling. I like it too, but he's SUPER into it. He has a ton of wrestling gear and we put it on and go to town.

He also invited me to be in a photoshoot once where the theme was a weird fetish where people act as furniture. There was a photographer who had me acting as furniture while wearing a singlet (a chair or table or something) but while it was kink-related, it wasn't my kink, I did it because it was fun to be a part of a weird photoshoot.

I've been to some orgies/sex parties/circlejerks also but they aren't as really my thing.

IDK but I already have dual citizenship, so it's not a problem for me

If you don't already have citizenship there, I think you'd have to come in on a work visa or something. And IDK if they're even offering them to Americans right now. America is such a hot zone of corona that I think the visa process might not be very active toward americans now

ALSO Trump's rhetoric has emboldened bigots not just in america but around the world.

It's largely his fault the virus has run so rampant in our country, he had so much opportunity to do better and stem the spread of the virus. His attitudes have encouraged anti-intellectualism. People think science is somehow a force for evil and trump is facilitating that attitude. And his attitudes have exacerbated the anti-gay, misogynistic, racist conflicts around the country.

The right to not be discriminated against for being gay in the workplace is a good example. It was only implemented a few months ago (wtf) and now they can undo it because trump is adding a conservative crapper to the SC.

Four more years would mean four more years of conservative appointees deciding my rights aren't worth America's time.

Other than my (and other people's) rights I'm also worried about what he would do to the environment and wildlife. Trump simply doesn't care about that.

I always thought it was weird how they tried portraying DNA as irrelevant in their animal society when hunting other animals is literally scientifically inherent in predator DNA/instincts. It's just a messy analogy to use, because IRL there's no "aggression gene" and all the societal differences between human races are entirely socially imposed.

Though in the movie they kind of just gloss over the predatory instincts, they basically say "actually the predators are harmless now." And every species basically has the mind of a human. I guess all the animals are vegetarians now?

Anyway, people in Zootopia don't want to be called cute just because of what animal species they are.

Robert Trump was 3 years younger than Donald and died 1.5 months ago. They won't disclose what the cause of death was, so IDK whether it was coronavirus or something else. The stress of that loss must be compounding things for Trump during this election/illness. Apparently Robert was a huge fan of Donald.

I always thought Reddit was originally made for niche interest groups, catering mainly to techies. Not as a bastion of unregulated expression.

I honestly think the angle of "he just wants people to love him" is totally off. I highly doubt he gives a shit what his detractors think of him, he just has no problem shamelessly framing the dialog as much in his favor as possible. Which is a large reason why he's been as politically successful as he's been tbh.

He definitely cares a lot what people think about him, including (maybe especially) his detractors (ESPECIALLY Obama). But you're right that it's not "he wants people to love him"

It's more like

He wants people to respect him/be in awe of him. He wants to appear in charge and dominant and capable/powerful. He doesn't care as much whether you LIKE him, he only really cares whether you are IMPRESSED by him.
