But the caretaker should be discouraging this bad behavior. By laughing it off she's just telling him it's ok

Actually he can come up and start recording you in Wal Mart. There's no law against that. But Wal mart can also kick you out for doing that, if the managers of the store don't want you in there any more.

Usually there are no laws forcing you to blur people's faces, it's usually done "just in case" because it makes things easier. People are more careful about it when the video is being filmed for commercial purposes.

Also, Wal mart is private property but is considered a public space because it is made available to the public.

you don't need permission to film people in public areas. When in public you don't get to have privacy. This includes everybody, including cops.

For phone recordings, it depends on the state. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_call_recording_laws

TopicWhy has Nintendo developed this thing about rereleases? Mario and Pikmin.
Wetterdew
09/03/20 11:02:31 AM

The Pikmin and 3D world rereleases are mostly because Wii Us sold so badly. The efforts to put Wii U games on Switch are mostly because only a few million people bought Wii Us. I think it's a good idea although I agree that $60 is too much for these rereleases even with the new content.

The 3D collection is a different thing IMO. Yes most serious gamers have played those games already, but not for a long time. Galaxy 1 came out 13 years ago, Sunshine came out 18 years ago, and 64 came out 24 years ago with a remake that came out 16 years ago.

So it makes sense to put them out again, and if you're gonna put them out again it's nice that they're in HD and 16:9 now. Also, Sunshine and Galaxy couldn't just be ported, they'd need some handiwork.

That said I would still prefer an extensive virtual console over what they do now, choosing a handful of games to rerelease. Also I don't like that they are ignoring SMG 2

I'm thinking about it, too. I have dual citizenship so I could move to the UK if I wanted. The conservaitves here are just so goddamn stupid and selfish. they equate toxic masculinity with rugged individualism and act like wearing a mask is a liberal unconstitutional agenda and they're noble for refusing to wear one. I hate how backwards AMerican healthcare is and how our conservative-held government has been bungling such a critical response to a pandemic. I look at other countries' responses and it's night and day. And seeing so many morons tell me I don't deserve the right to marry or be protected from discriminatino in the workplace (and I know the UK has also got those people but still)

Another term of Trump would be disastrous not just for policies but also because it would mean another four years of time for his harmful views to permeate american culture. The social climate has changed drastically because people who share Trump's views have been emboldened. To the point where documented white supremacists are seeding their way into police forces (wtf?) Another four years would solidify this. Eight years is a lot of time for those opinions to take firm hold.

Just as bad, he's tarnishing american democracy. He treats his position so flippantly and is brazenly trying to cheat in the election whether by hiring foreign countries to manipulate the election/dig up dirt on his opponents by threatening to hold back support, or by abusing his presidential powers to limit who can vote. This should be UNTHINKABLE but he does it so brazenly that some people are starting to act like it's no big deal. On top of that there's the way he is just flat out rude and terrible to people, the awful things he's said about women and the ways he treats others; this is all being NORMALIZED and it's what kids growing up are seeing our president do. This is what they think of when they think of how an American president is. four more years means twice as long that he can normalize this behavior.

This is not even covering the shit policies he has changed and enacted in his term. four more years of bad decisions like giving industries permission to kill billions more wild birds per year, and appointing more awful old farts to positions of power who are only interested in inflating wealth for the people who are already wealthy.

Another term would be disastrous.

I just wish the UK hadn't stupidly left the EU.

They're literally bred to be healthy and athletic, they don't have the health problems inherent in a breed like german shepherds. and they are easygoing. And you can get one for a couple hundred dollars. No need to spend thousands.

I know it means you can configure more attacks to a single character but I don't think it's worth it. I also don't think it's necessary, I think controllers have enough buttons to give a character a versatile moveset. Games like SSB show me that you can stuff a character with plenty of variety in their moveset without assigning sequential directional input combinations to each one.

When adding more moves comes at the cost of making the controls so inconvenient, and seeing that there are enough buttons for us to be able to fit plenty of variety into a character's moveset as is, I'm not interested in getting more if it means requiring tedious inputs.

People who want to just press a button to do a combo shouldn't be playing fighting games. It takes skill to be good
You're right that it takes skill, but it's an unappealing kind of skill that turns off most people.

There are different categories of difficulty in games. a few examples:

-expecting you to react to/balance/multitask a bunch of things simultaneously
-strategic difficulty like chess
-demanding immediate reactions and familiarity with opponent patterns and environments
-demanding you to be able to read and outwit opponent players
-beefing up enemies so you have to either play really well or grind

Directional inputs are different from those, they're the type of difficulty that comes from intentionally making the controls more inconvenient, because only the people who really want to get good are going to bother overcoming those inconveniences.

It's such a tedious way of making the game harder. No thanks.

You're right that it takes skill to get good at them, and I can respect the people who take the time to learn them, but it's a skill I'm absolutely not interested in developing. I'd rather get good at a game whose challenge comes from something that doesn't involve making a simple input less convenient.

dude people say this shit like EVERY year

Remember when 2016 was the worst year ever?

I realize there is a pandemic going on right now but stop being over dramatic.
I hated how overdramatic people were being in 2016, mostly because of a number of beloved celebrity deaths.

That said, 2020 genuinely IS an awful year, especially in america. The pandemic is huge, it's a massive cultural shift and it has destroyed many businesses and set the world into a depressive state. Entertainment ground to a stop, and we entered a state where it became stressful just to be around other people. The virus has also ignited a lot of conflict and strife. It's exposed many of the worst failings of the american system, from its awful healthcare and government support to the failings of americans' rugged individualism.

OK so that alone would be enough to make 2020 awful, but on top of that we also have had
-Major and horrifyingly violent conflicts over police brutality and racism
-Massive fires in Australia that killed so many animals and destroyed so much land
-A looming and exhausting election that has proven itself to be even more caustic than the 2016 one, and is going to get worse.
-Plus miscellaneous other pockets of stress like the conflict with Iran in january, or the devastation from hurricane Laura. Then the usual smattering of high-profile celebrity deaths as well.
-The efforts by our own president to undermine our country's democracy, and the increasing fervor and devotion of his fanbase.

So yes 2020 is a genuinely awful year and it's not being overdramatic.
