I live in Cape Coral, which is right next door to Fort Myers in southwestern Florida. Back in '96, a teen militia group formed in Ft. Myers, they called themselves the Lords of Chaos. Ended up murdering a music teacher from one of the high schools.

Anytime I've mentioned it to people, they are dumbfounded. Like no one's heard about it.

another mindtrap classic and actually somewhat easier than Q1

Riddle 2 solution:

Ask guard 1 "Where will guard 2 tell me to go to reach salvation?". Wherever he says go, go the different way.

If you ask the truther, he will tell you truthfully that the (liar) will point you down the wrong path. So go the other way
If you ask the liar, he will lie and claim the truther will try to send you down the wrong path. So go the other way.

Correct, but you can actually simplify it even more. Instead of asking about reaching salvation, ask "where will the other guard tell me to go to reach Hell?" Then whatever path they point to, go there.

Yeah it kinda sucks because now to be accurate you'd have to specify "incandescent light bulbs" which gives a huge hint as to the answer.

Something about heat with the first one, I'm guessing. Let one stay on for a while, another for a little, and the other not at all. You can tell from how hot they are.

Pretty much. You flip one of the switches on and leave it on. Another switch you flip on and leave it on for a few minutes. The third switch you don't touch at all. As soon as you turn the second switch off after a few minutes, open the door and enter the room. One light will be on, one light will be off and cool to the touch, and one light will be off but still warm to the touch.

The second one I've heard before and is super easy. The first one I'm not sure, so I'll take a stab- the door has a clear window in it?

The second one is only easy, IMO, once you've heard it. Which sounds obvious. But to a first-time listener, I've never had anyone figure it out before.

Anyway, there is no window.

These are legitimate riddles. The first is pretty tricky, the second one is borderline insane.
If you have already encountered one or both of these before, please do NOT spoil anything.

Riddle #1: "The Light Switches"
You are standing in front of a door. On the wall is a panel with three light switches. You are told that the door leads to an enclosed room with three light bulbs. Each light switch controls only one of those bulbs, but you do not know which switch controls which bulb. All three switches are currently OFF. You can flip the switches any way you want, but once the door is opened and you enter the room with the three light bulbs, you cannot do anything else with the switches. Your task is to figure out how to determine, to an absolute certainty, which switch controls which light. In other words, you must definitively demonstrate--for all three switches--which of the three light bulbs that switch operates.

Riddle #2: "The Ultimate Question"
You are walking through mystical woods one day, when you come to a fork in the road. One path leads to eternal damnation, the other path leads to paradise. Which path is which? You don't know. However, there is a guard standing at the entrance of each path. The only thing you know for certain, is that one of the guards always lies, while the other guard always tells the truth. The problem is, you don't know which guard is which, you can't tell the liar from the truth-teller. So, you don't know which path is which, and you don't know which guard is which. Now here is your task: you must conjure up one question, that you can ask to only one guard, one time -- a question formulated in such a way that it eliminates any ambiguity and lets you know to a certainty, which path to take to reach paradise. What is the question?

Those that drink alcohol in moderate amounts outlive those that do not drink at all. My speculation on this is that the people that know their alcohol intake limits also tend to monitor what food(s) go into their bodies compared to those that do not drink and those that drink heavily.

Or those that drink in moderation reduce the levels of stress they experience, and this reduction in stress allows them to live longer versus teetotalers who experience the full brunt of whatever stressors are present in their life.

That and the Emmett Till murder should always be taught and reminded.

It angers me so much that bitch lied about Emmett Till harassing her which led to that tragedy which she only admitted once she was basically on her deathbed.

With Stinney, I'm pretty sure they made a movie about it. The actor who plays as Stinney in his last moments sticks in my mind.

I agree, unfortunately cases like this need to be taught not only for educational purposes but also to solemnly silence those who think movements like BLM arose for no reason. Sure these things aren't necessarily happen today, but there are people living today who would prefer things like this were still the norm.

I would also include the two teens that were hanged, I think their names were Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith? The pic is online. It's very disturbing.

A city would not be a real planet, but yes, a city would be a "real planet" because the quotation marks indicate it doesn't have to be literal.

That's the problem with riddles like this. The ambiguity means there are several possible responses and not one definite solution that pure ratiocination can allow you to deduce.

Drinking, assuming you mean alcohol. Eating too much can be uncomfortable, cause pain and nausea.

But drinking too much is horrible, especially if you do not prepare for a hangover. I'm at the point now where I know I'll have a hangover the next day, so I intentionally go into the bathroom, finger down the throat, making myself puke, and drink tons of water and try to eat something, so I'm not a horrible sack of shit the next day.

George Stinney. He was accused and convicted of murdering two younger girls. In 2014, seventy years after the fact, it was determined that he had received an unfair trial.

Standing 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighing just over 90 lbs, Stinney was executed on June 16, 1944, at 7:30 p.m. He was prepared for execution by electric chair, using a Bible as a booster seat because Stinney was too small for the chair.[15] He was then restrained by his arms, legs, and body to the chair. The executioner placed the face mask over his face, which did not fit him. When the lethal electricity was applied, the mask covering slipped off, revealing tears streaming down Stinney's face.[15][16] He was buried in an unmarked grave in Crowley.[17]

Aside from acquiring knowledge, are there any "skills" or physical activities that you invest in?

I am a fairly serious gymgoer. The ultimate underlying reason for that is because my body is the vessel for my mind, so the healthier I keep my body, the longer I live, and the more time I have to learn.

Concomitant to that, I also appreciate the discipline required to succeed well in this venture, as well as the aesthetic benefits.

And when it's not entertaining, I can leave. As long as you're a good guest, the rest is semantics. Once I learned that, all the stress of being around people melted away. But maybe that's not your case.

I probably do suffer from the errant assumption that people are judging me or paying attention to me more than they actually are.

God is real phenomenonologically, as a higher power present within the worldview of the minds of believers. In an objective sense, ontologically speaking, there is no evidence for the existence of God.

So the split really comes down to whether or not one believes. For those who believe, no explanation is needed. For those who do not believe, no explanation will suffice. This is where religiosity bifurcates. The intersection of reason and faith.

Emotionally and spiritually, this is true for me. Intellectually, however, no. I love learning things. That keeps me going.

As far as being dead on the inside, that actually is the reason I will never commit suicide. If I'm already dead on the inside (i.e., I no longer care about that which was troubling me that may otherwise persuade me to kill myself), then what's the point of suicide? It would be redundant.

May as well continue living and acquire as much knowledge as I can since that's what I care about.

That's pretty cool, but that (original) game is always one I want to like more than I actually do. It's not bad at all, but a couple of design issues keep it from being an all time great. I play it with a friend or my gf every year around Halloween and it's usually good for a couple of levels before we're ready to move on.

Someone made a hack called Oh No! More Zombies Ate My Neighbors that you can actually order on a real SNES cartridge (I have one). Every level is completely new and redesigned, and they modified and changed some of the design elements. For instance, you can now scroll backwards through your weapons and items inventory, rather than having to scroll through everything if you happen to skip past what you want accidentally.

A new weapon is introduced (bananas), which are basically as powerful as tomatoes and popsicles. Some soda machines will actually chuck soda can grenades at you (a la Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive), and if you blow them up with a bazooka blast it'll drop a soda can pick-up you can nab for some soda grenade ammo. Also, when you begin the game, your weapon and item (and quantity of each) are randomized.
