Emotionally and spiritually, this is true for me. Intellectually, however, no. I love learning things. That keeps me going.

As far as being dead on the inside, that actually is the reason I will never commit suicide. If I'm already dead on the inside (i.e., I no longer care about that which was troubling me that may otherwise persuade me to kill myself), then what's the point of suicide? It would be redundant.

May as well continue living and acquire as much knowledge as I can since that's what I care about.

Covid-19 and the political state of affairs in the US has been great for my dark sense of humor.

I find myself smiling and laughing to myself more these days.

Quarantine has also been great for my hobbies.

I think I'm the opposite. I'm a loner, so whenever I'm with family and friends, I inevitably desire to go back to being by myself.

That is magnanimous of you. Personally, I am quite alright. I became accustomed to a loner's life many years ago. As long as I have access to knowledge, I am happy. Whether that's through the Internet, my flash card program, books, what have ya. I also have family, and I put a smile on for them because that's my duty as family.

I was like that when I had social anxiety/intrusive insecurities and being around people felt like work. Now I don't give a shit and everything is either entertaining or not entertaining. And when it's not entertaining, I can leave. As long as you're a good guest, the rest is semantics. Once I learned that, all the stress of being around people melted away. But maybe that's not your case.

It sucks. Makes stuff that should be simple, super complicated. But once you realize, pretty much everyone is in their head just as you are. You realize...oh shit, they're not thinking about me, they're thinking about themselves. Once I figured that out, pretty much all future evidence supported it and I started realizing all the little things I stopped overcomplicating effected absolutely nothing.

It's very rare now that I say something abd I walk away beating myself up about it. It has to be extremely stupid these days.

I am a fairly serious gymgoer. The ultimate underlying reason for that is because my body is the vessel for my mind, so the healthier I keep my body, the longer I live, and the more time I have to learn.

Concomitant to that, I also appreciate the discipline required to succeed well in this venture, as well as the aesthetic benefits.

Im not going to disagree about the path of the world as a whole, but there are things you can do to make it just a little better, even if its taking place on a very small scale. You still have the opportunity to leave a unique legacy, and even though no one can come out of life with the same experience, youre never truly alone; other people have similar struggles, and someone has discovered a way out. As long as you focus on bettering yourself, and you set goals along the way, it is possible. Youve still got at least half your life ahead of you (one would assume)

Hey, I remember that picture! But yeah, little things really do make a real difference. As long as it makes you happy, and its not hurting anyone (including yourself) go ahead and act on those impulses. They might just get you through another day.

Im just saying that Ive been to some pretty dark places, and it took me 27 years before I really figured myself out. Im 30 now and Im STILL working to get where Id like to be, but Im in a much, much better place now than I was back then.

Ya, I'm not out to hurt anyone. In fact, I've become amazed at how laid back I am.
But ya, I keep reminding myself that I am in fact in a better place than I was this time last year, and it helps. ((I haven't barfed in a Jakebox night in a while...and that was earlier this year.))

I'm just hoping this winter isn't too long.
But for now, I am just waiting for 'the holidays' to be over.

So you already associate mind and body. All that's missing is acknowledging the combination of the two as "spirit".

For me, spiritualism is the recognition and understanding of (not only the universe but) oneself. If we claim to be "higher beings", then stagnation in ability and skill is no way to exhibit that.

For many, the hurdle starts in the physical - yet, it is (truly) just a reflection of one's mentality. Since you have the intellect, you've invested in your body to reflect your mind. Nobody can read your mind, but they can read your body (language).

But now that you have achieved (I'm assuming) a pleasing aesthetic, the next step would be to achieve (better) function.

Just because you "look good", doesn't mean you: have proper motor functions, can defend yourself physically, or practice a healthy diet.

If you truly love learning things, then you owe it to yourself to never be complacent with what you currently know. There is always something new to learn and practice.

"Learning" creates knowledge. Connecting that knowledge forms and shapes "experience". And consistent experience(s) results in "wisdom". Nothing is to be isolated. Everything has purpose.

The smallest, seemingly insignificant instances in the past are what determine one's personality. Remember what influenced you to be who you are today - that is (true) meditation.

A personal example: I used to slouch a lot, but by being aware of it, I'd realized (after a year of consistent attempts to correct it) that the problem was my (learned) posture. Nobody taught me how to stand upright, and I always assumed that my posture was... optimal. But whenever I walked beside strangers, I'd noticed that they covered more distance than I did, despite being of same height and with equivalent walking speed. (Yes, I was the guy that observed other people.) I wondered, "How (and why) can people cover more distance, but at the same time, walk with a slower pace (than I)?" This question would go unanswered for, like, 10 years.

Now, after investing mind and body towards martial arts, I learned that it has to do with one's center of gravity. When I first conceived that question, my posture was perpetually leaned forward, and my center of gravity was always in front of me, whilst those who covered more distance (than I) had their center of gravity right at their hips. While they walked properly, I was always catching myself from falling forward, and because of that, I would never utilize my legs' full range of motion - which is achieved by pushing off your toes after your legs are behind you. If I had used the full range of motion with my posture leaning forward, I'd look like I was lunging (lol).

After this epiphany, I understood anatomy a little more, and utilized that attained knowledge to optimize walking, as well as striking for combat.

By investing in the most minute of details, the bigger picture becomes clearer. Hope this did something.

I love spicy food... actually, I guess my initial post was somewhat wrong. I love eating and feel a little better when I do it, but I also have the crippling fear of gaining a ton of weight. I despise exercise and can't find any joy in anything but eating, and so it leads to me habitually purging. Sometimes multiple times a day.

It's a lot harder to help someone move when they're just goin' limp in your arms, but I'd still be willing to try. It's all about starting with the smallest things and working towards an achievable goal; something you're sure you COULD do with a little motivation and effort. You can't aim too high and let yourself get overwhelmed right away or it'll swallow you whole.

We'll be here for ya.

The reason you believe to be "too much" for people may be because of whom you opened up to. Chances are: they didn't want to help, didn't know how to help, and were even struggling with the same dilemma as you.
