Nowhere in programming will you see Width and Length, and nowhere in programming will you ever see width = the shorter side. Because those definitions are inherently confusing and useless. It doesn't make sense to define the width as the shortest side, then the reference would change as the rectangle changes size, or as you compare different rectangles. Compare the Width of this shape [] and this shape . There's no utility there. With this definition you can never compare the width of a longer and shorter side. It doesn't make sense to define it as the y size as width with x size being length, because both of those are used to reference things that are horizontally measured, with width being exclusively horizontal. You can do it the nonsensical way if you enjoy doing things the nonsensical way. Even Quora is going by the dictionary definition... a standard that follows subjectively instead of objectively setting the standard, as it should be in math. No support for Nintendo Switch, but you can get around that. It's not that complicated and I think you should give it a shot. Porting an entire flash engine is a moderate task that doesn't sound very fun, so what you could do is port your game to Unity, an engine that supports building to Nintendo Switch (Or Xbox, or PS4, or anything relevant really) Start by; Build your game for flash Use this plugin for Unity to run your game in Unity https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/animation/gaf-free-flash-to-unity-13593 (This plugin does look like it only works on older builds of Unity, and IDK if older builds will build as easily to the Nintendo Switch) Gauge how well the game runs. Will this run well enough on Nintendo Switch hardware? 60 fps? No latency? If not you can look at other options such as running it as HTML5 in Unity, which could be as simple as finding a browser plugin for Unity. Once it's building for unity, and at a reasonable performance, you can get a Switch devkit and easily build it for the Nintendo Switch. And message me/reply if you need help.
