I second this but then again there was legend of zelda 2 which was the definitive zelda experience next to gamaelon on 3do

I think most of the mega man games have held up well over time.

On the flip side, i dont think too many of the original big RPGs have held up that well. The original final fantasy and Dragon Warrior are such horrible slogs to play through nowadays. Even the revamped version for PSP or GBA of Final Fantasy is just a bore. Final Fantasy didnt start having lasting power until #3.

Super Mario Bros 3 is the best answer.

Punch Out and Kirby's Adventure are also still great. Almost all other NES games have aged very, very poorly.

You say that sarcastically, but Zelda 2 was actually a pretty good game. The only reason people shat on it at the time was because it wasn't just a straight clone of Zelda 1, but an entirely new style of game.

Personally, I kind of prefer Zelda 2 over Zelda 1.

To be fair it did lay the groundwork to make the platforming sections in future zelda games like links awakening. So yeah I see your point. Its may drawback was that it was too far ahead of its time. It suffered from a lack of power that the nintendo had. If they had released a super metroid like game for zelds 2 as in better graphics and more responsive controls it would hve been more successful with the critics

Zelda 2 is still fun, but maybe just because it was part of my childhood. (On the GBA, one of the best games I had once I learned how to play)

I wouldn't touch Zelda 1 and never have.
