This was is why I originally wasn't sure whether he should count or not tbh.

I don't really get the Hisoka love much. He probably doesn't even make my top 3 Hunter x Hunter villains, much less top 3 anime villains of the decade. He's entertaining sometimes, but I just don't see him as a defining feature of the show or a highlight. I guess I like the Chimera Ant arc significantly more than anything else in the series and he's a bit sidelined for that, so maybe that's why?

Very pleasantly surprised that Squealer made the list. (From the New World spoilers) Love his trial at the end of the anime so much.

Violet Evergarden is the only new Kyo Ani show I liked! Well, until the ending which I absolutely despised so I still have mixed feelings overall.

I also like Hyouka which was from this decade but for some (probably arbitrary) reason I think of it as an "old" Kyo Ani show, whatever that means.

Madhouse was the only studio that was remotely consistent for me and even then they only had like a 2/3 hit rate for me. (Well, I guess there's TROYCA but I'm not counting them since I only saw 2 of their shows)

Kyo Ani just hasn't been great in the 2010's outside of A Silent Voice, at least not for me. Not even a "not enough space in the submissions" issue, I just think they aren't a good studio anymore.

My #1 was Madhouse by a landslide. Sora Yori, The Tatami Galaxy, Chihayafuru, Hunter x Hunter, NGNL (mostly care about the movie here), Death Parade...

Also they've got 3 very popular shows that I either didn't watch or didn't care for in Overlord, One Punch Man, and Ore Monogatari.

Hardest to fill out in category A was best comedy, since I just don't like comedies as much as serious shows and had to reach into shows that I didn't really find quite deserving of "anime of the decade status"

The ones I wanted more options for were best couple, best cast, and best film. (The latter was an extremely easy choice for the top 3 for me so it wasn't hard in that sense, but there's other films I wanted to give recognition to also)

Talking about costumes in Tales of Berseria made me remember that cowboy hat Rokurou is not canon and now I'm sad.

Anyway I think Vesperia is probably the closest to what you're looking for, out of the four games in the series I've played. (Symphonia, Abyss, Vesperia, Berseria)

Audiences at anime movies can be a bit of a diceroll. Most of the time they are good in my experience but there are exceptions. Surprising that happened at an original movie though, the rowdier audiences tend to happen at movies that are part of existing franchises in my experience.

Don't really have much to add in terms of recommendations, but I guess I'll say The Garden of Words because it's also a Shinkai movie and is probably my favorite by him.

It was sort of hard to follow this so I might be wrong, but my understanding is that unlike most anime movies this was getting a normal theatrical run, in addition to some type of special showings tonight and tomorrow which were announced well in advance.

Yeah this happened to me about a year ago and it was miserable. Was at the wedding of one of my high school friends, but the other people from our high school friend group that he invited couldn't make it so I knew literally no one.

I'm glad I went because I consider that person a good friend, but it definitely was not the most fun night of my life.

If the administration reached a decision through careful analysis and deliberation and correctly came to the conclusion that this course of action would reduce violence and increase stability in the region, then yes I would say it was a good idea.

I don't have the energy to write a full response here but this is just not the analysis mode I'm using in this issue. It doesn't matter how many lives they take of ours or we take of theirs--the action I'm going to advocate for is the one that I believe minimizes casualty.

Mostly in situations like this it involves making some kind of active response, but I only see this having value as a deterrent toward future aggression from the opposing party--I don't care about getting back at them just to make ourselves feel good or that things were "fair" or whatever.

I mean I obviously think it's a disproportionate response. We shouldn't do nothing, but there are ways of responding that don't involve assassinating a high-ranking government official (economic/diplomatic sanctions)

To clarify, I'm not necessarily saying that Iran's response was justified either. I think you could reasonably make the case that it was a proportionate response, but on some level I also believe that what they "should" have done was respond in some way with the intent of de-escalating the situation.

Granted maybe drawing a line in the sand ("we will not go further unless you do X") is there attempt at that. I don't know.
