I literally just explained how there is no accountability with a union in place.

A vast majority of their job description is to fight tooth and nail to remove accountability from officers. And that is something we, the tax payer, fund. We are funding an organization to make sure that officers can continue to abuse their power and get away with it using whatever they have to. The police union is the reason that officer had 15 complaints and kept his badge.

You can add an oversight committee, but guess what happens? Police unions continue to do everything they possibly can to remove accountability from that officer. That's their job. This isn't like any other labor union that will try to keep your job due to unfairness in the workplace. They try to keep your job after you have complaints about you abusing your power.

You need to get rid of police unions. Everything they do isn't bad, but this all hinges on them. You want to replace them? Fine. But they cannot be involved in complaints at all. It has to be completely out of their hands. And as far as unions go, that also doesn't necessarily work because they are supposed to have the worker's interests in mind.

A union doesn't work for police. It just doesn't.
This is the same for basically every union. Some are weaker or stronger than others, but the general gist is to protect employees from punishment at all costs. Even if you know they are a bad employee.

Corrik, people want to fix economic disparity by taking money from the police and using it to invest in those impoverished communities.
Which is dumb. Money from the police is money sent to protect that neighborhood from crime. Tax the poor less. Tax the rich more. And building a bridge to get the poor to higher paying jobs. There is a stranglehood on wealth in this country. It's not the rich's fault. Why shouldn't they amass what they can if they can under the system. The problem is government pandering to the rich. The problem is being in the government makes you rich and one of them also.

Some people grow up in crime around them. Want to be criminals. Want that life. The goal is to get everyone economically in a situation in the next generation where people don't have to grow up in neighborhoods like that. If you want less police, you need to end the disparity. The less and less the lower class is so far apart from the rest, crime will naturally dissipate some on its own leading to less police needed. (crime will always exist, and you will always need cops. But, if you can eliminate economically impoverished areas you can eliminate some crime.)

The problem is when you make it all about race, you are missing the whole point. Economically impoverished of ALL Races need the disparity taken away.

The correct take is actually that it is all 4 of those things, Corrik.
I think the correct take is the root. The root is economic disparity. And, I think a lot of you sip the kool-aid from the media to not see it like rich people don't want you to see it.

Just like the dude on Twitter who was like Yeah, riot! Burn it all down! Then when it was a gated community next to his being attacked, he was like... NOOOO what are you doing not my neighborhood go back to your own neighborhoods!

The rich people are the ones fueling it. The celebrities, media, politicians, etc. This doesn't affect them. Lockdowns... you think those affected them either? They are sitting in million dollar abodes not giving a shit about any of this around us. Fueling the flames. I am not saying they are purposely doing it, but the moment the real root is seen and it's a riot against the rich... all those voices would be changing their tune super quick.

was there some kind of one family per beach rule? I assumed were talking about a beach other people are going to also which would be crowded, not some rich family going to their private beach.
Police were enforcing 6 feet apart per family in sitting spots. Typically people don't sit in water together either and spread in water is non-existent to my knowledge.

The police thing is a red herring. Police have more confrontations with minority for crime and violent crime per population than they do Whites... thus there is more deaths for minorities per population than whites also due to police. That is pretty cleanly seen in stats.

The question is why do minorities have this greater share of crime creating more interaction with police which causes this? And, this is why the media keeps you caught on the chain about police brutality instead of the bigger picture.

Crime is disproportionately caused by the poor. The poorer the neighborhood you are in, the more crime around it there will be. This is pretty much true everywhere. Minorities that have more interaction with the police are minorities that are in particular poorer subsets of the society.

The answer isn't defunding police. The answer is fixing economic disparity. And, when Whites can't understand white privilege, it is because they are usually whites from the same boat in poor households. They struggled their whole life too, were brought up in the same conditions, and etc.

It's not White Privilege. It's not Police Brutality. It's not systemic Racism. It's class disparity.

oh i totally agree on that aspect. the feds not helping will just end up hurting them. ironically, police will be defunded after all, in every state, because every department is going to see big number and decide "we cut there."

like in that budget right there, on page 8, you've got a basic summary point to start with:

$3.7 billion is spent on full time salaries.
$725 million on OT
$575 million on additional gross pay
$130 million on benefits + unsalaried

...and the combined aspects of various services, charges, supplies & materials, and property & equipment rounds out to around $600 million, the last two categories $176 million at that. ...and that's the full budget. is there a problem with OT being higher than literally everything else, of course. but it's wages that are gonna get wrecked quick.
If you don't wanna pay OT then stop having crime and riots to make them. We had people cheering making cops working 44 hours a week OT just a few topics ago. Newsflash. You making the cops rich and you are paying the bill. Lol.

Corrik, if we body cammed every Officer, would you be okay with having an independent third party office, otherwise unaffiliated with police, on call to review any footage where there is use of force or where a complaint is lodged?

They would also have the authority to discipline officers as necessary without oversight from the police, and the ability to consult with prosecutors about anything that needs to go to court

Because if you go all in on accountability, you have to take that accountability completely out of the hands of police departments themselves. No more investigating your own officers and never finding anything wrong.
You are literally suggesting my idea from like 2 topics ago.

I said give police more funding. Have body cams on all police. Have a community group from the neighborhood that can volunteer to watch the feeds and write down notes of things they wished to discuss from a standpoint of what they feel wasn't done right or not.

At the very least, the people who are reviewing things can see just how much the police do a good job most of the time instead of only hearing about them when mistakes happen. And, maybe when seeing the things they can deal with daily, have another understanding of things.

It works two fold.

Why would a backup persistent role be any less believable than a backup godfather?
I mean yes Sultan should have saved the doctor, but you should have spent more than a second of thought on the final day.
Even if I hadnt been mislynched first you would have cost us the game since you would have voted me before I could even wake up.

But I will agree that Bens role is stupidly overpowered.
Cuz the role that died first was godfather ninja? Why would I assume the 4th mafia killeds power would replicate. Lol. Backup usually takes the first.

Most games have rules that say repeated moves up to 3 times is a draw.

For example, in pool league if I can't make my shot without freeing the 8 for him or knocking it in. I choose to give up my turn. He can't hit his 8 without scratching or opening me up. He hands it back. If I hand it back again, it's a draw.

Chess has a similar rule. I assume mafia would be no kill - no lynch - no kill would be a stalemate also.

That doesn't answer my question as to why you tried to redirect him, when the plan was to predict him and lynch him.
Because the plan again... for the second time... was predicated on Plum not knowing my role actually existed.

It would be like you saying... PLUM SAID HE WAS SCUM AND TO PREDICT AND LYNCH HIM... (which means to predict him so if you are WRONG Chang has a roleblock (which means Plum isn't sure Ben is scum). Then being mad if someone confirmed Ben scum.

Nobody in this game would have lynched Ben that day if they were my role and they redirected him and a NK happened elsewhere. If you are saying otherwise, you are 20/20 hindsighting. The questioning was... whether I was lying about my role or not. Which I wasn't.
