Xenoblade > KH3 feels right here. Super Mario 3D World by all rights should absolutely bomb as a Wii U exclusive, even if KH3 wasn't as well received as it could have been it's just gonna have more fans here, period.

those 2010-2011 single player games feel like they belong to the previous decade. Portal 2, AC Brotherhood, Arkham City, even Bioshock Infinite feel like they belong in 2008-2009. they might do pretty well because they feel almost nostalgic but they also just feel kinda forgotten.

I think some games were able to get in with only one nomination, probably. I've looked over the list and honestly I'm having a hard time thinking of a snub.

And yeah, 3-4 is such a fantastic case. It's short and sweet. It's probably the least silly case in the entire franchise, in a good way - it takes itself seriously and really executes the whole flashback idea incredibly well. One of the things I love about it most is just the general sense of dread you get playing it - you KNOW that Mia didn't win her first case, and you KNOW that Edgeworth has "never lost a case" up to the point you meet him in AA1, so without the game ever even mentioning either of these facts I just immediately got the feeling that this wasn't going to end well, and I don't know if they intentionally used Edgeworth to punctuate that point but it worked perfectly. It's really impressive that they managed to make Edgeworth's appearance here not seem like fanservice and actually seem important, too.

Was there ever a point before this at which Mia could have recognized Edgeworth? It would have had to have been in 1-3 or 2-4, since they never appear together any other time, but I don't think there's any big indication that Mia would have ever been like "oh hey, Edgeworth, I know that guy!"

I admit Phoenix and Grossberg not recognizing each other is a little weirder, but Grossberg is a minor enough character that who cares

Yeah, I absolutely love what they did to Young Edgeworth's sprite. The way they both redrew his face to make him look younger and gave him mannerisms that are more like von Karma's was brilliant, it comes across so well.

Any result other than BotW > Ultimate would be a really huge surprise to me, short of them being placed on the same side of the bracket. I don't think anything that isn't BotW can compete with Ultimate

RDR over Galaxy 2 might happen though, I wouldn't be too surprised

I must be lower on Galaxy 2 than others. its a late Wii game thats done pretty poorly in every poll its been in. I have no issues with taking it to win this pack because Nintendo but Im surprised at the near unanimous consensus. I guess its the safe pick though.

I agree with this to an extent but I think Galaxy 2 enjoys a prestigious reputation and Fallout 4 is too maligned/Fallout is in a weird place these days

I think SMG2 absolutely slams Fallout 4 into a dumpster, but I'm not sure how the rest plays out

If you make an exception for League because "It only really took off later" then you'd have to make an exception for every other game like that.

I actually think you SHOULD make an exception here because it's basically 99% a game of the 10's, and nobody would have considered it for a 00's contest

I think ongoing games that are borderline like this need to be handled as case-by-case exceptions. In this case, there really isn't any other notable game that people would nominate that runs into this problem.

Outside of Athena, the 5th game actually has some pretty bad models and animations. Then for the 6th game, it's like they suddenly flipped some kind of switch, because basically all the models and animations in that game are incredible.

I think the way things concluded with FFXV (with Tabata being let go and the last two DLC episodes just being outright canceled) left a soured impression on the game overall, even among people like me who actually enjoyed it. I don't expect much of it, even though I nominated it.

I haven't played FFXV but this was my takeaway as well - I felt like people had a really bad taste in their mouth with how FFXV didn't ultimately live up to initial promises of what it was going to be and that's going to hurt it a lot

AA3's soundtrack is the best except for the fact that they use AA2's investigation core (engarde reveal theme) too much and they should have gotten a new song

Interestingly enough, the list of characters with a sprite who don't testify or have a psyche lock is still short. Winston Payne, Marvin Grossberg, Penny Nichols, Manfred von Karma, Franziska von Karma, Turner Grey, Director Hotti, Max Galactica, Regina Berry, Godot, Desiree DeLite, Elise Deauxnim, and both Judges. Both von Karmas and the Judge get covered in the Edgeworth games, Grey and Deauxnim are victims, and Desiree does appear at the witness stand, though no testifying. You still missed Regina Berry as an answer to "someone who does not play a role in court or have a psyche-lock."

I mean, I'm pretty used to huddling up under some blankets in basements where it can get as cold as the 50's, but 45 is insane, that's almost cold enough to see your breath

I sort of like Steyer since he seems to be fairly legit about environmental stuff (he lobbied hard against the keystone pipeline for instance) and he's overall probably more progressive than anyone aside from Sanders/Warren but the fact that he's buying his way into having a brand in the presidential race pisses me off, I don't want a hedge fund manager to be president, even if he has done some reasonably good philanthropic work and political activism. I don't trust him to know what he's doing with regards to things like foreign policy and I don't trust him to actually be in touch with the poor, even the most modestly-living billionaire leads a different life than we do

Yeah, it's a pretty straightforward investigation day. Actually, 3-2 has one of my biggest "why are Phoenix and Maya so dumb" moments with the urn and the box. Like, it's blatantly obvious even on day 1 what happened, and yet it's the very last thing you solve on day 2.

Every playthrough of 3-2 I end up checking the damn box with the paint on it like 5 times before I end up being able to use it

Ahhhh, that makes perfect sense, thank you. So you have to collect the number of things that would be required in a normal 100%, but you don't need to collect them from their intended locations.
