Pretty much. If you like the work you're doing and the people you work with, what's not to like? By the sound of things, you just have some fundamental dislike of the idea of somebody else dictating your responsibilities, but if those responsibilities are things you like doing anyway, there's really no reason to object.

I would agree with you if the "virus" wasn't heavily politicized

This has nothing to do with how politicized the issue is (not that there's any way to deal with a pandemic on this scale without politicizing it, given that managing it requires political action). It has to do with the fact that it's airborne, extremely easily transmitted, can be transmitted by asymptomatic people, and all of these risk factors can be mitigated to some extent or another by having as many people as possible wear masks. The media and politicians can do whatever they want, but common sense will still dictate that wearing a mask is a good idea (provided it doesn't interfere with the supply for the medical professionals that are at highest risk, which homemade options do not).

Your entire position on this seems to be "the media and politicians say this is a big deal so I'm going to believe that it is not because I'm so smart," with no actual basis given for that position or even a concrete idea of what that position entails. That's not an informed, enlightened, or even basically sensible position, despite how you insist on acting. A little less intellectual masturbation and a little more basic common sense.

I have no idea why people get so angry when others simply try to shake them awake. I like asking questions.

People generally get annoyed by people saying stupid things while insulting their intelligence for not believing said stupidity. A mask of any sort is considerably more effective for slowing or preventing the transmission of a droplet-borne virus than a chain fence would be for stopping mosquitoes. It's far from perfect protection, obviously, especially where the eyes are such a significant route of infection (tear ducts are a direct line to the nasal passages, though that's significantly more relevant for catching it than transmitting it), but it's a non-trivial difference that requires a trivial amount of effort. Basic risk analysis therefore dictates that it's a good idea.

I'd still want to see somebody vouching for them having enough driving practice to deserve a license, preferably somebody credible who incurred some kind of personal risk by giving that recommendation, but there is a legitimate argument to be made that formal driving tests aren't altogether necessary.

The concept of "cookiing" is a continuous one, not a discrete one. "Cooked" and "raw" are purely comparative terms with no absolute meanings. Something that has been cooked more is less raw, and vice versa. Typically, when used without explicitly declaring an alternative to which it is being compared, the terms refer to whether or not the food has been cooked to the degree that the speaker considers ideal, which is often subjective and prone to contextual variation. The only universal interpretation you'll find there is that cooking something less than is needed to make it safe for human consumption is undercooking it, and even then there's a sizable degree of variance in how people define "safe" due to variance in what people consider to be acceptable risk (example: stuffing a roast turkey with bread and then eating said stuffing).

Helly, your attempts to make absolute declarations on what constitute "cooked" and "raw" are foolish and inconsistent with what the words actually mean, to say nothing of how absurd it is that you would try to make such sweeping generalizations about something that varies so much from context to context. You are wrong in a way that shows you understand very little about cooking as a whole. For all you cite him, Alton Brown would be ashamed of you.

All things that make me use better designed sites and not theirs.

The fact that your definition for "better designed sites" is "sites that let me use less secure passwords" is really very questionable.

DPsx7 posted...
I'm not creating bizarre PW's because they developed a crappy site.

Really, just tack something like "L:" onto the end of whatever password you'd normally use and you'll satisfy their requirements. You can do the same thing for every such password and not have to remember anything extra. It's really not the big deal you're making it out to be.

DPsx7 posted...
You can make strong PW's without all the fluff.

You can, and it is kind of annoying that so many sites prioritize character variety over password length. You can get a much stronger password that's easier for the user to remember (and therefore less likely to be written down somewhere else) by simply using words (preferably with irregular caps or spacing to throw off dictionary-based password crackers) instead of requiring different character types. Again, going by the site linked earlier, a typical desktop computer is capable of cracking the standard minimum of 8 alphanumeric characters (upper/lower case plus symbols) in about 9 hours. Just the word "alphanumeric," however, takes about 4 weeks, which can be upped to 700 years by hyphenating it (grammatically inappropriate, but still easy to remember and breaks dictionary searches), or 434 thousand years by capitalizing the last letter (also easy to remember), and that comes entirely from its length. Password strength increases exponentially for each additional character included, which is why increasing from 8 complex characters to 12 simple ones has such an effect.

That said, I do get why emphasizing variety is the norm. Ask people to make a 12-character password, and they're going to start falling back on numbers and common words that are much more vulnerable, or reusing their passwords more (which is more of a risk than having a crackable password, given how often password databases are hacked). More complex passwords are similarly prone to reuse because they're harder to remember, but they seem less so than a longer requirement would be, and the fact that many will just come up with an 8-character base password and tack on the additional 2-3 characters to satisfy the requirements results in stronger passwords overall.

Golden Sun isn't really underrated. Most people that have played it enjoy it to roughly the correct extent (they're certainly decent games, but nothing tremendously special as far as TBRPG's go), it just doesn't get much attention these days because it's been a decade since the last game in the series came out and 18 years since the last consistently-liked game. Dark Dawn wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't good enough to ignite interest in the series for people that hadn't played the rest of it, especially where it so shamelessly set itself up for a sequel that never came and sacrificed its own plot in doing so. I'd happily play GS4 if it came out, but I understand Camelot not having enough confidence in the series to make that happen, because there just isn't that much interest left.
