People think shops, starbucks and bars are public property, they are not. You're only allowed in if they let you, if they won't let you in or want you out then you have to leave. Just like if a dude wanted to enter your home. If you let him in that's fine but if you want him out then he's got to go.

That's why the people who got kicked out of Starbucks for hoarding a table and not ordering anything being considered an outrage was a bad call from the court of public opinion.

I was so so so hoping that was a misdirect. This is dumb.

Is this my fault? I kinda assumed the show was going to be intelligent but seems more fun if you view it as a "Switch your brain off and just enjoy trash TV" kinda thing like Mortal Kombat Conquest.

It has some great lines but the characters and plots are all so 2D and silly. Literally everyone on the show is an idiot with only 1 personality trait doing nonsensical things.

Yeah James from AVGN doesn't look to be a vocal guy on the web. And honestly I don't think what he did was a big deal. Sometimes you just gotta say enough is enough with these movies. It's not necessarily that female Ghostbusters is the problem. Sometimes you gotta go what's the point of seeing a rehash of a classic? I feel the same way about Jurassic World, but that wouldn't cause a controversy. I could say "screw any new Batman movie, I've had my fill", but that wouldn't be considered a crazy take.

At some point, a person gets to be alive long enough to see the industry for what it is. It's a constant rehashing and remixing of ideas and sometimes I elect to not take part in it.

Just to add to this, it's worth noting that James didn't make the video to "Take a stand" against modern movies or anything

He did it for 2 reasons.

1. Because people kept asking him if he was going to review it since he's covered a lot of Ghotbusters and 80s/early 90s stff

2. Because he really wanted to do a video about Ghostbusters 3.

People who weren't fans of his didn't get that and thought he was targeting Ghostbusters either for no reason or because of Sexism.

Your family are like "Oh no! Your niece and nephew need to be picked up from Little Rock and taken to Fort Worth! Richard was supposed to do it but now he's hospitalized it'll have to be you."

You're like "But that's a 350 mile trip by itself! Let alone getting there and getting back!"

But your mom is like "You have to do it! You're the only one who can. We can't put kids in an uber and everyone else in the family is busy"

Your mom guilt trips you until you reluctantly agree. Then on the day it's hot as hell and the drive sucks, bad drivers honk at you and cut you off and women are screaming profanities at truck stops. You feel bitter about being forced to do it, you leave early to beat the traffic and by the time you arrive in Little Rock your nerves are frayed. When you stop you open the door and scream at the kids "Get in! I'm taking you home!" so you can get this long ass drive over and done with ASAP.

To your pleasant surprise you hear them enter the car, close the door quickly then quietly fall asleep due to exhaustion probably from school + the heat.

Also the drive to Fort Worth is pleasant. There are hardly any cars on your side of the road, however as you drive you see the traffic to Little Rock on the otherside of the road pulling up and up and up and up and up without the slighest sign of stopping.

Then after 280 miles you've calmed down a lot until you get a phone call from your mom.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!? You said you'd pick up the kids!" Your mom shrieks.

"I did" You reply. "They're with me right now and I'm making super good time. Man I was smart to leave early, the roads to Little Rock are a nightmare now. I feel sorry for all those losers n-"

"I just got off with phone with the school right now and they said that only did you NOT pick up the kids. They have been waiting for hours! There are no other kids left! Every single other one was picked up and the staff want to go home! Stop lying to me [Firstname]! You've let everyone down. We trusted you. I'm so heartbroken and disappointed that you would do this to children. your mom nags

"What are you talking about!? They're right here in the ba-"

Then you turn around and realize the 2 kids in the backseat aren't your niece and nephew and are instead just some random sleepy kids who jumped in the car when you shouted in their direction and then fell asleep because they were tired. You didn't notice because you were so hot tempered.

These are random kids who you have now taken hundreds of miles away from their home, while your left your niece and nephew behind and the road back to Little Rock is fuller than a Fulham fan who just ate 5 dinners.

And he doesn't trash the movie at all, he just says he doesn't think it looks good so he won't see it.

You call it kiddy (and it is) but also has genocide, mass brutal death/suffering, themes of individuality, introspection, the idea of what a 'home' means, the concept of a soul and notion of your inveitable mortal death and various ways of coping with it.

It's a kiddy game with a wacky yet solid fantasy world that explores a lot of adult themes in kid friendly yet mature way while remaining consistent. There's a lot of depth to it. Even characters that have very simple personalities like Steiner and Quina still have character arcs and real complexity to their thoughts and actions. Someone actually cared when they wrote them.

Where as so many video games are "Adult" and then explore really childish themes with characters who have 2D personalities in largely pulp situations doing shit that makes no sense, while being utterly inconsistent.

God of War Reboot, Days Gone, Mortal Kombat, Metal Gear Solid 5, The Last of Us, Dead Space, Warfighter, Every Single David Cage Game etc

All have incredibly attractive people with blood and rape and torture and people killing the ones they love and little children getting ripped to shreds "OMG so sad ;_;" content which is labeled "Mature" but it's all so skin deep and shallow with no thought or care or purpose that it seems like it's insulting your intelligence.

Going "Pete loves Jane but Pete has to rip her spine out and then rape someone then die of blood loss in a ditch." isn't deep or mature to me. Even though it's "adult" it's not sad or interesting, it's just bad writing involving fucked up shit.

FFIX seems made for children yet you can actually appreciate it as an adult .

Plus the art style is so good. From the general gameplay to the FMVs to the battle screen, it's all consistently the same world unlike a lot of RPGs of the period and the "Cartoony" style means the graphics haven't dated. Like Sonic 3 or This War of Mine or Thomas Was Alone it's pretty much future proof in terms of graphics.

I love that. I felt more emotion for The Black Mages killed on the Cargo Ship inside 90 seconds of screentime, who all look the same and have no names than I did for any dramatic character death in most games

While it's childish, I'd honestly call FFIX more mature than most 18+ rated video games I have ever personally played.

Some exceptions like Silent Hill 2, Spec Ops the Line, RDR2, This War of Mine and others but the majority, especially the mainstream, just don't tell stories with believable worlds like FF9 did. Hell the other Final Fantasies don't.

I've never got the love for IX and I've played pretty much all major FF titles.

It's skill/equipment system is lacking compared to 7, 8 and 10, which leads the combat to being very boring (ignoring the camera spin it does before the battle starts, bleh).

It is painfully, painfully slow - in terms of pacing, animation and flow. I got to the last disk and never beat it. I had no idea what was going on, nor did I really care.

When I first played the game my brothers scratched the discs (yes I blame them, I always take good care of my games) and I always assumed the game's slowless was due to those scratches. It never occured to me that no, the battle system is just that slow.

Apparently the PC version is just as bad which is hilarious.

Not just the best Final Fantasy but the best video game ever made IMO.

And I say that while accepting that every complaint ever lodged against it is 100% fair and accurate

Despite it's flaws it has so much charm and atmosphere and character. It has more soul than any other AAA game I've ever played. It has the passion of a diehard indy developer's , magnum opus with the budget of a AAA game made by 450 people.

And if I haven't sucked it off enough already, I'm still discovering things about it to this day.

It was only last week where I found out you can actually fight the Friendly Yan and it's almost like discovering a new secret boss fight.

Tomorrow morning you wake up, get dressed and get ready for work.
