So she's been dating this guy, we'll call him Tom, for about three years. They recently had a big break-up and she's very upset about it; plus she hasn't had sex with him in a while, she was really horny and she wanted someone to comfort her, and she was so pissed off at Tom that she was just gonna invite her ex over (we'll call him Mike).

I told her straight up: I'm a guy, I know how guys think. Mike isn't coming over just to comfort you and be a friend. He knows you're in a vulnerable state emotionally and he's just looking for a booty call. And if you're horny, you won't necessarily have the willpower to stop anything from happening so I think you should tell him not to come over.

So she told him never mind, don't come over, and asked me if I would come over. She knows I'm safe so I said okay. Got over there, and she said that her ex Mike had called and basically was like "should I bring a condom or what?" so she immediately knew that I was right and kept thanking me for talking her out of it.

Just chatted for a couple hours before leaving.

So then people try to say "that's just how he sounds when reading."
Bullshit. No one goes from normal to so-annoying-I-want-to-rip-off-my-ears just from reading a script.

Yes and yes, but not for a while.

It's funny because I usually end up sleeping with cougars (no emotional attachment) and they compliment me on my stamina and call me the energizer bunny. I think the only reason I last so long is because it's purely physical for me; I have no emotional connection to them (and from what I hear, it's emotional connection that really heightens one's sexual experience.)

No offense dude, but this was a pathetic read. You've allowed someone you haven't seen in almost 20 years and had no real emotional connection with mutually to block off your potential emotions. Like wtf man. Wake up and realize that life moves on

I know how it sounds, but I can only say that as crazy as it seems to you, that's a reflection of how potent my feelings were for her. You may not believe in love at first sight, but I can tell you that just being around her was intoxicating. Walking by her in the hallway would make time stand still and was a highlight of my week. I still dream about her. I know it's pathetic, every part of my rational mind knows it's pathetic and absurd, but it's too late now.

32 years old and I've never had a relationship. When I was a kid I was absolutely infatuated with this girl, from the moment I laid eyes on her in first grade, all through eighth grade (when I moved out of state). She never had the slightest interest in me, however, and basically ignored me.

Call it puppy love. Call it a boyhood crush. Call it love at first sight.

Whatever it was, I've never felt anything like it since. No one I've ever met has ever made me feel anything even remotely close to what I felt for that girl.

So I don't see the point in having a relationship with someone when I know there's a much stronger connection out there.

So I've basically inculcated a mentality of pure reason and intellect, no emotion. I'm very Stoic.

I mentioned this in my poll of random fascinating facts, but I wanted to make a separate topic because I find the story captivating.

So as a youth, Adolf Hitler's family was rather penniless. Their family physician, Dr. Eduard Bloch, often provided services either at a discounted rate or entirely for free. Hitler vowed lifelong gratitude to Bloch, and remained true to his word.

Following Germany's annexation of Austria, the 66-year-old Bloch wrote a letter to Hitler asking for help; as a consequence, he was put under special protection by the Gestapo. Bloch stayed in his house with his wife undisturbed until the formalities for his emigration to the United States were completed. Without any interference from the authorities, they were able to sell their family home at market value.

Hitler even called Bloch an edeljude ("noble Jew")

It's all a question of balance.

Blissful solitude is when you finally have some time to yourself after being forced to endure others for too long.

Abject loneliness is when that time to yourself drags on for longer than you needed it to.

Reminds me of that Lord Byron quote: "I only go out to get myself a fresh appetite for being alone."

It's strange to me that so many priests with these tendencies don't make an effort to seek help. You follow a religion that is rooted largely in forgiveness; certainly it's better to admit your paraphilia and seek help, than to act on your desires and harm a child in the process.
