It's hard to tell from the pictures how big the tip is on that, ideally you want a smaller flat end if you're going to be soldering IC leg pins etc when doing old console mods (putting a mod chip on an OG Xbox was a particularly tricky job for the time! You had to patch some wires directly onto lines on the board!) but yeah it looks like it'll be a fine starter one at that price. If you get into electronics you might invest in a higher quality one down the line. Luckily there seems to be no shortage of Weller tips out on the market to suit different jobs I was thinking the same thing though, if I get into it big time I'll invest in something better, maybe with a dedicated temp control, but for now I dont need anything fancy --- A hunter is a hunter...even in a dream |
