So you expect this person to respond seriously? As if they didn't come into the topic, see which way people we're leaning, and intentionally took the opposite way to get people to react?

Nope, but it's fun.

The cop definitely was the one at fault, but seriously, a compact car doesn't make an SUV do a full 360 and nearly flip it over by going slowly. He was going fast enough that he didn't have time to swerve before the impact. Or maybe he was distracted? The cop was pretty far into the intersection.

But how would you have handled this situation?

I wouldnt have handled anything. My supervisor would be on scene in less than 5 minutes. Then our vehicle accident section would respond and I would have a hearing and punishment next week

in your opinion, if the facts in this story are true, and this officer not only displayed reckless endangerment, but gross abuse of authority, should he be allowed to continue being a police officer?

Im going solely based off the topic title and posts because I didnt watch the video. I would take a good look at his work history. If his record was super clean and like 0 incidents or complaints.. I would do a major suspension, demotion, and loss of pay. Anything other than 0 in his background and Id fire him. That being said the union has so much power he wont get fired

Yes, they do. 2000 pounds colliding with something at an angle is going to send things spinning, even at low speeds. And SUVs are certainly known for being top heavy.

interesting. I would think putting an innocent civilians life at risk, then using your position to frame that civilian would be an offense worthy of a termination, regardless of record. had that officer committed the same series of events as a private citizen, theyd more than likely be facing jail time. I find it odd youd extend leeway to an officer under these circumstances when, in my opinion, they should be held to a higher standard.

No I agree with you. The world just doesnt work that way. The only reason they will ever get fired over stuff like this is because its 2019. They record and it goes viral

Just watching the video makes it pretty evident that the car was speeding. You don't drive that fast in a residential area.

No, it doesnt. He was likely going the speed limit. Care to try to back up your assessment at all? Burden of proof is on you here

Fucking bullshit. Everyone knows that guns have an anti-bouncing mechanism to compensate for movement caused by running or falling from exploding buildings.

Dude that red car blasted into that intersection.

It definitely did not. Watch the video again

He looks like he was flooring it, to me. Compared to how fast the other cars are going before hand.

Theres a car only a few car lengths behind him. Was he also flooring it? And you can clearly see the red car through several frames of video through a short stretch of road. The crash looks like most 30mph crashes.

depends on which area in detroit but probably because people generally don't give a single fuck about traffic laws in residential areas over there. i see people hitting stop signs and passing red lights everyday and barely anybody actually drives the 30-35 mph speed limit in residential areas.
