Wait, there's 5 teams that are 3-7 in this 10 team league wtf

I can actually still make it if the 4th place team loses out and I win out, or if they win only one game and I outscore them by 150 over the next 4 weeks

You know what's funny is that based on an internal peer review a year or two ago I had the highest average communcation rating out of the entire engineering team!

Isn't this really sad considering you don't talk to half your team?

Well you see

The review thing was a couple years ago

And the work from home thing only started like two weeks ago

And not even close to half my team works from home

And most of the ones who do work on different projects atm

So, there was quite a bit of pertinent context which you were lacking here, because you chose to assume stuff rather than try to make sure you had a good grasp on the circumstances, because ya know, you're such a top notch communicator!

Alcatraz audio tour was awesome imo. That's what I usually recommend to people who are gonna visit there (note that I've only been twice so I'm not a local or anything)

Muir Woods was worth it as well. Saw some crazy old trees and bought a yellow stuffed slug souvenir

Yeah I would agree I came to the conclusion earlier today that foolmo is definitely the smartest person at his work, and potentially the smartest person he knows irl, not being facetious. But this can have an unfortunate side effect of thinking you can always intuit everything with impeccable accuracy because in day to day life you're almost never confronted with being wrong.

So I spilled a drink on my keyboard, and the result is unimaginably evil

99.5% of the time, the keyboard functions normally

But occassionally, the left shift key registers as both shift and enter at the same time

There's a reason those coworkers you talked about have opted out of your "optimal" method of communication (props to your boss for giving them to choice).

The best part is that foolmo here expresses the utmost optimism and faith in people he's never met (apparently for the sole purpose of belittling me)

Like, he's assuming every millenial who says "ok" when the boss offers to let them work from home isn't just doing it so they can stream twitch all day without it being monitored by the company.

No, no. I'm definitely the least effective member on the team. There is no other possibility.

I pretty much figured the run would ultimately end on a dumb low % crit sooner or later. Just kinda painful to watch when it's a dumb low % double crit lol

Then why does any chat conversation that escalates in complexity invariably result in one of us walking over to the other person's computer?

When I mentioned human interaction I didn't mean "wahhh I'm alone at home :("

I just meant chat messages, emails, or screen sharing are not as effective as me just spinning around in my chair and going "hey do you think you could help me with this?"

I mean I'm a software developer and when my team was given the option to try working from home, I still came to the office (though a couple people on my team stayed home) because I just work better in that environment for a number of reasons (human interaction being one). But my drive to work is 10-15 minutes so maybe it doesn't matter.

It's close between Beauty and the Beast and Lion King. Difficult to remove my Emma Watson crush from the equation. Aladdin solidly in third, though.

The, uh, impassioned hatred for Lion King is surprising. Aladdin flirted with being unbearable at certain points with Genie's cheesy humor.

Fearow

Spearow was among the first 20 pokemon (being generous) encountered by probably > 90% of everyone who played gen 1. That makes an impression.

Is Fearow a standout popular superstar? No, of course not. But there are too many non-legendary pokemon who aren't part of an evolution chain who show up way, way later and way, way less frequently and way, way less in the way than Fearow for it to be remotely in contention.

Guess we just gotta play through the game with only 1 pokemon like bosses to fight the exp share system.

Between the permanent exp share and portable PC storage that's accessible almost anywhere, I think the game is more encouraging you to use a lot of Pokemon instead of only a few.

On the topic of otherwise forgettable pokemon being more memorable simply by association...Wigglytuff. That is probably the most likely of the gen 1 pokemon that is in an evolution chain to actually be forgotten (when the rest of the chain isn't)

I used to be in a job where huge portion of my day was spent trawling through thousands of misspelled words and mapping them to their intended spellings.

I guarantee every single misspelling of Lickitung listed in this topic has been used, along with at least 12 others we haven't mentioned yet.

On a different note, though, I never thought of it as "licky tongue". Just "lick" and "tongue". If I wrote it "how it sounds" I'd never come up with "licky" but that'll vary with different people I guess.
