If you're simply saying that white people on average have more advantages than most minorities in the United States, then that is an accurate definition. I don't like the terminology because it's one of those loaded words that inherently seems combative no matter how you utilize it. I think most of the people who do utilize it mean it to be combative. I think the whole discussion around it is typically disingenuous, and there is a fringe minority who use it in a racist manner.

It does seem pretty silly. Regardless on where someone stands on the whole "cut content" stuff, the game definitely lacks polish, looks pretty bad in some areas, has technical issues, etc. It's not like it's a 3/10, but it's definitely not a 9/10 or 10/10.

This is the first main-line console game, and they chose now of all times to cut out content with some of the flimsiest excuses. They cite extra content, but so far the game sounds like one of the weakest in extra content. I'm 100% sure Gamefreak is just out of their depth rather than it being so hard to produce.

Nah, they could have started by deciding if they wanted to pander to the old fans or tell a new story. The inclusion of all the old characters and then completely shafting their happy ending was a shit move. Giving them mostly horrible sendoffs was a bad move. Making the second movie dogshit was a bad move. They should have set it much more in the future.

The government would never forget and would always want to exploit you.
The government would only be able to fuck with you if they're able to grab you without anyone noticing, if you were to secretly go to a doctor to figure out what was up without telling someone. You going public as "real life Wolverine" would make you pretty much immune. Also, if you're donating samples, there's not much reason they'd have to grab you. It might put you at risk of being kidnapped by a foreign power, but donating overseas would likely negate that as well.

Power for sure. In this day, it would be possible to instantly go public with it, be in the spot light for ten minutes, and then you're forgotten once a world leader does something dumb online. It's also not complete immortality, so you should be able to kill yourself if you get tired of living. Money problems could be solved by selling your blood and body parts for research and then long, long term investments would keep you set for thousands of years if humanity doesn't kill itself.

For there to be any fair shot, we'd have to assume the alien ship was damaged in the last battle, so they're coming with the intention of landing and taking over to regain resources. So you have a super advanced society with limited numbers and superior technology vs the technology of earth and any trained women solider. Honestly, even if men were included, we're all dead regardless. Even a weakened alien society could likely wipe out our whole system of communication via hacking. We could try launching dozens of nukes the second they land, but I'm sure they could disrupt communications and cancel them.

the video is about the process of radicalizing "normies" into the hate group.

part of the alt-right is that they're very media-savvy. I recommend watching the other videos in that series for more information.

that depends on how many people you think are "easily swayed morons." that you include "average" before them suggests that you think, perhaps, the average person is. which would suggest that there are, in fact, a lot of them.

there is not outrage and articles every time someone uses the symbol.

I did not put any more emphasis on the word "is" than I did on any other word.

and lastly, and perhaps most importantly: symbols can mean many different things in different contexts. that's literally what symbols do
If you're replying six hours later and actually expect a response, you should tag someone. I only happened to notice just now that this topic was even still alive.

And that seems to be one of many, many videos and articles talking about the idea of this particular radicalization. This has been a pretty constant talking point recently, and thus my initial question of the existence of data to show if this talking point is even relevant.

When I speak of an average number of indoctrinated idiots, I speak of whatever set of morons have the natural aptitude to be swayed into what they consider a greater truth. Whether it's something mostly innocuous like flat earth theory or conspiracy theories, or something harmful to society like anti-vax or racial supremacy, there is always going to be fringe stuff like that. So I'd like someone to show any kind of data concerning the rise of these people. Are we dealing with ten thousand, one hundred thousand, or one million? Are we seeing any kind of mass increase on a yearly basis? There's a big difference between 6700 self-identified neo-nazis in the country and 645,000 self-identified white supremacists in the country. One is a fringe cult and the other is an actual social problem.

The news articles and the Twitter warriors freaking out every time someone uses it in a public space disagrees with you. People implying that it's a "nazi symbol" and thus should be banned disagrees with you.

I want to make it very clear that I find the ideology completely vile, but I don't see any signs that we're dealing with any kind of noticeable increase in actual numbers. We have some high profile cases of shitbags going to the absolute extremes, but I think that's less the allure of the alt-right and more the general increase of mentally ill people willing to go to those extremes. Such people latch onto whatever they can find as a justification of their desire to harm.

Asking for how many people are being swayed into a cult-like mentality is "oddly specific"? Talking about the reasons behind radicalization in general and specific cases of radicalization are good. What's not good is embellishing the rate of radicalization or acting like a specific method of radicalization is more enticing than reality.

this is a guy making videos about them on youtube. is that a disproportional resposnse?

a significant reason why the ideology is spreading is that they're good at broadcasting

you're making up that scenario. no one has ever said that every instance of it is nazi signalling. people have said that it is a symbol of white supremacy, which is true
This is about these supposed radicalized internet dwellers, not the already existent ones. There unfortunately will always be some fringe hate groups. They should not be ignored, but their presence should also not be overly inflated to bring about mass fearmongering.

Ever since the original "oops I accidentally white supremacist" article or video, this has been a pervasive talking point, fueled also by the Gamer and incel fearmongering. That video is just one of many. There are certainly real people falling into this cult, but I refuse to believe it is anything more than the "average easily swayed moron" quota of people without some numbers. These people should be given the help and support needed

The outrage and articles about every time someone uses the symbol disagrees with that. Your emphasis on the word "is" disagrees with that.

I want to see something that shows any indication this is more then 10 easily influenced morons. Declaring emergencies over the actions of a few helps nothing. We need proportional responses to problems. This is similar to when YouTube decides to send out a tactical nuke every time there is the slightest advertiser issue. Are there issues to fix? Yes. Should literal millions be affected by the actions of a small few? No. Its the same as the OK symbol. Is some minority using it in a negative manner? Yes. Should they be called out in it? Yes.
