I kept flip-flopping on this clip like crazy. I am a bit of a sucker for this snappy USA Network style, with its quick pace and witty, hipster narration, invoking nostalgic memories of watching shows like Psych, Monk, Covert Affairs, and Suits. But, I had to reign myself in, and really look at this scene critically. I love Westen's approach to the situation, it's both calculated (showing off Westen's versatile skillset) and clever (showing Westen's unique approach to complicated situations). However, I realized what doesn't work as well for me is the extremely dated "stop-and-go" editing style that makes things feel more choppy than they should. In fact, the whole sequence of Westen breaking through the back wall is shown really weird and makes the placement of certain rooms and characters a little confusing. The drug dealer is a huge over-actor too. Overall, this scene is still one I enjoy, and I think I'll always remember that "duct tape makes you smart".

A fun little scene to be sure, if a little simple. You kind of expect the punchline, but Crow's tough guy speech and Mal's indifference to the actual kicking still got a hearty laugh out of me! Then, you have the follow-up henchman obviously willing to cooperate. Honestly, I don't really have much to say about this scene, it's fun for what it is, there's nothing really bad about it, but I guess it doesn't stand out enough. Its biggest crime here is playing it too safe!

This scene has a lot of emotion packed into it, but I do have one pretty big problem with it. This is mere personal preference, but I don't think the graphical art style of the game really conveys the emotion as properly as it should. Now this may be a budgetary issue, but Asura's scream doesn't really feel as powerful as it should, and I really blame the weak explosion of the big fleet as the main driving force as to why this doesn't fully work for me. It looks like a stock effect and absolutely nothing like a thousand ships exploding at once. However, the lead up to the scream is still decently effective and Asura himself looks pretty great, especially in his new form. It doesn't really make me feel that much, but hey, I recognize the effort at least.

This scene sends a great message out to the world and the voice performance by Peter O'Toole is top notch. The speech itself kind of makes me feel bad for ranking it this low, but beyond the message itself there's nothing here in the actual animation that really catches my eye as it's mainly just a bunch of epilogue wrap-up scenes, showing where characters are and what they're doing after the events of the film. Meaningful dialogue is only one aspect of a scene, and though it may fit the film's message perfectly, in the context of this ranking, this is where dialogue and not much else will make you end up.

A lot of people totally dislike this scene or dismiss it as just "cringe" but I see a lot of good stuff in this scene honestly. Breaking Bad often excelled at using cringe to magnify the more despicable traits of certain characters. There's just something more than a little creepy about your boss practically forcing you into a sultry performance for his own benefit, especially if you know everything about Ted's and Skyler's relationship beforehand. This is also Skyler, a married woman, doing this, and it really feels like a betrayal of that bond. Yeah, the actual performance is pretty bad, but that's not really the full point of the scene. The Sam Raimi-like extras ("You guys, the candles are getting wax all over the place") also feel very out of place for Breaking Bad in general. It's not the greatest scene in the world by any means, but the subtext it provides is very strong and makes the scene deserve a second look.

I love Louis C.K., I love Kurt Metzger, I love Steve Buscemi, and yet this scene doesn't work for me as well as the people involved would otherwise suggest. Metzger has a gift for storytelling and he puts everything he has into it to make this classic bible story pop out and become vibrant, but at the end of the day, I just don't find the story itself all that funny, no matter what kind of spin or extra pizazz is put over it. Also, I know the spotlight is meant to be on Kurt, but I do wish Louis and Steve had more to do than just basically smile and listen through the whole thing. Maybe having extraneous dialogue from them would've ruined the flow of the storytelling, but I still think it would've made the scene feel more alive. Edie Falco drawing the line at "that word" was well done though!
